Ferocious Boss: Hubby, Let’s Get Married

Chapter 650: Yan Qingsi’s Crisis 3

Ye Shaoguang looked at Ji Mianmian’s reddened eyes and wet hair. Her body reeked of alcohol and her face was filled with pure anxiety. She looked miserable, just like a lost kid.

Ye Shaoguang frowned. “You made yourself into such a mess within that short period of time? Where’s all that gutsiness you had when you faced me?”

Ji Mianmian held in her tears. She was afraid to cry because she was worried that she would crumble once she started crying.

She grasped Ye Shaoguang’s hands and said feebly, “I couldn’t find her. What should I do now?”

She could barely hear what Ye Shaoguang was saying. However, at a time where she really needed help but was so helpless that she did not know what to do, Ye Shaoguang appeared.

Ji Mianmian even forgot what Ye Shaoguang did in the past and could not remember whether the man was friend or foe. All that mattered was that he was the only person she knew, and the only person she saw within her peripheral vision. He was the only person she could rely on, the only one who gave her hope.

Ji Mianmian’s tears, Ji Mianmian’s helplessness, Ji Mianmian’s weaknesses…

Ye Shaoguang saw them all and it was a side of her he never saw before. It was completely different from the Ji Mianmian he knew.

“Ji Mianmian, is Yan Qingsi really that important to you?”

Ye Shaoguang’s thoughts turned involute and he could not describe what he was feeling. It reminded him of… his childhood, where a Chinese date tree was growing in the courtyard of his home. Kids were naturally curious, and when the Chinese date tree bore fruit, he could not resist plucking out one to try even though the fruit was green and unripe.

The dates were neither sour nor sweet. They were tasteless but tart, so once it was popped into the mouth, the acerbic taste remained on his tongue. No amount of water could flush it away.

Despite knowing that it was what it was, he still could not resist plucking one a day, every single day. He thought constantly, ‘What if… the one I plucked today turns out sweet?’

Ye Shaoguang appeared to have been transported to his younger days. He knew what the answer to his question was, yet he could not resist asking every single time. On every occasion, Ji Mianmian did not even need to answer him— he was able to understand everything by looking at her expression alone.

Ji Mianmian held Ye Shaoguang’s hand tightly. She used quite some force, causing Ye Shaoguang to feel pain, and at the same time, he could also feel that Ji Mianmian’s body was shaking incessantly.

Ye Shaoguang sighed. For better or worse, he had muddleheadedly chosen to be involved in that matter, so… he decided to just continue getting involved.

“Where did this lunatic come from? Scram, go away…”

Ye Shaoguang lightly patted the back of Ji Mianmian’s hand and looked up at the fat man.

Ye Shaoguang was more beautiful than a woman. His smile was very charming, with androgynous qualities that could baffle a person’s intellect.

He said, “Do you mind taking that bottle of red wine from the table and handing it to me? Thank you!”

The fat man was stunned by Ye Shaoguang’s smile and was confounded by it. He gulped, and his subconscious compelled him to turn around, pick up the bottle, and hand it over to Ye Shaoguang.

Taking the wine bottle from the man, Ye Shaoguang thanked him politely once more. “Thank you!”

The fat man said, “No… No prob…”

Before the last syllable could even be uttered, a loud thump was heard.

The bottle of wine was smashed on the fat man’s head. Wine spilled everywhere and the bottle shattered.

Ye Shaoguang was holding half the bottle in his hand. He slowly retracted his arm and tossed the remaining part of the bottle onto the ground. His actions were done at a moderate pace, giving the impression of grace and leisureliness.
