A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 314: Chapter 314: This Fiery Temper of Mine (Part 2)

”Miss Gable, don’t you worry. You’re guaranteed to win this time. I’ve already looked into it—that Seraphina Sterling has never learned to ride. I bet she can’t even get on a horse! How could she possibly compete with you? Just you wait for Wyatt Gallagher to be single again!” Aiden Faulkner had also walked out with Shannon Gable. Aiden was so attentive, it was as if she were the one about to compete, not Shannon!

”Even if Seraphina Sterling had learned before, I wouldn’t be worried! In all of Aethelgard, no one can beat me at riding!” Shannon Gable was already prepared. She didn’t need to choose a horse; she had two of her own at this stable and could take either one. A spirited black horse, paired with her red riding habit, made her look incredibly dashing!

Just from looking at Shannon Gable’s determined expression, Seraphina Sterling knew she was dead set on winning. ’To go to such lengths for a man... this young lady of the Gable Family is really giving it her all. To do everything you can to pursue someone you like—I don’t find that repulsive. After all, everyone has the right to like someone, and likewise, the right to pursue happiness.’

’Of course, by the same token, the target of one’s affection also has the right to refuse. To put it bluntly, this is just a chase. Shannon Gable has always been chasing after Wyatt Gallagher, but he has never stopped for her. There must be someone up ahead that Wyatt is chasing, and I’m just someone who was brought in to help. I just have to do my best. Honestly, I don’t have the right to decide anything.’

”Are you ready? Ten laps around this racetrack. The one with the shortest time wins!” Leo Warren, who was with Mr. Quinn, acted as the announcer. He looked at the girl who had once beaten him black and blue. ’She’s a great fighter, but that doesn’t mean she’s any good on a horse! A little slip of a girl like her... can she really ride?’

Seraphina Sterling held the reins in one hand, placed a foot in the stirrup, and vaulted up, landing stylishly on the horse’s back. She saw the doubt in Leo Warren’s eyes as clear as day. ’Am I being that obvious? Can even Leo Warren tell I’m just putting on a brave front? This is all Mr. Quinn’s fault. If he hadn’t come over, none of this would be happening!’

”Seraphina Sterling, remember our bet. You’d better be prepared to honor it! Wyatt Gallagher is mine! Only I deserve to be with him! You’re just a little pipsqueak, so why don’t you just get lost!”

Shannon Gable started with some pre-race intimidation. It wasn’t the first time she had done something like this, but this was the only time she wasn’t just saying it to pressure her opponent. She genuinely wanted to win.

”Don’t forget, Wyatt Gallagher likes me precisely because I’m young! Even if you beat me, trying to get Wyatt to like you is going to be a tough job. Technology may be advanced nowadays, but turning back the clock is still pretty much impossible!”

It was just trash talk, and that was her strong suit. Seraphina Sterling’s words were sharp, but inwardly she was panicking. ’I don’t know how to ride a horse. I really, really don’t! Even though Wyatt just used the time while we were choosing horses to give me a crash course on the key techniques and essential movements, that was all just theory. This is my first time putting it into practice for real!’

”Ready! Go!”

The moment the call was made, Shannon Gable, dressed in her red riding habit, shot forward on her black horse! Seraphina Sterling only felt a cold gust of wind rush past. The next thing she knew, the red figure was already far ahead, while she was still on her bay horse, inching forward slowly. She hadn’t even broken into a trot. It didn’t look like she was racing at all; it looked more like she was out for a leisurely stroll!

The crowd had been waiting for an exciting race. Two women fighting over one man—you don’t get to see a scene like that every day! Both came from prominent families—one, a miss from the Gable Family; the other, a miss from the Sterling Family. For two women to be competing in a sport as rough as horse racing, everyone had expected a fierce competition!
