I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 466: Chapter 270_3

These goblins surged with strange magic power on their bodies, whether it was their running speed or strength, they were faster than normal goblins.

Two guards stood on the vehicle roof, drawing bows and nocking arrows, shooting at the goblins.

Two goblins fell with a cry.

But after completing the shots, they immediately ducked down.

”Whoosh!”

An arrow grazed past their scalps.

The goblins also had archers of their own.

These guards were well-trained and coordinated fairly well, and even though they were at an absolute numerical disadvantage, they could still rely on temporary fortifications to hold their own against the goblins.

At the center of the defensive circle stood an elderly man dressed elegantly, exuding the aura of a professional.

A young man who bore a slight resemblance to him stood by his side.

”Grandfather, otherwise, let me go out to fight.”

The young man held a sword with a tense expression, but still spoke up.

”No rush, those goblins also have elite individuals.” The elder shook his head slightly, looking at his grandson’s eager face, still feeling he was too young.

He had observed that the combat power of this group of goblins was evidently unusual, unlike those harmless monsters by the roadside.

Once they left this temporary defensive circle and were completely surrounded by goblins, it would be an unwise move.

Moreover, he had no need to fight to the end.

If worst comes to worst, he could take his grandson and leave on a good horse, after all, wasn’t that the idea behind hiring these guards?

Sometimes, you don’t need to beat your enemies, just running faster than your teammates is enough.

The goblins kept ramming the carriage.

The guards seized the opportunity to kill a good number of goblins in succession.

As the battle was in a stalemate, suddenly, a carriage was flipped by several goblins flickering with strange red light.

”Bang!”

The carriage toppled.

The originally solid defense was instantly breached.

Seeing the exposed humans, the goblins’ eyes emitted a faint green light, like starving people eyeing a delicious feast.

Turbid saliva continuously dripped from their mouths, splashing onto the ground.

”Hold the line!”

The head of the guards shouted.

He braced with his shield.

No time to think, he had to act immediately.

If the goblins were allowed to flood in, their small team would be swallowed by the monster tide, all would be truly lost.

They would attack from all directions with claws and teeth aimed at their limbs, vital organs, and other weak spots.

”Whoosh!”

He swung his blade.

The goblin in front of him was swiftly cut in half at the waist.

Blood splattered, staining his large shield and the surrounding goblins.

Yet the other goblins showed little fear; instead, the scent of blood seemed to ignite their frenzy.

Green light in their eyes grew wilder.

The captain kept swinging his blade, the other guards desperately resisting.

But the goblins were too numerous, soon goblins climbed over the vehicle from other directions, jumped into the defensive circle, seizing the opportunity and quickly pounced on a guard, biting hard on his neck.

”Ah!!!”

These goblins, under special empowerment, moved even faster.

The captain heard the anguished cries of his comrades.

”Master Xi Ke, please lend us your aid!”

No response was heard.

”Master Xi Ke?”

He pushed forward with his shield, seizing the moment to glance back.

To his despair, the elder who was supposed to stand there confidently with his grandson was nowhere to be seen.

”Captain! That old guy slipped away!”

Other guards said desperately.

Hope shattered!

They never expected that the old mage, who just told them to hold on a bit longer while he prepared a spell, would have no desire to fight and simply abandoned them, his comrades-in-arms.

They had been fighting resiliently all along without losing heart, believing there was a professional mage in the team.

Once he finished his spell preparation, he could turn the tide of battle.

They never anticipated such an ending.

As their breath released, the guards’ fighting spirit ebbed away like the retreating tide.

Another went down.

It was over! Completely over!

The captain swallowed, swinging his blade faster.

Yet his strength alone was limited, and an endless stream of goblins poured through the gap.

He couldn’t kill them all, there’s no way he could take them all down by himself!

”Scratch!”

Suddenly, the goblin in front of him froze in motion.

It was as if time had pressed a pause button.

Even the flow of air seemed to stagnate in this brief moment.

Then in the next instant.

Several streaks of white light, like swallows, unexpectedly burst into the battlefield.

”Whoosh!!”

”Whoosh!!”

The goblins pressing down on people, lifting weapons yet to strike.

The white light had already kissed the taut necks of their blood vessels.

”Swish!”

Blood blossomed like flowers.

When this ended, the clock of time resumed moving.

”Thud, thud, thud!”

A succession of dropping heads sounded.

Guards pressed to the ground resisting frantically suddenly felt the bind on them loosen.

Raising their heads, they found the once ferocious goblins had turned into headless corpses.

Dead... dead?

Perhaps it happened too abruptly, many didn’t completely understand what had just happened.

Among the guards, only the captain vaguely caught the direction from which the white light came.

All the goblins appeared as if they were being controlled, standing stupidly in place.

Seizing the moment, he swiftly raised his head and looked upwards.

A tall man dressed in a simple black robe was floating in the sky.

A savior!

He finally exhaled in relief.

Before he could utter a word.

The figure in the sky swiftly disappeared again.

The next moment.

Among the goblin horde, a dreadful wail rose.

He lowered his head, looking at the battlefield before him.

His pupils contracted sharply.

Too fast!

In just the brief moment he lifted and lowered his head, the person slashed down countless goblins’ heads like a tiger among a flock of sheep.

It seemed not as if he was killing the goblins, but as if the goblins were willingly throwing themselves onto his blade.

And he was just dancing.

No goblin could resist even a moment under such a beautiful yet deadly dance.

So... so strong...

The captain kept gulping.

The scene before him left him dazed, as if the wolf-like opponents they had been fending off had suddenly lost all combat power, reduced to puppets merely offering their necks for slaughter.

After some time.

As the last and smallest goblin in the back of the goblin ranks had its heart pierced, the man leisurely stepped over the gray-green dark-red body tissue to stand before him.

”Congratulations to you.”

Congratulations to me?

The captain blinked in bewilderment.
