Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

“What’s wrong? Is there a problem?”

Qin Ling picked up on the Sect Leader’s subtle unease.

This was a critical moment. The slightest misstep could cause the entire plan to fail, and with only one chance, he couldn’t afford the consequences of failure.

“It’s nothing. Let’s continue.”

The Sect Leader answered immediately.

He had sensed the volatile surge of energy inside Tang Mo’s body. As time passed, the energy within her wasn’t just failing to decrease—it was growing stronger.

This meant that if they hesitated and paused the plan, an even worse situation would undoubtedly be waiting for them.

‘Rather than distract Qin Ling with this bad news,’ he thought, ‘it’s better to just go all-in and proceed with the original plan.’

The Sect Leader steadied his nerves and withdrew his energy from Tang Mo’s Sea of Consciousness, preparing to follow the plan and escort Qin Ling’s Agility Pearl inside to repair the damage.

Just then, a pink ball of consciousness, which had been playing cheerfully with Da Jing on the seabed, suddenly froze.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

The little blue whale, seeing that the pink ball of light it had just been roughhousing with had stopped, couldn’t help but stop as well and ask.

At that moment, Tang Mo felt it. The opportunity she had been waiting for all these days had finally arrived.

This time, the pink energy wasn’t like the elusive tentacles from before that would touch her and then vanish, impossible to grasp.

This time, the energy was like a raging torrent, surging forward and instantly swallowing Tang Mo’s entire conscious form.

Meanwhile, a worried Da Jing circled Tang Mo. Getting no reply, it could only watch as its good friend grew bigger and bigger.

Da Jing had originally matched its size to that of Tang Mo’s pink ball of light.

Now that Tang Mo’s ball of light was getting bigger, the anxious Da Jing subconsciously began to grow larger as well.

“Da Jing, it’s okay. I feel like my energy has come for me. I might be going back. I’ll see you again.”

Tang Mo knew exactly what was happening to her. She was also keenly aware that this was a crucial opportunity—quite possibly her last.

Spending these past few days with Da Jing had quietly changed many of Tang Mo’s perspectives. After shedding burdens she never should have carried in the first place, she found that she actually wanted to keep on living.

If she had the chance.

And now, that chance was right in front of her.

Submerged in the torrent that sought her, Tang Mo felt a warmth spread through her entire consciousness from the inside out. It was a profound, soul-deep comfort.

Like an infant resting securely in its mother’s embrace, Tang Mo focused on merging and connecting with this stream of energy.

All of this seemed slow, but it all happened in an instant.

At that moment, the Emotional Pearl inside Tang Mo’s body had completely shattered. All its energy was gushing out of her body like a flood from a broken dam.

After absorbing all the pink energy in the ocean, Tang Mo seized the opportunity. While the energy still formed a link between her consciousness and her physical body, she followed the stream all the way back.

If Tang Mo’s slow, meandering journey here had taken a very long time, then following the energy back now was like traveling at the speed of light, flowing along with the current.

Meanwhile, Qin Ling, who was about to begin, also clearly realized something was wrong. Too much energy was flowing out of Momo’s body.

“What on earth is happening?”

Qin Ling’s face darkened. He felt that nothing was going according to plan.

‘What’s happening to Momo’s body?’ he wondered. ‘Was our estimate—that she could hold on for another half a month—wrong? Can she really not last that long?’

“Let’s begin. This… is our only chance. If we don’t start now, it might be too late.”

The Sect Leader sighed, the sorrow in his voice audible no matter how he tried to conceal it.

The blood drained from Qin Ling’s face, leaving it deathly pale. But backing down now was impossible. Just as he had thought before, even if there was only a ten percent chance, he had to do it.

Meanwhile, Tang Mo’s consciousness had returned to the familiar tent, where she saw the tense figures of the Sect Leader and Qin Ling sitting beside her.

Tang Mo couldn’t spare a moment to think about how much she missed them. She had clearly sensed the Sect Leader’s energy fluctuation, and seeing their current stance, she knew they were about to extract Qin Ling’s Agility Pearl.

At this moment, Tang Mo didn’t even have time to be moved by Qin Ling’s willingness to sacrifice so much to save her. She just wanted to get back into her body as quickly as possible and stop all of this.

Just now, while merging with the energy at the bottom of the sea, she had already figured out what this pink energy was. It was the Emotional Pearl—that big pearl she had always disdained.

Not only that, but an idea had also formed in Tang Mo’s mind.

‘All this time, I never knew what purpose this pink energy served in my body,’ she thought. ‘But now… could this energy be used to repair my Sea of Consciousness instead of the Agility Pearl?’

The Sect Leader and Qin Ling were about to begin. Leading the huge pink mass of energy, Tang Mo slammed it back into her own body.

Her Sea of Consciousness was already shattered; when it had ruptured, her consciousness had been forcibly expelled.

With too little energy and a damaged Sea of Consciousness, she had been unable to return.

But things were different now. Tang Mo had become one with the pink energy.

Besides, the Emotional Pearl had always been rich in energy. There was still some residual pink energy in her Sea of Consciousness that hadn’t fully dissipated, and riding this momentum was the perfect way to get back in.

By the time Tang Mo’s consciousness returned to her Sea of Consciousness, the Sect Leader’s spiritual power was already enveloping Qin Ling’s pearl, beginning its attempt to enter her body.

With her consciousness back in her body, she regained a sliver of control, however faint.

Tang Mo tried hard to open her mouth to speak, but she couldn’t.

She tried opening her eyes, but that didn’t work either.

Her consciousness had been away from her body for too long. Now that it had just returned, and with her Sea of Consciousness so damaged, regaining immediate control of her body was an impossible task.

‘No, this can’t happen!’ she thought. ‘I finally figured out a way. If they let Qin Ling’s Agility Pearl in now, it will all be a waste.’

‘Even if the Emotional Pearl’s energy can repair my Sea of Consciousness, it will definitely take time. Right now, the energy inside is at its most volatile. If the Sect Leader’s spiritual power comes in and sees this, he’ll be at his most anxious.’

‘Knowing the Sect Leader, he’ll definitely think I’m in extreme danger and immediately try to melt down the Agility Pearl for me.’

Tang Mo did indeed have a good read on the Sect Leader. His assessment just now had been precisely that.
