Chapter 360: Chapter 358: Professor Lupin’s First Earnings

The person who came in was a little witch, looking about twelve or thirteen years old, also one of the spectators at the door.

”Are there any badges left?” Seeing Kael not speaking, she asked again, ”I want to buy one too.”

”Of course there are!” Realizing, Kael quickly reached into his pocket and took out a large handful, ”How many do you want.”

”Just one.” The little witch stepped forward, picked a silver one, and gave Kael two Galleons.

Not everyone is like Neville, who often loses things, naturally doesn’t need to buy so many.

”Oh... good choice, scales of the Antipodean Opaleye.”

Kael smiled and said, ”That’s a very powerful Fire Dragon, it can swallow an entire sheep in one bite.”

”Is this Fire Dragon very strong?” The little witch seemed pleasantly surprised.

”Very strong.” Kael nodded affirmatively, ”And they are also the most beautiful among Fire Dragons, admired by many people.”

The little witch’s eyes grew brighter and she walked away happily with the badge.

With her example, others who were still watching outside couldn’t resist and all walked in.

Two Galleons are expensive, but now it’s just the beginning of the semester, the time when their pocket money is most plentiful, so two Galleons are still affordable.

Besides, it’s better when it’s expensive. If it’s too cheap, they wouldn’t dare to buy it.

Not to mention, it’s made from Fire Dragon scales, which are quite durable. Even if they don’t need it anymore, they can sell it in Diagon Alley... at least one Galleon is guaranteed.

The first few people picked all the white ones, and a young wizard who came later hesitated for a long time before choosing a blue one.

”Oh, Swedish Short-Snout...” Kael laughed, ”They have unique blue flames and are quick and nimble, a nightmare for other Fantastic Beasts.”

”Are they strong?”

”That’s unquestionable.” Kael laughed, ”A wise choice, I bet you’re in Ravenclaw.”

”That’s right!”

Then someone else picked a green one.

”Common Welsh Green, their Dragon Flame can spray twenty feet...”

Someone chose the bronze one...

”Peruvian Vipertooth, compared to other Fire Dragons, they have more lethal weapons.”

...

The crowd around grew larger, but not all were there to buy things. More were curious and came to watch the excitement.

After all, most students’ pocket money for the entire school year is less than ten Galleons, and two Galleons is not a small amount.

Moreover, they think Dementors can’t enter the school, so spending two Galleons on a badge is a bit extravagant... though it is indeed very cool.

Fortunately, watching the excitement doesn’t cost money.

Everyone gathered outside, the door frame of the compartment soon made creaking sounds, being squeezed out of shape.

”Ron, could you help manage the order a bit?”

Kael turned back and said, ”I’ll pay you two Galleons.”

Ron initially wanted to refuse, because he had to take care of Harry.

Until Kael finished the latter half of his sentence...

”No problem, leave it to me!”

He stuffed Harry into a corner and immediately stood up, walked outside with his chest raised high, ”Line up to buy things, everyone else return to their compartments...”

”Keep quiet... what? You ask who I am? My brother is the Head Boy!”

...

Not just Ron, even Lupin got up to help maintain order.

Of course, he wasn’t doing it for those two Galleons... but because of his duties as a professor.

As an adult wizard, his words naturally carried more weight than Ron. The people watching the excitement soon left, and the ones buying things lined up orderly and entered the compartment.

...

Thirty minutes later, Kael sent away the last group, and meanwhile, the train gradually came to a stop.

This time it really reached the station.

Students began getting off the train, Kael took two Galleons from the pile beside him and handed them to Ron, ”Here you go, as we agreed.”

Ron excitedly rubbed his hands on his clothes before carefully taking them.

He squinted his eyes, carefully feeling the gold Galleons in his hand, as if dreaming; it was his first time holding so much money.

Then, Kael took out two more Galleons and handed them to Lupin.

Lupin was staring at that pile of Galleons in a daze at the moment, but seeing Kael’s action, he quickly shook his head, firmly refusing.

”I’m a professor...” he said seriously, ”Helping is my duty.”

”No, the principal hasn’t announced the news yet, so strictly speaking, you aren’t really a professor yet.”

Kael threw the two Galleons over without giving him a chance to refuse, ”Take them, sir, as a professor, you should have a decent robe.”

After saying that, Kael left the compartment.

Lupin quickly caught the two Galleons, wanting to return them, but seeing the patches on his clothes, he hesitated.

Kael was right, he did need a decent outfit.

Forget it, I’ll return them after getting paid.

Lupin chuckled and shook his head, never expecting the first money he got at Hogwarts wasn’t Dumbledore’s salary, but a student’s reward.

Thirty minutes, two Galleons... before this, he couldn’t earn that much in two months.

”Students are so wealthy these days,” Lupin sighed inwardly.

On the other side, after Kael got off the train, two hands suddenly reached out from the left and right.

”Where’s our reward?” Fred asked.

”What reward?” Kael looked at him puzzled.

”Don’t play dumb; you can’t fool us,” George said, ”We helped too, as well as Cedric and Ginny.”

”Hand over the money, two Galleons, we can’t get less than Ron.”

”Reward? Not a chance!” Kael said matter-of-factly, ”Helping is what you should do.”

”So...” Fred raised his eyebrow, looking displeased.

Kael continued forward without looking back, ”No money, go away...”

”Then we two with George, just two Galleons...” Fred lowered his request, ”Or even a Sickle.”

”Nothing.”

”Even a Knut maybe.”

”Not even a Knut, how about Neville.”

Fred and George’s faces turned green.

Ginny clutched a handful of sweets, giggling nonstop nearby.

Cedric was laughing too, naturally aware of why Kael tried finding reasons to give Galleons to Ron and Professor Lupin, as without them, those badges couldn’t have sold so quickly.

The group laughed as they headed towards the carriages, Conna, Cho, and Luna were already waiting ahead.

Since they weren’t familiar with Harry and the others, they didn’t go over there earlier but stayed in the compartment.

They initially thought they might return in ten minutes, but unexpectedly, they waited till now.

”Why did it take you all so long?”

”Was Potter severely hurt?” Conna asked, ”We wanted to go look earlier, but it was so crowded, the way was completely blocked, we couldn’t get in at all.”

”It’s not serious.” Kael said, ”Young people are prone to drowsiness, he’ll be fine after sleeping.”

”Then why did it take you so long?”

”Something small happened in between... I’ll explain on the way.”

Kael led the way onto a carriage and used the Undetectable Extension Charm until it was enough to sit eight people.

He was already quite adept at using this charm.

Then, the others also boarded the carriage.
