I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 455: Chapter 267: Unknown Enemy

Early morning.

In the dim mist, the village awakened under the gradually rising warm sun.

Gauss woke up very early.

Since returning to the village last night, the clay creatures had not stopped, continuously chopping down trees and then transporting the smoothly cut logs to the open space in the village.

They were immensely strong and tireless.

They just required a constant consumption of magic power.

Fortunately, Gauss had plenty of magic power, and his magic power recovery rate was faster than that of normal casters, so he could maintain it.

So, when the villagers who woke up early came to the open space, they were amazed and stood still in disbelief, watching the pile of logs stacked like small mountains.

Some even rubbed their eyes, thinking they hadn’t woken up from a dream.

In the mist, a few tall figures were carrying logs far bigger than their bodies, step by step towards the village.

At first, the villagers thought they were people.

But it wasn’t until they came closer that they discovered they were aligned-colored monsters!

”Monsters, are those monsters helping to chop trees?”

Many instinctively wanted to run away.

However, Gauss, standing to the side, spoke to calm them.

”Everyone, don’t worry, these monsters are created by me using magic, and they won’t attack you.”

Hearing the voice, the villagers looked up and saw Gauss sitting atop the pile of logs like a small mountain, overlooking the entire village.

So that’s it....

Upon hearing Gauss’s explanation, the villagers instantly felt at ease.

”Lord Gauss, please continue your work.”

The ordinary villagers still held a deep respect for such a ”great person” as Gauss, and after greeting him, they dispersed.

Gauss was just estimating the number of logs in his mind.

Last night, after bringing the captives from the mountain back to the village,

he communicated with Village Chief Bruno.

Those willing to go home were sent back to their respective villages by the villagers.

As for those who had nowhere to go for various reasons, they stayed in the village.

These logs were prepared to build houses and defensive constructions for the villagers.

He also took the opportunity to practice Clay Magic.

The practice of magic itself is beneficial for leveling up, especially when done during outdoor adventures like this.

Another while passed.

More villagers woke up one after another.

At first glance, they were also attracted by the materials in the open space.

Soon, under the command of Village Chief Bruno, the villagers began to labor.

Transporting materials, driving piles, digging foundations; with the assistance of Gauss’s team and the clay creatures, the construction of the village advanced at an astonishing speed.

Of course, Gauss’s team and clay creatures did not handle everything.

Tasks that required skill and meticulous operation were left to the villagers, such as woodworking joints, filling wall gaps with a mix of mud and straw, roofing, etc.

The clay creatures mainly handled the heaviest physical tasks, like transporting logs, compacting foundations, and digging ditches.

When the villagers were exhausted, they could go to Aaliyah to receive a Magic Power Berry to relieve hunger and fatigue, while Serdur used spells to assist them.

The whole village was like an orderly anthill, with everyone engaged in busy labor.

Even those new villagers who were just rescued by Gauss and others yesterday, though Gauss originally intended for them to rest and recuperate, perhaps infected by the bustling labor atmosphere in the village, these people joined in the labor in a trance.

At first, they were a bit at a loss.

But as the sweat wetted their clothes and the dirt covered their hands and feet, they became more at ease.

Especially when hearing Gauss promise that some of the houses being built were for them, the numbness in their eyes gradually faded, and a light of hope slowly rose in their hearts.

Realizing they were building their future home.

And the sense of participation generated by this was unlike anything they had experienced when passively enduring hardships.

Gauss stood on the newly erected framework of the watchtower, looking over the busy village.

He also felt a slow rise of a sense of accomplishment in his heart.

Although this journey had just begun, these first two villages had each given him different experiences and insights.

He even felt that the speed of his gaining experience had been enhanced.

”Once the defenses start to take shape, basic combat training can begin,” Gauss said.

Beside him, a shadow slowly coalesced into form.

”Yesterday, I also scouted the distribution of monsters around the area,” Ying said.

Yesterday, while Gauss and others were out rescuing villagers, she wasn’t just waiting idly; she collected some intelligence as much as possible in advance.

”Did you find anything special?”

”To the east of the village, there seems to be a rather powerful demon; there are significantly fewer monsters there,” Ying answered simply.

”However, I didn’t explore further. I needed to keep an eye on the village.”

”Oh?”

Gauss hadn’t expected that there would indeed be a powerful demon nearby.

”Then let’s take a look in a couple of days.”

To him now, elite demons were no longer a match.

Level 6 or 7 demons, with a little help from teammates, he dared to challenge them.

Most of the time, it was difficult for him to encounter demons of a higher level unless he actively ventured into more dangerous areas.

....

The construction of the village showed initial results within two days.

The power of professionals and magic was immediate. With the help of Gauss and others, what might have taken a month was nearly finished in no time.
