Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 522: Chapter 520: Hurry Up, Run There

Sirius was very popular at Hogwarts. As he walked into the auditorium, everyone’s eyes turned to him. The previously noisy auditorium suddenly became quiet, but soon the conversations grew even more fervent.

Harry looked extremely excited. He usually came to the auditorium after eight-thirty, but today he arrived half an hour early, at eight.

Seeing Sirius, he waved excitedly.

Of course, while some liked the new professor, Sirius, there were naturally those who didn’t.

A few Slytherins sneered and walked by.

”Happy, Potter?”

Seeing his expression, Malfoy couldn’t help but taunt, ”You better start praying now that he may last until next year... the previous Defence Against the Dark Arts professors didn’t end well.”

”Don’t worry, Malfoy, he definitely will.” Harry said, ”Even your dad managed to get off. Why can’t Sirius shake off the Defence Against the Dark Arts curse?

”Oh, speaking of which, I heard your family even sold the shop in Diagon Alley. Must have spent a lot, right?”

Malfoy’s pale face flushed slightly, and he instinctively reached for his wand.

”How dare you talk about my dad, Potter!”

”You spoke about Sirius first.” Harry also pulled out his wand, speaking confrontationally.

”What’s happening?” Sirius immediately walked over upon hearing the commotion.

”Pro... Professor!” Harry quickly said, ”It’s Malfoy, he was speaking ill about you.”

”Oh?”

Sirius looked at Malfoy, ”Hasn’t Snape taught you that you shouldn’t speak ill of professors behind their backs?”

”I didn’t.” Malfoy said stiffly, ”It’s Potter who slandered my dad...”

”Challenging a professor, five points from Slytherin... Sirius raised an eyebrow, ”Now, if you don’t want to be put in detention, go back to where you should be.”

Malfoy was furious and breathed heavily, ”I’ll tell Professor Snape about this, that you...”

”You better go right now.” Sirius taunted, ”Quickly, run, don’t make me wait too long.”

Malfoy stormed off angrily.

The next second, cheers erupted by the Gryffindor table. A few students stood on their benches, dancing and celebrating.

Before today, whenever Gryffindor and Slytherin had a conflict, it was always Gryffindor who got punished.

But things were different now.

Sirius’s actions just now were exactly like Snape’s before, only this time it was Slytherin who faced punishment.

Even though Sirius had already left, people around continued discussing what happened earlier.

”Don’t talk to me.” Ron whispered to Harry and Hermione, ”I want to remember this event forever. It’s wonderful; Hogwarts finally has a professor who favors us.”

”Yeah.” Harry was also delighted. He was the one Snape penalized the most, every time there was a conflict with the Slytherins, regardless of who was right or wrong, Snape would find trouble for him.

But now, no more... Harry watched Sirius leave, feeling a burst of excitement inside.

Hermione was the only one among them not cheering and celebrating. Even when Harry and Ron talked to her, she ignored them and just sat there staring at a plate of cornflakes in front of her, lost in thought.

And after this incident, many began to anticipate Sirius’s first class.

”We have Defence Against the Dark Arts on Wednesday.” Ron looked at his schedule, his expression somewhat disappointed, ”Why couldn’t he come a week earlier...”

Similar comments were numerous.

But none of this concerned the fifth years.

Professor Moody, as usual, walked into the classroom, stomping his wooden fake leg as if Sirius Black’s arrival hadn’t affected him at all.

”Disarming Charm,” he said. ”Does anyone know this charm?”

Cho raised her hand, ”Causes the opponent to lose their wand.”

”Absolutely correct,” Professor Moody said, ”I’d say the effect of this charm is not at all inferior to the Killing Curse. When a wizard loses his wand, he also loses the ability to resist. Of course, I mean when strengths are comparable.

”To say something you might not like, even without a wand, I could easily handle you... Well, most of you.”

His magic eye seemed to pause on Kael for a moment, then he continued, ”Disarming Spell, Stunning Spell, and Full Body-Bind Curse are also the three most frequently used charms by Aurors and Beaters.

”Moreover, I can tell you in advance, in the upcoming O.W.L exams, the Disarming Charm will definitely appear.”

Upon hearing about exams, everyone immediately sat up straight... Recently, they’d been driven mad by exams, dreaming every night about various scores.

Even Professor Trelawney’s daily predictions had turned into symbols of failing grades... much more effective than before. Anyone whose name was called would be anxious for days afterward.

This also gave Professor Trelawney a sense of great satisfaction, and the frequency of her prophecies increased even more.

Therefore, everyone naturally paid attention to this kind of guaranteed exam question.

”Speaking of the Disarming Charm...” Professor Moody’s magic eye rotated, ”I understand you were introduced to this charm in your third year. Come, let me see how much you’ve learned.”

He took out his wand, signaling the students in the first row to use the Disarming Charm on him.

”Ha, I just remember the spell.” A Ravenclaw boy stood up, confidently poking his wand forward, ”Expelliarmus!”

”Pop...” The tip of the wand spouted a cluster of sparks, flickered a few times and then went out, while Professor Moody’s wand remained firmly in his hand.

”This is a wand, Mr. Thomas, not a one-handed sword.” Professor Moody said calmly, ”You weren’t thinking of using it to jab my hand, were you.”

Laughter erupted all around, while the boy kept his head down, silent.

”Sit down.” Professor Moody said, ”Next one...”

The next one to stand up was still a Ravenclaw student. His performance was slightly better than the first, but he missed, blowing a hole in the window behind.

Another burst of laughter erupted.

But soon they stopped laughing because Professor Moody didn’t continue to check in seating order but chose to call out names directly.

Those who laughed the loudest didn’t escape, and then they became the laughing stock themselves.

”Seems I overestimated you.” Professor Moody only called out a third of the names and then gave up on this plan.

”How did you learn that you forgot it so quickly?”

Um...

They looked at each other, surely they couldn’t admit that while learning the charm, they were busy watching Lockhart make a fool of himself.

Moreover, the Dueling Club only held once, after which neither Lockhart nor other professors ever mentioned the Disarming Spell again.

It’s quite normal that they didn’t learn it.

”Alright, I understand.”

Professor Moody seemed to notice most people’s thoughts, then continued, ”Now, everyone put down your wands, open to page one hundred sixty-five in your books, and copy all the content about the Disarming Spell... I remind you again, this charm is very important and will definitely appear in the O.W.L exams.”

The room soon filled with the sound of scribbling notes, while Professor Moody stood at the front, using his magic eye to watch everyone’s movements, quietly muttering:

”Lockhart, that fraud, his only contribution to Hogwarts was probably letting you meet the Disarming Spell early.”
