I AM the Football Star

San Remo’s Serie A season, thus announced its end...

A whistle shattered everything.

The match wasn’t over yet.

The camera was originally zooming in on Lu Yang, ready to capture the tears of Italy’s toughest man.

Or it lingered on Lord Buddha’s face, trying to decipher what he was saying.

There were also shots of Junior, seemingly using camera language to tell everyone that he is the next Mr. Golden Ball and World Footballer of the Year for Real Madrid!

But now, all cameras are focused on the Main Referee.

Then, in front of the whole world, the Main Referee signaled a goal disallowed.

This was... an offside goal!

”No! Absolutely impossible!”

After a brief silence, Real Madrid fans, the Head Coach, executives, and players, all were furious.

This decision was too outrageous!

How could that ball be offside?

It was clearly an amazing strike!

Even most people on San Remo’s side were confused.

To be fair, that ball was indeed a good goal.

Offside, there really shouldn’t have been any offside.

However, the replay explained the reason to the world shortly thereafter.

As it turned out, after Areola rushed out, Palacios returned to the goal line to act as the goalkeeper.

And just before Madeira passed the ball, Areola sensed Madeira’s intention to pass, so he tried to turn and run back to the goal.

But Lu Yang, who was involved in defending, came over at this time and grabbed Areola, pulling him towards the outside of the penalty area.

In other words, not only did Areola not get close to the goal, but he got even further away from it.

This also made Junior’s subsequent shooting more relaxed, needing only to avoid Palacios, without having to consider Areola’s return-save.

It could be said that if this ball counted, Lu Yang would be San Remo’s biggest sinner.

But the issue is... this ball won’t count!

Because at the moment Madeira passed the ball, Junior, who charged into San Remo’s penalty area, was closer to the goal than Madeira, closer than Areola, closer than any player on the field except Palacios.

So... he was offside!

Regarding the offside rule, it’s complex if explained in detail.

But long story short, if an attacking player is positioned with fewer than two players ahead at the moment of the pass, they will be offside.

When Junior received the ball from Madeira, there was only Palacios ahead of him, which is less than two, meeting the offside condition!

Therefore, this goal cannot be counted.

The Main Referee’s decision was very precise, indeed worthy of a golden whistle specially arranged by UEFA!

Exceptional professional skills and extremely strong psychological fortitude.

Daring to disallow Real Madrid’s decisive goal driving them into the Champions League final at Bernabéu, this is definitely something ninety percent of Main Referees wouldn’t dare to do!

”My God! It truly, truly was offside!”

”The position of goalkeeper Areola was behind Junior, this was a rare goalkeeper-produced offside!”

”No! It was Lu Yang pulling Areola, creating this offside! Lu Yang is absolutely genius!”

”I’d like to call Lu Yang’s pull on Areola the ’Hand of God’!”

”This is truly a player who uses his brain to play soccer!”

”I’m certain that Lu Yang’s understanding of soccer rules surpasses ninety-five percent of players, Coaches, Referees!”

”If this goal is invalid, Real Madrid should... have no time left!”

”Junior’s battle of canonization! He almost saved Real Madrid!”

”San Remo’s fans are cheering once again! Only their voices are heard at Bernabéu!”

”Real Madrid’s fans are truly miserable; they’ve experienced the biggest ups and downs in life!”

”From elimination, to advancement, and back to elimination!”

On Real Madrid’s stand, Lord Buddha’s hands trembled, seemingly wanting to kill the Main Referee.

Do you have an addiction to blowing whistles?

Would you die if you whistle a little less?

The whole world thinks it’s a goal, yet you insist on being different and saying it’s an offside goal?

Are you the only smart one?

The secretary was similarly on edge, asking: ”Well... Chairman, should we still buy this player?”

Lord Buddha looked at the wildly celebrating San Remo players, as if they had scored another goal, and after coughing several times, he said in a low voice: ”Bring him to Bernabéu!”

”Huh?” The secretary was even more perplexed than before.

This...

Different match outcome, same handling method?

Lord Buddha spotted Lu Yang among the crowd and added: ”At any cost!”

Because he knew, a new soccer king had been born!
