Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 186: Chapter 176: Uninvited Guest

As her situation became more relaxed, Tang Mo’s heart grew restless.

She was waiting for the right opportunity to reach the human tribe on the other side of the mountain and find out where Qin Ling was.

Soon enough, that opportunity presented itself.

The Xing Clan went to bed very early. Tang Mo wasn’t used to sharing a bed, so when she first arrived, she had used dry wooden planks to build herself one in Da Hua’s cave.

She was never one to make herself suffer, so she had placed a thick mattress on the simple wooden bed, topped with her own familiar bedding. It was incredibly comfortable.

Of course, Tang Mo had also tactfully given Da Hua a mattress.

This was a bribe to keep Da Hua from telling anyone about her Space ability.

She could have also given Da Hua a new set of better-fitting, prettier clothes, but she gave up on the idea, thinking that Da Hua would inevitably show them off outside.

After all, Da Mao and Ah Li never came to their daughter’s cave, making it relatively easy to do things inside without being discovered.

Every night around nine o’clock, Da Hua would fall asleep, and the entire mountain would become perfectly still and silent.

Tang Mo, of course, didn’t go to sleep at nine.

’Sleep? Are you kidding me! My ranking is about to drop out of the top one hundred. How could I possibly be in the mood to sleep!’

’I’d have to be completely carefree to do that.’

Although she didn’t want to use external aids to boost her strength just to climb the ranks, she wasn’t entirely indifferent to her standing either.

Especially after going home and seeing the looks of unspoken concern in her mother’s and Uncle Wen’s eyes, she knew she couldn’t be too nonchalant.

Sometimes, you just have to live in a way that satisfies the people you care about. There was no helping it.

But she didn’t know if it was because this mountain was particularly nurturing, but Tang Mo had recently noticed that the Spiritual Light Ball in her sea of consciousness seemed to be stirring restlessly.

She had originally thought the light ball was just an independent entity existing within her sea of consciousness, from which she could borrow power when needed.

But now, she had a bold idea.

’Perhaps the light ball’s purpose isn’t just to be borrowed from. Maybe it can merge with my body and become one.’

’If that’s really the case, my strength will see a terrifying increase.’

Tang Mo was incredibly hopeful about this possibility, so she had recently been dedicating even more time to her training, cutting her sleep down to the bare minimum.

Tang Mo knew full well that she might have some Talent in spiritual power, or perhaps she had encountered opportunities that ordinary people hadn’t.

But this world was too vast. There was always a higher heaven and a stronger person. She was by no means the most special one.

What’s more, that message her ID Watch had sent before...

It was all a constant reminder that she had to work hard, and then work harder, to gain enough strength to face all the unknowns that lay ahead.

By nine, the sky was completely dark. Fortunately, Tang Mo could enhance her vision, so moving through the darkness wasn’t a problem for her.

The Spiritual Energy was always richest at the summit, so Tang Mo had gotten used to training there. She would find a spot near the twenty-four-hour guards, but out of their sight, take out her sleeping bag, and sit down to train.

She couldn’t fully control the energy within the light ball yet, and it often caused a bit of a disturbance, which made training in Da Hua’s cave inconvenient.

This location was perfect.

The guards would occasionally sense a slight disturbance, but after glancing down the mountain and seeing nothing amiss, they could only scratch their heads in confusion.

’This just forces them to take their jobs more seriously!’

Tang Mo felt she was practically a qualified, unpaid supervisor.

But just as she began to sense the light ball in her sea of consciousness, a strange noise suddenly put her on high alert. She instantly stopped what she was doing and began observing her surroundings.

Tang Mo stealthily extended her spiritual power and saw that the few apes on guard duty were lying on the ground. Their steady breathing indicated they had only been temporarily knocked unconscious.

Only their leader remained conscious, swaying unsteadily on its feet.

From below the cliff, a human figure was slowly climbing up.

The ape leader, living up to its title as a chieftain, quickly sensed something. But by the time it charged at the figure, the person was already standing on the summit.

It was a human youth, who looked to be around twenty years old. He wore clothes stitched from Exotic Beast Skin, and his hair was braided in a style that resembled a tribal warrior.

’That must be one of the humans from the other side of the mountain,’ Tang Mo quickly concluded.

The ape leader quickly engaged the boy in a fight.

Perhaps because there was only one intruder, and a seemingly weak one at that, the ape didn’t rush to summon its companions, instead preparing to deal with him on its own.

However, the arrogant rarely meet a good end.

Although the ape’s superior constitution allowed it to resist the knockout drug, the effects on its body were still significant, greatly weakening its Combat Power.

Coupled with the boy’s nimble movements and apparent knowledge of the ape’s weaknesses in combat, every one of his strikes was deadly, and he slowly began to gain the upper hand.

Tang Mo didn’t step out to help; instead, she watched the fight intently.

On closer inspection, the fight was quite interesting. The youth seemed to have carefully studied every single one of the ape’s moves and techniques.

He definitely knew a great deal about the Xing Clan and had put in the effort to study them.

Moreover, this level of study was definitely not achieved overnight. After expending so much Heart Power, only a fool would believe he had just come up to play and enjoy the scenery.

As Tang Mo watched, she was also memorizing the boy’s movements, beginning to learn his fighting style.

No matter the situation, it was never a mistake to learn something new.

The battle lasted for about ten minutes before the ape, already dazed from the drug, was knocked to the ground. The youth delivered another blow with a club, knocking it out completely.

His methods were ruthless and decisive.

But knocking all the apes unconscious wasn’t enough. The youth then took out a dagger and bent down, preparing to deliver the finishing blows.

He intended to end the lives of these ape guards.

But just as the dagger was about to descend upon the ape’s carotid artery, a sudden burst of Strength jolted his wrist, sending the dagger flying.

”Who’s there?”

The boy instantly took a step back, warily scanning his surroundings.

’This shouldn’t be a type of attack the Xing Clan can use. There’s someone else here!’

”You’re so young. There’s no need to be so ruthless.”

Tang Mo walked out from behind a large tree not far away and slowly came to a stop in front of the boy.

’My external projection of spiritual power is getting more and more skillful. A precision strike.’
