Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 197: Chapter 187: A Little Punishment

Tang Mo really couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

She had seen narcissistic people before, but never one to this degree.

Just a savage who happened to be born with a normal nose, eyes, and mouth, yet she really thought she was some kind of goddess.

’This must be what all frogs in a well, ignorant of the outside world, are like.’

But now wasn’t the time to have a complete falling out with these savages. Tang Mo planned to collect a little interest first.

She took some rosemary, a local specialty of this tribe, from her Space and used her spiritual power to send a small gust of wind carrying the scent inside.

A taste of their own medicine.

Soon, Lea was slumped over the table, fast asleep and motionless.

Tang Mo walked in boldly through the door, pulled a pair of scissors from her Space, and began to collect her interest.

She had just watched this woman spend a long time combing her hair, so it must be very precious to her.

’I wonder if she’ll be pleasantly surprised when she wakes up and finds her precious little braids look like a messy weed patch?’ Tang Mo thought with malicious glee.

After cutting her hair, Tang Mo still wasn’t satisfied. The thought of how much Qin Ling had suffered at her hands made her feel that even Lea’s death would be no great loss.

Tang Mo felt not a shred of pity. ’Why should I? If I had arrived any later, Qin Ling would have been the one to die.’

’Showing mercy to an enemy is being cruel to yourself.’

But letting her die now would be too easy. She wanted this woman to watch with her own eyes as her tribe declined, perished, and finally vanished from the world, all because of her.

Tang Mo stripped off all her clothes and then tied her, spread-eagled, to a chair.

After all that was done, she used her ID Watch, which no longer had a signal, to set an alarm. Then, with a clear conscience, she lay down on the bed in the room and closed her eyes to rest.

She had always been adept at finding the most comfortable way to live, even in the most basic environments.

In a place like this, Tang Mo naturally sent out her spiritual power to keep watch while she entered a deep, incredibly sound sleep.

After all, a wooden hut that sheltered her from the wind and rain was far more comfortable than a cave.

「A few hours later, at the crack of dawn, the alarm Tang Mo had set went off right on time.」

Tang Mo opened her eyes, tidied herself up a bit, glanced at the still-unconscious Lea, then walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.

She set a fire in the warehouse to the right. Once the blaze grew large, she hid in a towering tree nearby, found a sturdy branch to settle on, and quietly waited to enjoy the show.

”Help, someone! The warehouse is on fire!”

It was already morning, and most people were already awake. Tang Mo’s shout jolted the entire tribe to full alertness.

They ran out to see that the most important place in the entire tribe was on fire!

Men and women, young and old, all sprang into action, grabbing the largest containers they owned and rushing to the nearby water source before heading for the fire.

The fire spread quickly, and Lea’s house was about to be engulfed in the flames.

By the time everyone returned with water, they saw the chief and his wife at the doorway, anxiously shouting and cursing.

”Lea is still in the room! Hurry up and get in there to save her!”

With a fire that big, if Lea didn’t get out soon, she would likely die.

But Lea’s house was already burning. They were all flesh and blood; no one dared to rush in recklessly.

”Go! Get the hell in there, now!”

The chief was furious, viciously kicking the people next to him.

But such is human nature. No matter how worried he was about his beloved daughter, his own feet didn’t move an inch.

”Whoever can save Lea, I will marry her to him, and he will be the next chief!”

Seeing that everyone was too afraid for their own lives to move, the chief made a desperate offer.

He only had this one daughter. He was old now and couldn’t produce another heir, so he certainly couldn’t let his only daughter die in the fire.

As the saying goes, a great reward makes a brave man. Soon, a relatively young, short man, draped in a large, water-soaked leaf, charged in.

The door of the house was already on fire, but perhaps the temptation of the tribe’s number one beauty and the position of chief was too great. After a brief hesitation, the man steeled himself and rushed inside.

A moment later, the man charged back out, carrying a chair.

Just as everyone was wondering why he had brought out a chair instead of a person, he set it down. They all saw Lea, tied to the chair, stark naked.

The man who had rushed in, his face already blackened by soot, now looked even more horrified as he stared at the woman on the chair.

It was obvious Lea had been violated, and now, with everyone gathered around the fire, her entire body had been exposed for all to see.

The people of the tribe didn’t place an extremely high value on chastity, but they were monogamous, and a basic sense of honor and shame still existed.

”What are you looking at! Close your eyes, all of you!”

Seeing his daughter in this state, the chief instantly flew into a rage and bellowed.

He immediately ripped the animal hide off a man beside him and threw it over his daughter.

In that moment, with this reality laid bare, his own humiliation outweighed his concern for his daughter.

’It would have been better if Lea had just died in the fire. That way, both her dignity and mine would have been preserved.’

For a split second, the chief regretted his earlier decision.

He grabbed water from someone nearby and splashed it on his daughter’s face.

Soon, Lea, who was already on the verge of waking up as the drug’s effects wore off, slowly came to.

She opened her eyes and was startled to find a crowd of people around her. Then she felt a strange chill all over her body...

”AHHH!!!”

Realizing her current situation, Lea let out a piercing shriek. ’What’s going on? How could this have happened?!’

”What are you waiting for? Help untie her!”

His face utterly lost, the chief glared at his wife.

In the tribe, women with weak combat strength had very low status. The chief’s wife said nothing, silently moving to untie her daughter.

Lea had been doted on since childhood. Coupled with her considerable strength and high Talent, which was nearly equivalent to that of an adult man, she had always sided with her father, looking down on her mother. Sometimes, she would even join her father in beating her.

For a daughter like this, her mother truly couldn’t muster any maternal affection. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have just stood behind the chief for so long without making a move, watching as if she were a stranger.

”Father, what’s going on! How did I get drugged with rosemary!”

As someone who had grown up in the tribe, she was all too familiar with their treasured rosemary. Just from the lingering scent on her body, she could tell she had been drugged.
