Child of Destiny

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Adelbert could not help but frown deeply after seeing the current situation. He could not help but feel a bit humiliated after almost being killed by those beams of light.

From what just happened, it felt like it was his fault that the situation had turned out this way. It was clear that because he had taken the initiative to change the flow of the battle and controlled the entire army, he was put in such a predicament.

Not only that, but the overall situation was slowly getting worse. It was as if more problems rose, the more he tried to control the situation.

It was as if he were weaker and more stupid than the Lich beside him, which was only being controlled by the AI and blindly copying every move Chaotic Luck used.

Anyone could see that the state of the battle was currently like this due to his earlier decision.

“Tsk! I guess he has gotten me,” he mumbled along with a bitter smile.

However, he did not immediately get discouraged or lose himself. Instead, he felt more fired up due to all this.

“Ah~! It will be a good opportunity to fight with such an interesting guy. Unfortunately, my job still has to come first,” he mumbled after feeling that this was enough.

…

The battle lasted for a bit longer, but Adelbert did not make any sudden moves. Instead, he just continued fighting Chaotic Luck and tried to beat the latter in terms of strategies along with the Lich on his side.

Unfortunately, the mana pool of the Lich was not as deep as that of their opponent, making it exhaust everything it had until there was nothing left.

Due to this, the number of their army continued to decrease until the Legion of Chaotic Sun finally overwhelmed them.

Their army was immediately annihilated at that point, resulting in another victory for Chaotic Luck.

“I’ll remember you, kid,” mumbled Adelbert while giving Chaotic Luck yet another deep look before returning to their platform.

“I’m sorry, Branch Manager. It seems like I have underestimated that kid a bit too much and got careless in the end,” he said, acting humble and submissive before Gunner.

Gunner squinted his eyes while staring at his assistant for a while before reprimanding the latter. “You have even used that scroll, yet you are still unable to win? You’re such a waste!”

Adelbert did not say anything and continued to bow before Gunner until the latter dismissed him.

…

With this result, another rotation had ended.

Proceeding to another, it was the Heavenly Resto-Bar’s turn to send their next combatant to start the next rotation.

“I’ll be going then,” said Ryoto while standing up. He was planning to represent the team for this round.

“Oh! You look very eager, Senior,” said Arthur after seeing Ryoto immediately stand up.

Ryoto chuckled when he heard this and said. “Let’s say that I am itching to fight as well after watching all those battles.”

“I’ll be going ahead,” he said while turning to Aoki and Riko.

Coincidentally, he happened to see a person standing up from the ranks of the Dragon Pavilion, whom he happened to recognize due to the huge war axes on his back.

“Berserk Dragon? This is going to be a rematch, then,” he said while smirking.

He was feeling excited since they would have a chance to finish their earlier battle from the previous trial.

However, when he stepped on the battlefield, he immediately realized that someone was already standing at its center and seemingly waiting for him.

He swiftly raised his head and realized that the other person was from the side of the Hydra Guild.

“Eh!? Since when has this guy arrived here?” he mumbled while staring at his opponent.

His eyes had also become extremely wary after sensing a dangerous air coming from this person.

…

In the meantime, Arthur and Aoki immediately squinted their eyes after realizing the same thing. They had even gotten a deeper impression from that person, especially when they laid their eyes on him.

“It should be that guy, right?” asked Aoki while staring intently at the opposing side. “The one who has taken over the entire operation from Viper?”

“It should be,” nodded Arthur without taking his eyes off the opposing side.

He could not explain it clearly, but he felt that this guy’s aura was extremely familiar. It might not be the person themself, but the aura that they carried.

Arthur felt that he had already sensed it somewhere before, but he was not sure where it came from.

However, the sense of danger that was coming from the opposing side became more distinct because of this.

“Senior is in deep trouble this time,” he mumbled with an extremely grave tone.

“Not just trouble. He is up for a serious beating if he doesn’t go all out in this one,” added Aoki with a serious tone.

Riko, who did not have senses as sharp as theirs, could not help but ask. “Is that guy really that dangerous?”

“Dangerous?” repeated Aoki while raising his brows. He then shook his head while saying. “That guy is more than just that.”

“In our terms, we can put him on the same level as those people known as the incarnation of death. That guy should be an extremely dangerous assassin in the real world.”

Hearing this, Riko could not help but give the opposing party another deep look, observing that person with a scrutinizing gaze.

Not long after, the system finally announced the start of the battle.

However, right after the ring from the system sounded, something absurd suddenly appeared.

“What!?”

…

On the battlefield, Ryoto immediately put his guard up, preparing for an intense battle.

He had even initiated most of his advanced skills, especially the one that constantly released a powerful water and created a Pseudo Domain around him. He had also activated several buffs under his arsenal to further enhance his overall strength.

He was fully prepared for this battle, planning to go all out right from the start.

*Ding*

Right after the signal from the system rang in his ears, he tightly grasped his greatsword with both of his hands and swiftly swung it with all his might while also controlling the surrounding waters.

Swoosh!

The surrounding water immediately turned into a huge and violent tide following his action.

Roar!

It then turned into a huge beast that looked like a whale that opened its mouth wide, attempting to swallow its opponent.

Such a powerful opening move was something that could not be ignored even for experts of their level, especially when it covered a huge area that made it hard to avoid.

The only choice before this move was to face it head-on. However, facing it directly could cause serious consequences.

However, something unexpected happened during this time.

From Ryoto’s perspective, the time seemed to have slowed down bit by bit before gradually stopping.

The time seemed to have been frozen!

Ryoto’s eyes contracted when he saw this, especially when he was very familiar with this ability. It was something similar to what Aoki usually used against him during their training sessions.

This ability was to create an illusion where the opposition felt like time had stopped, while their opponent was the only one capable of moving.

However, the true essence of this ability was something created by moving extremely fast – so fast that the surroundings became so slow that they became statues from their perspective.

Staring blankly upfront, Ryoto saw his opponent slowly and calmly walking toward him as if they were having a walk in the park.

At the same time, he also saw the opposing side pulling out a sword from their back in a very relaxed manner.

He then saw the latter steadily turn that sword and gently swing it at him.

Shing!

All Ryoto could do was watch the blade of that sword slowly approach him before cutting through his neck without facing any form of resistance.

Ryoto was unable to feel the pain when all this happened. All he knew was his body freezing like a statue and unable to respond to his opponent’s move.

He could only watch himself die in the process, powerless to do anything.

“What!? What-… heck is that-…”

He was still unable to believe what was happening when his vision slowly turned dark, signifying that he was dying.

Click!

The lasting memory that he remembered was the sound of the sword returning to its sheath and the locking of its scabbard.

Thud!

His body fell on the ground with a soft sound while the surrounding violent tide suddenly became tamed and gentle.

The entire place was suddenly filled with silence, staring blankly at the sight before them. Even for apex experts like them, such a feat was incredibly hard, especially when their opponent was equally powerful, or at least a bit weaker than them.

They all could not help but turn their gaze to this person, making them guess the identity of this mysterious person.

This was even more true for the side of the Dragon Pavilion, who were their archrivals.
