Marvel: All My Incarnations Are S-Class Villainesses

Chapter 224: Chapter 224: But, At What Cost?

However, for Fury, or for Thor...

The only good news was that the sweeping speed of this beam was as clunky as turning an aircraft carrier around.

As long as he kept his distance, it couldn’t catch up with the agile Thor.

After sweeping across half a block, the light finally began to fade.

With her magic overextended, Lux’s face turned pale as she lowered her wand, panting, and the ”Final Spark” finally ceased.

Seeing this, Thor, who had been dodging frantically on the edge of death, finally let his tense nerves relax.

Standing amidst the charred ruins, he let out a long breath of turbid air.

But just as he let his guard down and prepared to swing Mjolnir for a counterattack—

Suddenly, the sound of snapping rebar came from directly above.

Immediately after, a massive shadow loomed over him, as if it were a physical weight.

Thor looked up in shock—the skyscraper behind him had been sliced clean in half by Lux’s Final Spark at some point.

As the light receded, the building lost its final support.

Hundreds of tons of massive concrete structure were plummeting straight toward Thor’s head with a desperate gravitational acceleration!

Thor looked up, staring blankly at the falling steel and concrete that crashed down like Mount Tai.

Lux, who was also within the shadow of the collapsing building, was startled for a moment before thinking to herself that this was bad.

She casually opened a portal shimmering with platinum sparks, dove through it without looking back, and made her escape.

”BOOM—!!!”

A thunderous roar shook the sky, and all of Manhattan felt as if it were experiencing an earthquake.

A skyscraper in the city center slammed squarely onto Thor.

For a moment, dust billowed across the streets, and rubble flew everywhere like buckshot, blotting out the sun.

The next second after Thor was buried by the building, a ring of golden sparks lit up in mid-air.

Lux stepped out of the portal and landed steadily beside Captain America Steve and the others.

As soon as she landed, she met the gazes of the Avengers trio, who were looking at her like she was a monster. Lux awkwardly scratched the back of her head and gave a sheepish smile, but in the eyes of Steve, a World War II veteran, this smile held a completely different meaning.

Captain America looked at the devastated neighborhood in the distance, unable to help but sigh deeply.

Although the destruction was a bit excessive, the tactical prowess displayed by the glowing girl before him was simply breathtaking.

The wolf feigns sleep to lure its prey.

Steve silently gave her a very high evaluation in his heart.

He thought the reason Lux’s Final Spark was so slow was to lower Thor’s guard, making him think he was safe as long as he kept his distance, thus causing him to overlook the true lethal threat above—the skyscraper sliced in half.

It’s just... the destruction caused...

Captain America and the others stared at the dust clouds drifting over several blocks, collectively speechless.

They wanted to praise their savior, but they didn’t know where to start.

However, they had no idea that this brilliant ”tactic”...

...wasn’t even part of Lux’s plan.

She simply hadn’t held back her power and hadn’t noticed that the beam had sliced through the building as well... and so cleanly, too.

This was a case of accidental brilliance.

Seeing the thick smoke obscuring her vision ahead, Lux formed hand seals and gave a casual wave—

[Winds of Watoomb]

A howling gale of magical wind swept out, dispersing the dust and revealing the current state of the neighborhood.

After seeing the scene clearly, Steve, Natasha, and Barton all froze in place. It wasn’t just the building that hit Thor; the entire complex of buildings for several blocks behind the skyscraper had been devastated by that single blast.

A bottomless trench was left in the ground, its edges vitrified by the high temperature.

Captain America and his team broke into a cold sweat.

Although they had successfully taken down the troublesome Thor and vaporized several Chitauri squads in the process, the cost...

Wasn’t it a bit too expensive?

Only at this moment did they truly understand the weight of Lux’s words regarding ”Forbidden Spells.”

Everyone stood there waiting silently for a few minutes.

There was no movement beneath the ruins; Thor didn’t crawl back out. Even with his Asgardian divine body, taking an entire skyscraper to the face while defenseless was likely enough to give him more than he could handle, and he was most likely incapacitated.

Confirming that this area was temporarily safe, Lux flicked her cloak and soared into the sky like a meteor, heading straight for the combat zone where Hulk and Annie were.

Meanwhile, at the other battlefield.

The rampaging Hulk, his fists moving like tireless pile drivers, was frantically pounding on the massive crystal.

Under the bombardment of his unreasonable monstrous strength, the cracks on the crystal’s surface became increasingly dense.

Seeing that this ”extra-large crystal tin” containing Annie was about to be smashed open by hand—

”Swoosh—!”

A sharp sound of breaking air rang out.

In mid-air, Lux swung her arm wide and fiercely hurled the heavy Axe of Angarruumus.

Sensing danger, Hulk immediately stopped and leaped backward with all his might to avoid the flying axe.

He turned his head, glaring at the visitor in the air with eyes that shimmered with an eerie, deep blue light.

In the air, Lux sized up the muscular green beast before her and curled her lip.

”What an unlikable big guy.”

Responding to her was Hulk’s roar, which felt like it would pierce her eardrums.

Without a word, the beast’s thick legs kicked a massive crater into the ground.

He was like a green meteorite flying upward, arms wide, lunging straight for Lux.

Just as it seemed Hulk would succeed, Lux didn’t move an inch.

Because a petite figure had already charged out from the side with a roar that detonated the air!

”BOOM—!!”

Flames soared into the sky as Reze executed a violent explosive roundhouse kick in mid-air.

This terrifying kinetic energy slammed squarely into Hulk’s waist.

It actually sent the massive Hulk flying dozens of meters away.

With a ”boom,” he smashed through a distant load-bearing wall and went silent amidst the rubble and dust.

Amidst the rolling airwaves.

Two petite figures, one purple and one gold, landed lightly to the left and right in front of the cracked crystal.

”Sorry, Sister Annie, I got delayed a bit on the way. I’m not too late, am I?”

Lux tilted her head and gave a playful wink toward the back.

As she spoke, she tucked her wand back into the ”inventory.”

Then, she clenched her right hand, and the heavy Axe of Angarruumus whistled back into her palm; she flicked her left hand outward, and a golden magic circle instantly expanded as the high-level Kamar-Taj spell—”Vishantis Sacred Sword”—solidified in her palm!

With a magical light sword in her left hand and a heavy battle axe in her right.

At this moment, Lux was brimming with fighting spirit; she didn’t look like a traditional mage at all.

She was the spitting image of a Demacian Valkyrie ready to lead the charge!

Beside her, dangerous sparks danced on Reze’s fingertips, her gaze playfully locked onto the ruins where Hulk had crashed.

”Daring to bully our Annie-chan... this Gamma Anno must really be tired of living...”

Looking at the two figures standing before her—not tall, but as unbreakable as city walls—Annie, who had been sealed inside the crystal and enduring that monstrous pressure alone, finally felt her nerves, which were on the verge of snapping, begin to relax bit by bit.

A long-lost, intense sense of security called ”comrades” enveloped her.

It was something she had never felt from those two idiot Titan teammates...

Within the transparent crystal, a rare warmth of relief flickered in the depths of those cold blue eyes.
