Villain: I Can See Destiny

24: Chapter 24 Could my sister have someone she likes? The next day, early morning.

The street vendors had not yet started setting up their stalls when the serene road was broken by the sound of hoofbeats.

Guards riding fire-horses rode straight to the entrance of the Luo Residence.

They announced the purpose of their visit and handed a verdant token to the guards at the gate.

Following the guards’ announcement, a clamor instantly spread from the outer residence to the inner residence.

Luo Cang, who had just woken up, couldn’t help but be curious about what had happened to make the usually lifeless Luo Residence become so lively.

He wanted to find someone to ask what was going on, but as soon as he opened the door, he found his courtyard already filled with clansmen.

Seeing Luo Cang appear, the people of the Luo Residence looked joyful. Someone even shouted loudly, ”Thanks to Young Master, our Luo family is saved.”

”Young Master is truly talented to have actually gained the appreciation of Your Majesty.”

”Perhaps our Luo family can rise to an even higher level.”

An elder of the clan suppressed his inner excitement and told him, ”Little Cang, Your Majesty feels that many of your philosophies coincide with his, and has specially appointed you as the Commander of the Inspection Bureau. It is a fourth-rank official position, second only to the Master!”

The other clansmen were also overjoyed. One had to know that the Inspection Bureau was a position with real power; how many people were green with envy!

Compared to the excitement of the clansmen, Luo Cang’s heart sank to the bottom.

This was the worst outcome deduced by the heavenly dao bead!

With this position, he would become Emperor Lin Shu’s executioner.

He would be loathed by everyone, estranged from his father, and even Mingyue and his little sister would not understand him.

He couldn’t help but wonder, was it really right to defect to Young Master Xiao Zimo?

But now, he had no way to retreat.

Outside the Imperial Capital, Linshui Lake.

The lake was surrounded by green mountains, forming a beautiful landscape painting.

There were very few pedestrians in the early morning.

Luo Qing was happily taking a walk on the quiet path by the lake.

Everything had been getting better these past few days. First, her brother and Mingyue had reconciled, and now her brother was valued by Your Majesty and held a fourth-rank position...

”Oof...”

Because she was lost in thought, Luo Qing accidentally bumped into someone and fell to the ground herself.

”Are you alright, Miss?”

A voice as gentle as jade reached Luo Qing’s ears.

Luo Qing looked up.

What met her eyes was a Young Master in white robes as elegant as jade. He wore an apologetic smile, and a pair of beautiful peach-blossom eyes looked at her sincerely, possessing such charm that she was instantly mesmerized.

”Miss? Miss?”

The other party called out several times before she came back to her senses.

Luo Qing immediately lowered her head, blushing as she muttered, ”I’m sorry...”

”It is the same for me; I didn’t notice someone in front.”

The young man rubbed the back of his head, appearing somewhat embarrassed as well.

Then, both of them laughed in unison.

”Meeting is fate. My name is Young Master Xiao Zimo, and I am from out of town, here in Li Kingdom for sightseeing.”

The white-clad young man smiled and reached out to pull Luo Qing, who was sitting on the ground, up.

As their fingertips touched, the young girl’s heart hammered like thunder.

”I... my name is Luo Qing, and I am... a local.”

The girl stuttered, looking as if she were not very bright.

Young Master Xiao Zimo examined the girl in front of him. With willow-leaf eyebrows and almond-shaped eyes, she was beautiful, dressed in green, and carried the unique aura of a young girl.

But for Young Master Xiao Zimo, who was used to seeing Saintesses and Mystic Maidens, the girl’s appearance could only be considered passable. If her family background were better, she would have no problem working as a maid in the Xiao Clan.

”Since you are from Li Kingdom, Miss, would it be convenient for you to introduce me to the surrounding places of interest?”

Young Master Xiao Zimo’s face was full of sincerity, which, combined with that peerless appearance, made it very hard to refuse.

”Mm...” Luo Qing’s voice was as soft as a mosquito’s hum.

Afterwards, the two walked along the lake together. Under Young Master Xiao Zimo’s constant guidance, the girl let go of her stiffness.

Along the way, the two talked and laughed, the atmosphere harmonious. Those who didn’t know would have thought they were a couple.

The midday sun was overhead. The girl wore a troubled expression.

”The scenery here is truly beautiful. Let’s come and see it again tomorrow morning,” Young Master Xiao Zimo said, pretending to be casual.

Upon hearing this, Luo Qing smiled, ”Young Master Xiao, I must bid you farewell; my brother is still waiting for me to eat.”

Having said this, she turned and left, her steps light, and it was clear she was in a good mood.

After the girl left, the smile on Young Master Xiao Zimo’s face instantly vanished, his expression appearing somewhat indifferent, completely unlike before.

Meeting Luo Qing was certainly not a coincidence; everything was his careful design, and the purpose was merely to probe for information about her brother.

Luo Residence, inside the main courtyard, at the stone table.

Luo Cang looked at his happy little sister and couldn’t help but joke, ”Why are you so happy today? Do you have a crush on someone?”

”Cough, cough...”

Luo Qing was startled and accidentally choked.

”Brother~ what nonsense are you spouting? You are being heavily utilized by Your Majesty; who in the Luo Residence isn’t happy?”

Luo Qing said, blushing and feeling somewhat guilty.

Luo Cang did not notice his sister’s abnormality, but the gloominess in his eyes flashed when he heard the words ”heavily utilized.”

”By the way, why haven’t I seen Father these past few days? Does Brother know where he went?”

”I am not very clear about Father’s whereabouts either. I heard a couple of days ago that he was going to Huzhou to handle some matters; he might have gone there.”

”Moreover, Father is not favored by Your Majesty, so it is a good thing for him to be away from the Imperial Capital for the time being.”

Luo Cang looked at his worried little sister and comforted her.

Luo Qing lowered her head to think, then turned and smiled, ”Brother is right.”

The next day, early morning.

Before the servants of the Luo Residence had even woken up, Luo Qing had already washed up and gone out early.

By Linshui Lake, Luo Qing was wearing a long white dress, pacing back and forth on the quiet path, her gaze occasionally darting towards the entrance of the path.

It was clear that the young girl’s heart was not calm.

After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, a white figure appeared at the entrance of the path.

Luo Qing hurriedly withdrew her gaze and stared fixedly at the lake, as if she were lost in the scenery.

”Miss Luo, good morning.”

Finally, the voice she had been dreaming of reached her ears.

Luo Qing turned her head and, feigning calmness, brushed her hair behind her ear, ”Young Master Xiao, good morning.”

Today, Luo Qing was wearing a long white dress, with light makeup on her face; it was obvious she had dressed up carefully.

”Miss Luo is truly beautiful today.”

Young Master Xiao Zimo praised. This was not a lie; Luo Qing, with her light makeup, was indeed first-class in appearance.

”Does Young Master Xiao mean that I didn’t look good yesterday?” Luo Qing said playfully.

”Yes... yesterday is different from today...”

Young Master Xiao Zimo did not seem to expect her to ask such a question and couldn’t help but stutter a little.

Seeing that the elegant Young Master Xiao also had such a side, Luo Qing beamed with a smile.

Young Master Xiao Zimo appeared somewhat flustered, ”What I mean is, Miss Luo’s beauty today and her beauty yesterday are different. I... I didn’t mean that yesterday wasn’t as beautiful as today...”

Seeing this, Luo Qing smiled charmingly, ”Alright, I won’t tease you anymore.”

After saying this, she turned and walked forward.

She couldn’t help but think to herself, ”This joke was really great. It turns out Young Master Xiao is just an ordinary person; before, she had thought the other party was a deity descended to earth...”

Young Master Xiao Zimo hurriedly caught up, and the two soon continued chatting, picking up from yesterday’s topic.

Happy times are always short, and the two soon arrived at the moment of parting again.

”If only we could always be together. I wonder how Young Master Xiao sees me.” Luo Qing thought with some extravagance.

”Miss Luo, I won’t be coming to Linshui Lake tomorrow morning.”

Young Master Xiao Zimo stood with his back to Luo Qing, making it impossible to see his expression.

”Is... is that so.”

Luo Qing feigned calmness, but her heart was terribly uncomfortable, feeling like she couldn’t catch her breath.

”Will I never be able to see Young Master Xiao again?”

”I wonder if Miss Luo is free tomorrow night; I heard there is a lantern festival in the Yong’an District of the Imperial Capital tomorrow night.”

Luo Qing was stunned. Is this an invitation to me?

After she came back to her senses, she discovered that the other party had long since disappeared.

Could Young Master Xiao be shy?

But I haven’t even agreed yet!

Also, you should have at least said where to meet tomorrow night!

Thinking of this, Luo Qing couldn’t help but stamp her foot.

”I heard from the guards at the residence that you got up very early today?” Luo Cang looked at his sister, who was eating, and asked.

”Mm... I went out for a walk.”

Luo Cang’s eyes narrowed slightly. Going out for a walk?

One needs to dress up carefully to go for a walk? Needs to wear makeup?

Could it be that yesterday’s words were a prophecy? Does she have a crush on someone?

In the previous life, there was no such thing.

Could it be that someone saw him being valued by Emperor Lin Shu and wanted to climb the social ladder?

Thinking of this, Luo Cang decided to follow his sister tomorrow morning to see who the other party really was...
