I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 467: Chapter 271

The guard captain stared into space for a long time.

Coming back to his senses, he noticed Gauss was watching him.

”Thank you for saving us! I’m Jimmy, how should I address you, our benefactor?”

Thinking that without the man in front of him, he and his companions might already be lying on the ground, his eyes flashed with relief.

”Just call me Gauss.”

Gauss felt the aura of a Professional rising from the other, blinking his eyes.

This was the first time he had witnessed someone advancing to a Professional.

Judging by the man’s age, he wasn’t particularly young, so he probably wasn’t very talented.

It seemed the oppressive feeling from the goblins just now was indeed intense, managing to break through under pressure.

”Gauss, there are a few more here.”

Aaliyah and the others followed up from behind him.

A few goblins that managed to escape in the chaos were caught by them.

Gauss swung several swords, completing the beheading of the goblins.

As the saying goes: don’t neglect small good deeds.

The guard captain looked at this scene strangely.

He seemed not to understand why his teammates would deliberately drive the goblins back for Gauss to handle.

Wasn’t this redundant?

With the combat power of the elite squad in front of him, any member could clean them up at any time, right?

But he didn’t specifically inquire, assuming it was a coincidence.

Serdur silently walked around the crowd and began healing the injured guards behind them.

”What’s your mission this time?”

Gauss looked at their outfits, curiously asking.

Clearly, these people were guards, but what about the employer?

When he locked onto this scene from the distant sky, if he remembered correctly, it seemed he saw other figures too.

”We took on an escort mission from an employer to escort a Mage and his grandson to Sen City.”

Mentioning this matter, Jimmy couldn’t help but feel angry.

”Just now, the old Mage made an early escape while my brothers were fighting bloodily.”

Since it was a private job, the other party only gave a part of the escort advance payment, and the balance was due upon arrival at Sen City, so technically, it was not only betraying teammates but also dodging payment.

”He clearly promised to prepare spells to assist us if we held on a bit longer.”

Guard Captain Jimmy clenched his fists.

He vowed that next time they met, he would punch that wrinkled old face.

Recalling the old Mage, he looked at the helpful and handsome swordsman in front of him, unable to help but sigh.

”Mages always have lots of tricky thoughts.”

”Warriors like you, brother, are more passionate.”

Although somewhat stereotypical, your profession does indeed influence your personality.

On hearing this, Gauss blinked awkwardly.

”Actually, brother Jimmy, I’m also a Caster.”

”Ha?”

Jimmy turned his head, looking at him in confusion.

As if he didn’t understand what was being said.

Caster?

His mind flashed with Gauss’s swift actions just now, coming and going like the wind.

How could he be a Caster?

However, being enlightened like this, he vaguely sensed something amiss with Gauss.

Firstly, it was his entrance from the sky.

Not that warriors always couldn’t fly—using Magic Items, special skills, talents, etc., may all have the ability to fly—but generally speaking, ordinary warriors do not possess this ability.

But it would be understandable if he were a Caster.

Secondly, the opponent was wearing a robe.

He initially thought it was just a personal preference.

”I only have a rough knowledge of Swordsmanship,” Gauss continued.

Although he had already awakened to the secondary profession of swordsman, he didn’t intend to tell everyone.

Adventurers with two professions are rare, which could be seen as a unique tactic.

”Rough knowledge, huh....”

Jimmy’s mouth twitched slightly.

Suddenly, he felt exhausted.

Thinking that the close combat skills he had trained for years might not be as refined as those of the Mage in front of him made him feel complicated.

After a brief rest.

Serdur completed the healing of other guards.

Since Gauss arrived timely, the goblins hadn’t yet caused any irreparable damage to the guards breaking through their line of defense.

Some minor injuries weren’t too difficult for a level 4 Priest to handle.

”So what’s your plan next?”

Gauss inquired as he watched the guards push up the carriage and pacify the horses.

”I’m heading to Sen City!”

”That’s the old man’s destination, and I want to confront him for my comrades’ justice!”

Normally, with experienced mercenaries like them at the forefront, if the other party was willing to intervene, the probability of defeating the enemy wasn’t small.

Yet the other party chose to deceive them and slipped away while they were engaged in bloody combat, using them as bait to attract goblins before departing without saying a word.

One could say it was dastardly.

If Gauss and his team hadn’t appeared.

They might already be in the goblins’ belly now.

The more he thought about it, the angrier Jimmy felt, unable to swallow this resentment.

Now having advanced to a career warrior, although he hasn’t fully mastered the Professional-level strength, it gives him enough confidence.

”Then be careful.”

Gauss pointed them the way.

The direction was opposite, not allowing them to travel together.

”Benefactor, this is the cash we have, not much money. Next time we meet, I’ll definitely compensate you more. I expect to reside often in Sen City.”

As they parted, Captain Jimmy seemed to recall something and extracted a small pouch from his inner clothing.
