A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Winter Camp Canceled

In previous years, only sophomores attended the winter camp. Freshmen weren’t skilled enough, and seniors were busy preparing for college entrance exams, making sophomores the most suitable candidates. This time, the supervising teacher from Tollan High was Dana Lowell, the homeroom teacher for the sophomore advanced class. The students attending were also almost all from the advanced class, and Summer was among them!

”Seraphina, look! Sanford First High School is so luxurious! Their cafeteria is nicer than our entire school building. And this field, this lawn, this rubber track! Oh my god, the people who go to school here must be so happy!” Summer had been sighing in amazement ever since she walked through the school gates, her voice filled with unconcealable envy!

Summer wasn’t the only one who felt this way. Any student from a town high school would inevitably be full of praise and envy upon seeing such a sight. Amidst the crowd, only Seraphina Sterling remained completely calm, unfazed by it all.

”Seraphina, come try it! This rubber track is so soft! It wouldn’t even hurt if you fell on it!” Summer deliberately stomped and jumped on it, her eyes seeming to smile. It was the pure, innocent smile of a girl her age.

Seraphina watched with great envy. Such a carefree, innocent nature was something she hadn’t possessed for a very long time!

”Hmph. Why are country bumpkins like these allowed at the winter camp? What were the school administrators thinking? Aren’t they worried these hicks will embarrass us?” a girl in a red winter dress and black thigh-high boots complained.

”Michelle’s right. Normally, we could just let the country bumpkins attend. But this winter camp is different. Not only are there several top domestic schools here, but there are also high school students from many other countries coming to learn about the long history of Apex. At such an important cultural exchange, these hicks will only drag down our standards!”

Crystal Marshall was Michelle Galloway’s loyal supporter. She would absolutely agree with whatever Michelle said.

”Marshal, what are you looking at? There’s nothing to see with those country bumpkins. What do you think we should do? The students from the other schools will be arriving soon, along with the international students. If they see these hicks, it won’t just be our school that loses face, but our whole country! You’re the student council president, you need to make a decision!”

Michelle Galloway was deeply dissatisfied about being with these high schoolers from the towns. Merely sharing the same space with them felt like an insult to her status as the young lady of the Galloway Family!

Michelle Galloway and Crystal Marshall had deliberately raised their voices, and every word they said was heard by the students from the town high schools on the field. Although everyone felt extremely uncomfortable, no one said a word. The previously noisy and chaotic scene instantly fell silent.

This winter camp was originally open to all high schools in the city. Each town high school didn’t send many people, only four or five students each. But because there were many such schools, the crowd seemed large. Although this kind of discrimination against town high schools happened at every winter camp, it was obvious that this time, they had gone too far!

The smile on Summer’s face had vanished the moment Michelle Galloway started mocking them as country bumpkins. For Summer, who was attending such an event for the first time, this situation was beyond anything she could have imagined. From the moment she heard their derisive voices, she began to wonder if her own recent words and actions had brought shame upon her school.

Summer subconsciously looked toward Seraphina Sterling. Faced with their mockery, she was at a complete loss, not knowing what to do.

At that moment, Marshal stepped forward. ”Fellow students, I am the student council president of Sanford First High School. First, on behalf of the entire school, I welcome you all. Due to the special nature of this year’s winter camp, your status is no longer suitable for participation. On behalf of Sanford First High School, I apologize to you all! As a token of our apology, a teacher will later take you on a tour of the city. All expenses will be covered by Sanford First High School!”

Seraphina Sterling frowned. ’If I can’t even participate in the winter camp, there’s no way I can get first place. And if I can’t win first for Tollan High, my plan to skip a grade will be ruined. This is not good news at all!’

”Hey, you’re just the student council president, not a teacher. Is this a decision you’re even allowed to make?”

”Yeah! We’re here for the winter camp, not a one-day tour of Sanford!”

”Don’t think you’re so great just because you have some stinking money! We’re not falling for that! Why do you all get to participate in the winter camp, but we can’t?”

...

The students who came to the winter camp were the best and brightest from their respective schools, all of them proud and ambitious. Marshal’s words had ignited their collective fury! In an instant, the athletic field was a scene of mass indignation.

”Why don’t you figure out your place! Marshal was already being generous! A bunch of country bumpkins like you wanting to join such a high-class winter camp? You’re dreaming!” Crystal Marshall’s sharp voice cut through everyone else’s!

A fight was about to break out, but at that moment, the supervising teachers from all the schools walked out of the administration building, successfully stopping the dispute.

Dana Lowell’s expression was grim. ”Students, this winter camp has been canceled for us. We’re heading back this afternoon!”

Seraphina’s worst fears had come true! If she couldn’t participate in the winter camp, wouldn’t her plan to skip a grade be ruined?!

’No! Absolutely not!’

”Teacher, we need a proper explanation! Not some high-and-mighty official excuse! We came here with great enthusiasm, and now you’re telling us to just leave like this. Sanford First High School owes us a reasonable explanation! To summon us and dismiss us at will—is that how a prestigious school operates? If that’s really the case, then Sanford First High School is nothing special after all!”

Seraphina’s soft voice rang out in the crowd, yet her words were so wildly arrogant and domineering that the other students on the field found them incredibly satisfying!
