Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 166: Chapter 156: A Last-Minute Decision

Tang Mo saw the unease in their eyes. She got up from behind the desk and walked over to the mattress.

This bedridden middle-aged man was the patient in the worst condition, and Tang Mo prepared to treat him first.

She took out a small stool, sat down beside the man, and then placed her hand on his arm.

Tang Mo had observed that the people brought to her were all men in the prime of their lives, suffering from widespread infections caused by wounds from mutant beast bites or strikes.

Wuxi Village was already isolated and backward, and now medical supplies were scarce.

In the past, this was something that could be solved with antibiotics and disinfected bandages. But in the apocalypse, it had become an incurable affliction, a death sentence.

Getting injured outside meant waiting to die, but staying home meant starving to death. With such a desperate existence, it was no wonder the people of Wuxi Village had lost hope and were just living day to day.

However, this actually made things easier for Tang Mo. Infections caused by wounds could be resolved simply by cleaning the area around the injury and allowing the wound to heal.

This greatly reduced Tang Mo’s workload.

The infection on the man before her was on his waist and was already quite deep, which was why it affected his movement.

Slowly restructuring her spiritual power into a special formation, Tang Mo began to channel it out and heal the man.

Below, the villagers’ eyes widened, and they stared intently, waiting to see if a miracle would happen.

They didn’t believe this young girl on the stage could really pull a dying person back from the brink of death.

Yet, in their hearts, every single one of them truly hoped she could do it. They hoped a crack could be torn in their desperate lives, letting in a sliver of sunlight and a breath of air.

The moment Tang Mo’s spiritual power flowed out, almost everyone held their breath.

Most of them were Spirit Attribute Superpower Users and were extremely sensitive to spiritual power.

Although Tang Mo’s attribute values were far higher than theirs, since she wasn’t deliberately hiding her power, everyone could still feel the dense output of spiritual power from the stage.

Tang Mo was really using spiritual power to save people...

Fifteen minutes later, Tang Mo withdrew her hand and stood up.

”That’s good enough. Go home and rest for a few days, and you’ll be fully recovered.”

The middle-aged man’s previously lifeless face was now ruddy. His complexion had improved by leaps and bounds, and he only felt a slight tingling in his waist, which had been agonizingly painful before.

”Dad, are you feeling better?”

The man’s son had been in the closest position, watching his father’s face gradually regain its color, and his voice was filled with hope.

”I...”

The man tried to twist his body. ’It doesn’t hurt. I can move!’

”Here, help me sit up!” The man extended a hand, and his son immediately supported him, slowly helping his father sit up.

”I’m better, I’m really better!”

Both of their faces were filled with immense joy.

He had been unable to even turn over or move, and now he could sit up with support and feel no pain. For this to happen in just over ten minutes... this had to be something only a deity could do.

”Make sure to rest for the next few days and don’t overexert yourself. It will take a few more days to recover completely. Give your body an adjustment period.”

Tang Mo instructed him while sitting back down behind the desk and placing her hand on the next patient’s hand.

Within twenty minutes, both patients with large, localized infections were healed. Their vitality returned immediately, and both expressed their gratitude to Tang Mo with tears streaming down their faces.

If Tang Mo hadn’t desperately stopped them, they would have certainly knelt before her.

”Spiritual power can really heal and save people! It’s true.”

”It’s actually true... It’s actually true...”

”We’re saved! We’re finally saved!”

A bombshell seemed to have been dropped on the silent crowd. Loud cheers and discussions replaced the hushed whispers, and many even found tears streaming down their faces unknowingly.

This time, they had all seen it with their own eyes, and the ones being treated were people from among them.

It was all real! It wasn’t a trick!

”I’m going to carry my older brother here!”

”My dad can be saved too! And my uncle!”

...

After recovering from their shock, everyone scrambled to rush home, afraid that being a minute late would mean missing this once-in-a-lifetime chance to be saved.

”I am only treating critically ill patients. Minor injuries that can heal on their own will not be treated. The elderly over 60 will not be treated unless their injuries are from mutant beasts. For those who absolutely cannot be moved, do not try to carry them here. I can make a house call at the end.”

At some point, a megaphone had appeared in Tang Mo’s hand, and she was shouting to the crowd below.

The village had too many people; she couldn’t possibly see everyone if minor injuries and small ailments were included.

And if the elderly weren’t injured by mutant beasts, their conditions were part of the natural cycle of life, aging, sickness, and death.

This was the natural law of Life, and Tang Mo was unwilling and unable to defy it.

Soon, a long line formed in front of Tang Mo’s desk.

Although Tang Mo had said she would personally visit patients who couldn’t be moved, the families were clearly anxious and didn’t want to risk it. They brought their people to her anyway, carrying them on bamboo stretchers or just hauling them over.

Tang Mo gave a wry smile, understanding the families’ feelings. She rolled up her sleeves and got to work.

Thanks to her experience healing the entire Qinling Team at once, Tang Mo’s movements were much faster this time. In just one morning, she had healed all twenty-some patients.

”Even though the illness is gone, you still need to rest and recuperate.”

Tang Mo instructed them patiently, just like a real doctor.

The family members beside her expressed their endless gratitude as they led their now-healed relatives off the stage, then stood properly below.

Their eyes were all sparkling, like well-behaved elementary school students waiting for their teacher to speak.

”You’ve all seen it. Spiritual power can truly heal and save people. As long as you work hard to raise your attributes, you can live well with your families even in the apocalypse. I will give the spiritual power healing method to the Sect Leader and have him choose the three people in the village with the strongest spiritual power to learn it. From now on, the person with the strongest Spiritual Attribute can be chosen each month to learn, so that everyone has a chance to survive!”

Tang Mo spoke every word with great seriousness.

Guo Mingyi, listening from the side, was a bit stunned. ’This isn’t what we agreed on yesterday, is it? Originally, Tang Mo had planned not to teach it yet. She was going to wait until someone’s Spirit Attribute reached a certain level she had set, and then she would teach them personally. But now...’

Of course, what Tang Mo was proposing now was the best possible solution for Wuxi Village. Guo Mingyi was momentarily dazed, struck by a wave of immense joy.

He himself was a Spirit Attribute Superpower User, so he understood all too well what this secret method represented and just how precious it was.

This way, Wuxi Village... they would truly be saved.

Not only saved—Guo Mingyi had a premonition that because of the girl standing before him, Wuxi Village was about to welcome a new dawn.
