I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 452: Chapter 266: The Courage to Wield the Butcher’s Blade (Part 2)

Gauss shook his head.

He didn’t pay any attention to the pleas of this group.

It’s only because he’s here now, but he can’t stay here forever.

Once he leaves the village, they might send people to scout around for a few days. Once they confirm he’s gone, they’ll definitely come back with a vengeance.

The grievances they’d have from him would certainly be intensified.

Even if by then the villagers have been trained by him, it’s unnecessary to leave any hidden dangers.

With this thought, Gauss moved again.

His speed was incredible.

Except for his teammates, no one could clearly grasp his movements.

All they saw was a silhouette sweeping across the ground like a fierce wind.

Soon, bodies were flying backward decisively.

Very quickly, they lay on the ground moaning in pain.

Gauss then tossed the rusty weapons he had confiscated from the bandits to the ground beside him.

His gaze turned to the villagers, who were already dumbfounded.

”What’s your name?”

He looked at the leading middle-aged man and asked softly.

”Sir, my name, my name is Bruno.”

”I’m the... village chief here.”

Although his mind understood that the ruthless Gauss was fighting for him, his body couldn’t help but tremble.

Even if Gauss was reluctant to admit it, on the level of life, he and ordinary people were almost not considered the same species anymore.

Gauss slightly restrained his aura.

”Village Chief Bruno, please lead the villagers to take up arms and fight.”

Gauss said.

As he spoke, he glanced at the pile of weapons taken from the bandits.

This newly established village couldn’t rely solely on his protection; they needed to awaken their fighting spirit.

Otherwise, even if he taught them combat skills and led them to slay goblins and other monsters, they might still instinctively feel fear when facing such robbers.

From the moment he entered the village, he began to observe the situation.

After knowing his identity, even when hearing the alarm whistle, the villagers only tensed up for a moment, then, as if finding their backbone, placed all their hopes on him.

On a rational level, this was certainly fine.

But to survive in this desolate, monster-infested land, they lacked the grit that comes from a baptism of blood and fire.

”We... us?”

Bruno gulped, pointing to himself.

”Yes, please kill them,” Gauss said with a gentle smile. ”We won’t step in next. My partners and I will not intervene again.”

”If you dare not take action, then let them leave.”

He deliberately did not kill them outright for this reason.

In fact, this group of bandits had their fighting strength weakened significantly by his previous whirlwind-like assault. Coupled with being disarmed, apart from a bit of psychological pressure, the situation was already in their favor.

At present, this was merely a teaching scenario he had created.

A commotion rose among the villagers.

Not everyone dared to take a life, even if their original identity was that of bandits.

”Sir, why not help us kill them,” a woman in the crowd said.

They didn’t hate this group, but they were afraid to take action themselves.

With Gauss here, they instinctively relied on the strong.

Gauss sighed, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.

Without responding, he turned to leave with his partners.

Village Chief Bruno caught his expression and actions, swallowing hard.

Judging from Gauss’s actions, he realized that what Gauss said was true.

He summoned the courage in his heart.

A somewhat hoarse shout squeezed from his throat.

”Fan, Carlenka, Mike, Connie... ”

He called out a list of names as if rallying troops.

”Take up arms with me.”

Gauss slowed his pace.

He saw that after a brief hesitation, they picked up weapons, nodding slightly in approval.

”Don’t kill the bandit leader by the haystack. I have questions for him later.”

”Understood, sir.”

Not far away, the bandits struggling to rise from the ground saw the villagers, once like lambs to the slaughter, now taking up arms, the rusty blades reflecting dazzling light in the sunlight, and momentarily, their expressions became a bit dazed.

”You, you all... ”

Gauss had controlled the power of his actions very well earlier.

To ensure they wouldn’t die but felt soreness and incapacitation.

Some of the smarter bandits were already on their knees, knocking their heads on the ground.

Their scalps soon bled, the blood flowing along their movements, dripping down their cheeks.

Yet they didn’t cease their actions.

”Please spare us; we’re poor and were forced to come here for food. We have families in the mountains too.”

”My child is only three years old, let me go! I beg you!”

”...”

The bandits, having shed their fierce demeanor, tearfully began to beg for mercy.

Seeing this, some of the villagers softened again.

Fortunately, Chief Bruno understood there was no turning back at this point.

If they let them escape, they would be the ones to suffer later.

The only option was to keep them here.

”Attack!”

After saying this, he strode forward with his sword raised.

It was clear that his movements were not very practiced, showing almost no signs of training.

But...

”Swish!!!”

He grasped the sword with both hands, swinging it with all his strength.

The trajectory and angle of the blade were a bit off, but it didn’t matter.

”Splat!”
