Beneath the Red Dragon

“Can this defensive line withstand such a fierce legion?”

“The troops on the eastern and western sections of the line can no longer support us. Will we be annihilated here!”

Such whispers and discussions have begun to spread on the city walls, but these warriors have not been punished, only loudly reprimanded by the legion’s officers.

Even those legion officers dare not enforce military law on these warriors at this time.

Marino Duke Lorne is standing on the highest point of Dorabi City, gazing solemnly at the monsters on the plain.

Dorabi City is strategically located, and the only way to capture it is through the not-so-wide city gate, including the small forward walled city, which falls under the defensive fire coverage of the entire line’s high point.

The entire defensive line is built on the perilous peaks, theoretically even the Golden Empire’s monster corps and the Giant’s army would find it extremely difficult to capture this high ground.

Attacking from the ground requires climbing the steep slopes, and those siege heavy cannons and giant crossbows are not only hard to transport up the slopes. Even if they pay the cost in blood to transport heavy cannons and siege equipment up, the disadvantage of low terrain against high would place them at an absolute disadvantage.

Capturing from the air also requires facing the suppression and coverage of the anti-air system.

Even if those Giant Dragons and Flying Dragon Riders want to land directly in the city, they will face ambushes in street battles and strikes from high points from all directions.

Besides an almost unbreakable defense system, there are four legendary level forces simultaneously stationed in the Dorabi defensive area.

The Southern Noble Alliance’s high duchies not only have combined national strength and territorial power stronger than other small nobles, but most importantly, these high duchies, through countless years, have always been able to cultivate top-notch forces to suppress their family territories.

Perhaps it is due to secret magic techniques, or perhaps because of the Secret Treasure handed down for thousands of years, or bearing certain magical bloodlines and abilities, the ruling families of these high duchies possess powerful strength like Charal Cesar from the past, strong enough to rival legendary battle power.

Some rulers accumulate resources infinitely to forge legendary powerhouses to suppress their families or incorporate outstanding talents into the family system, instilling an awareness of interests and leveraging marriage among various methods to attract talents.

These ruling nobles have countless ways and means to maintain their power.

In the Southern Noble Alliance’s high duchies, each duchy publicly has at least one power capable of rivaling legendary battle power, and Marino Duke Lorne is publicly the legendary powerholder of Marino Duchy.

Besides these powerhouses, they also possess strong legions, which is why the Southern Noble Alliance had once not feared the Golden Empire.

The Ancestral Red Dragon, though possessing unparalleled bloodlines, had not truly reached legend, nor could it instill fear from a distance in these nobles, as the Divine Forsaken Mountain Range and Hobis Empire serve as shields to them.

Moreover, the Southern Nobles had not anticipated the Ancestral Red Dragon’s disruptive power, gathering the forces of several kings, frightening these nobles so much that they now feel regret like never before.

Additionally, after Rosetta Duchy’s legendary Marshal Laird was severely injured by the King of Beastmen, did the Southern Nobles truly grasp the difference between nominally legendary powerholders and those of true legend.

The reason is simple: these nobles have enjoyed a life of luxurious ease for far too long.

Therefore, Dorabi City has urgently mobilized other legendary powerholders for support, adding Duke Marino, giving the Southern Nobles five legendary level forces stationed here, showing the significance of this stronghold.

The other four legendary powerhouses were not dispatched from nearby noble realms adjacent to Marino Duchy, but instead sent from several duchies further south in its hinterlands.

Legendary caster Reito scanned the frontline battlefield with a detection skill from a magic eye, his brow tightly furrowed.

As a newly arisen legendary mage, strictly speaking, he does not belong to the Southern Noble Alliance’s camp.

As a presence influenced by geopolitical tentacles from the Central Continent’s Overlord Empire, even though Reito has only been at the legendary level for fifteen years, he hasn’t had enough time to explore the future path.

However, Reito has been especially adept at space skills in his growth, which allows his detection skills to penetrate the hidden magic fog, discovering energy fluctuations faintly transmitted from high in the sky.

“What is that?” Legendary Mage Reito’s detection skill shows a projection displaying a blurry image, causing this legendary mage’s expression to change.

Marino Duke and the other three legends simultaneously went pale, calling out in shock: “Mage Tower?”

Mage Tower, actually, in these nobles’ eyes, is not overly rare, but a Mage Tower floating above the sky is something that not even Legendary Mage Reito has seen.

It exists only in legends, like remnants of stories of ancient magical civilizations, leaving these people astonished.
