Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 366: Chapter 364: Give Us a Reason Not to Kill You

In the afternoon, it’s Ancient Runes Class.

This year, Professor Babbling still couldn’t convince Dumbledore to let her combine the classes of several grades.

This made Professor Babbling very unhappy, and she passed this sentiment onto the students.

”The different arrangements of magic texts, how do they affect the completion of talismans?”

Cho looked at the content they were going to learn today and felt her head start to expand in circles.

”But professor...” She raised her hand and said, ”Isn’t this the last thing we’re supposed to learn? Today is only the first day of school!”

”Yes, you all performed well last school year...” Professor Babbling blinked her gray eyes and smiled as she said, ”So I’ve decided to skip the irrelevant process and spend more time teaching you something real.”

”Everyone, look here, there are many components to a talisman, we’ll start from the most complex one...”

Cho’s head expanded again.

When Professor Babbling drew out that talisman, she already couldn’t understand, and could only desperately try to listen while frantically jotting everything down.

Conna beside her was about the same; her hand never stopped, the quill almost sparking on the parchment.

By the end of class, Conna and Cho felt as if they had survived a disaster, both sighing with relief as they started massaging their wrists.

After taking notes non-stop for an entire class, they only felt their hands were numb and painful, almost losing sensation.

At this moment, Conna unintentionally noticed Kael’s parchment on the desk, completely clean, without a single word.

”Kael, did you understand it all?” She asked.

Hearing this, Cho also turned her head to look at Kael, the expression on her face as if she was staring at a monstrosity with eight arms and five heads...

Clearly not human.

”Understand it all? No.” Kael shook his head. ”This content needs to be accumulated bit by bit, Professor Babbling said too much, too jumbled, how can you learn it all in one class?”

”Then why didn’t you take notes?”

Conna was puzzled, ”Did you not hear clearly? Do you want to copy mine?”

She pushed her thick stack of parchment over to Kael, ”But I missed a lot of the content, it’s probably not very complete.”

”I’m the same.”

Cho also moved her stack of parchment over, ”You can compare while you copy, if there’s anything different, it can also help us mark it out...”

Cho only felt her head was swollen and dizzy, not wanting to look at the content again anytime soon.

”There’s no need, I don’t plan to take notes.”

Kael looked at them and said, ”I didn’t plan to from the beginning, otherwise I would’ve used a speedwriting quill to jot it all down.”

”Oh... speedwriting quill...”

Cho grabbed her hair, letting out a groan of pain, ”Damn it, how did I forget that!”

But Conna suddenly realized something, frowned and said, ”You... didn’t take notes?”

”Yes.”

Kael shrugged, taking out a thick book and placing it on the desk.

”The Evolution of Magic Text Talisman”

”Someone recommended me to take a look at this last school year, so I borrowed it from the library for a year.”

Saying this, Kael flipped to one of the pages, pointing at the content above, ”Look for yourselves, isn’t this exactly what Professor Babbling said.”

”And here too...” Kael flipped through a few more pages.

Two heads leaned over closely...

After a moment of silence, the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat strange.

Conna and Cho appeared on either side of Kael, the surrounding air pressure terrifyingly low.

”You have one minute to explain.” Conna bared her teeth, glaring fiercely at Kael.

Cho also clenched her fists, ”Give us a reason not to kill you.”

”But... it’s not my fault, I reminded you both.”

Kael looked at Conna, ”I’ve told you at least three times, these contents are all in the book, you don’t need to note them down, but you didn’t listen, every time you told me to shut up and not distract you.”

”And you were worse.” He looked over to Cho on the other side, ”I nudged your arm when I saw you didn’t respond, but you actually tried to kick me... Luckily, I dodged quickly.”

Kael lifted the hem of his robe, where half of a shoeprint was still visible.

Cho’s face turned red in an instant, stammering, unable to speak.

Putting it this way, she did remember there was such a thing, but at that time Professor Babbling was talking about a crucial point, she didn’t notice Kael’s words, and instinctively reacted.

Another moment of silence...

Cho and Conna quietly gathered their notes, then turned and quickly rushed out of the classroom.

...

By the time dinner came around, they had already borrowed the book from the library and were reading it at the dining table.

For professional knowledge-type books like this, the library often has many copies of each kind, and it’s rare to have a wait-list situation.

Seeing them absorbed in reading, Kael didn’t disturb them and walked over to sit beside Cedric.

Tonight the auditorium was especially lively, especially the Gryffindor and Slytherin tables.

Even from afar, Kael could hear Ron’s booming voice...

He was animatedly boasting to Fred about something.

”I saw a baby unicorn for the first time, you would never guess, it was gold!”

”Hagrid is amazing...” Hermione also said beside him, ”I read in a book that baby unicorns are very rare, they usually remain deep in the forest, under tight protection.”

”I even held it...”

Ron squinted with a somewhat sleazy expression, ”I don’t want to wash my hands for the entire school year.”

Fred and George stepped back in disdain.

”Did you notice Malfoy?”

Harry was also excited, ”From the time we got to the paddock, he kept causing trouble for Hagrid, but after seeing the baby unicorn, he shut up.”

”If you ask me, Hagrid shouldn’t let that kind of guy touch the unicorn...”

”Ron, Hagrid is a professor now!” Hermione said discontentedly, ”He has to treat every student fairly.”

”Yes, you’re right...” Ron nonchalantly said, ”But obviously Snape doesn’t think so.”

...

”Oh my, a unicorn!”

Cedric also heard their conversation, mouth agape in surprise, ”It’s unbelievable, when we were in third year, we just had Bowtruckle and Puffskein, last year was Fire Salamander!”

”Do you think it’s only for third years, or is it the same for all grades?”

”Not sure about that.” Kael looked at the lively Gryffindor and Slytherin, ”But you could ask him.”

”I’ll do it first thing tomorrow morning.”

Cedric was still a little incredulous, ”How do you think Hagrid managed it, unicorns are very wary fantastic beasts, I’ve never heard of anyone seeing them in class before, let alone babies.”

Kael simply continued eating his steak without a word.

Kael wasn’t surprised Hagrid brought a unicorn.

If there’s anyone at Hogwarts who could make unicorns feel at ease, it would be Hagrid.

Even Professor Kettleburn before retirement couldn’t do it, otherwise he wouldn’t have gotten pierced in the belly before.

”This year’s classes are amazing, Defence Against the Dark Arts is like this, Care of Magical Creatures too...” Cedric said excitedly as he looked at his schedule, ”Unfortunately, we have to wait until Friday for Hagrid’s class.”
