I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 154: Chapter 109: The Black Bear Spirit Stole the Kasaya and the White Dragon Horse

But he had business to attend to. After entering the office in the prefab building, he clicked to purchase the special Little Black Bear.

A game prompt appeared:

[Congratulations! You have spent 1,000,000 to purchase a special Little Black Bear. The Little Black Bear has successfully materialized and has appeared in the warehouse. Please go and check!]

Once the materialization was complete, a set of related documents and certificates appeared on the desk in front of Zhang Lin: a quarantine certificate, a breeding license, adoption papers, and approval forms.

Crucially, the paperwork wasn’t recent, but dated several months back.

The approval document had even been issued by the provincial capital of Min Province.

The document also included a note explaining the reason for adoption: a citizen had discovered an injured little black bear in the woods, suspected of being left behind by poachers. The citizen reported it to the provincial Forestry Bureau, but by the time the bureau’s personnel arrived, the Little Black Bear was nowhere to be found.

It was later discovered that a kind-hearted person had found and treated the Little Black Bear. Since the Forestry Bureau determined the cub could no longer survive on its own in the wild, and the man in question had just obtained the operating license for a newly contracted 2,000-acre farm, the adoption was approved.

Caretaker: Li Yuan Farm.

When Zhang Lin first read the description, he simply assumed it was the system fabricating a backstory for the bear.

Bailong hadn’t been this much trouble. But he understood the difference in nature between an animal that was legal to raise and one that wasn’t.

But the story took a strange turn at the end.

A 2,000-acre farm... Li Yuan Farm!

’This damn system really pulls some crazy stunts!’

To put his mind at ease, he specifically used the number on the certificate to look up the file information on the official Min Province Forestry Bureau website.

As soon as he logged onto the bureau’s official site, he noticed it was in black and white, which was odd.

It turned out a diligent deputy director had passed away from cancer in the hospital three days prior, and the site was in memoriam.

That was none of his business, though. He immediately looked up the file by its number and was dumbfounded.

’I guess I was being naive.’ There really was a record of the document being issued. The photo on file was his father, and so was the signature.

This...

’But the document needed the signature of the handling official, a deputy director, no less. System, are you telling me you can just implant memories into people?’

Then he looked up the deputy director and was utterly flabbergasted. It was the very same one the official website was mourning.

Damn.

’System, you are really something else!’

After looking over the documents, Zhang Lin immediately put them away, locked them in a drawer, and headed straight for the warehouse.

The moment he entered the warehouse, a small figure pounced, hugging his leg and rubbing against it while letting out a cry.

Wasn’t it a fuzzy black cub, wearing a Kasaya?

The crucial detail was the pair of rollerblades on its feet. As it clung to Zhang Lin’s leg with the blades still standing on the ground, the addition of the Kasaya made for a rather comical sight.

[Special Little Black Bear: Quality 1]

[This is a special Little Black Bear. It has peculiar hobbies: it likes to wear a Kasaya, stand upright on rollerblades, and is very clingy to its owner. Special Attributes: Naive +1, Sentience +1, Docile +1, Dexterity +1!]

[The Little Black Bear does not have a name. Please name it: ]

As Zhang Lin touched the Little Black Bear, he saw its information.

It was quite surprising.

This Little Black Bear actually had four attributes.

The Naive +1 was self-explanatory. He could tell just by looking at it hugging his thigh, raising a paw to cry out at him with a goofy grin on its face.

’Clingy to its owner... that means the system has already set me as its master.’

Dexterity +1 also went without saying. If it weren’t dexterous, could it rollerblade?

After all, plenty of people try to learn and fail, taking nasty falls in the process.

Sentience +1 was also obvious. Just like Bailong, it had this attribute, which meant it should be very intelligent. Bailong could often understand what he was saying.

The Docile +1 attribute, however, reminded him of a previous system prompt.

When he’d reached that milestone, the system had said his farm lacked ”sentient” things. ’Was it trying to give me a hint?’

Agriculture, in its broadest sense, refers to five industries: cultivation, forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries, and supplementary businesses. Animal husbandry, which includes raising animals, was part of that.

So, for the farm’s development, besides researching crops and developing agritourism projects, he could also diversify. Why not look into other things?

’That makes sense.’ Many farms and agritourism businesses featured animal attractions. The internet was full of animal influencers.

’A little black bear that wears a Kasaya and knows how to rollerblade... in this day and age, how could it not become an internet sensation?’

’And Bailong, he could hype him up too, couldn’t he?’

’That was a definite possibility. Anyway, he had an operations team now. He could just leave it for Lin Muxue to handle.’

With that in mind, he decided to take the Little Black Bear to the office center first and then notify Senior Sister Lin.

But, looking at the system prompt, he needed to give it a name first.

Being terrible with names, he looked at its fuzzy black fur and said, ”From now on, you’ll be called Xiaohai.”

[Congratulations! Naming successful. The farm welcomes a new member: Xiaohai!]

As if in response to the system prompt, the Little Black Bear cried out to him twice.

「A moment later.」

Zhang Lin led the Little Black Bear out of the warehouse. The Little Black Bear followed him, its legs gliding smoothly on the rollerblades.

It looked just like he was leading a small child by the hand.

Zhang Lin was filled with emotion. Everyone says black bears like to climb trees and swim, but this was the first time he’d ever seen one that liked to rollerblade.

Once outside, he led the Little Black Bear toward his scooter. Just then, Bailong let out a whinny and trotted over, stopping right in front of him and staring at him and the cub.

Zhang Lin didn’t understand, so he reached out and patted Bailong’s head.

Whenever the horse acted like this before, that simple gesture had always been enough to satisfy it.

This time, however, Bailong was clearly not satisfied. It kept whinnying at him.

Just as Zhang Lin was wondering what was wrong with the horse, he saw Bailong take its own reins in its mouth and offer them to him.

”Whoa, whoa. Are you getting jealous?” Zhang Lin understood in an instant.

Bailong had seen him leading the Little Black Bear and wanted to be led, too.

’A horse understands jealousy?’

Zhang Lin took the reins, and just as he expected, Bailong nuzzled its head against him, clearly satisfied.

’He was just now discovering that these animals were like children.’

’Sentience +1 is no joke.’

Just then, the Little Black Bear let go of Zhang Lin’s leg. It seemed to have taken an interest in the big white fellow before it, staring at Bailong with curiosity.

Seemingly embarrassed by the stare, Bailong snorted at the cub.

The black bear then suddenly started staring at the reins. It cried out to Zhang Lin and held out its paw.

Zhang Lin froze. ’What does it want?’

He tentatively offered the reins, and you wouldn’t believe it—the Little Black Bear actually took them.

Zhang Lin subconsciously glanced at Bailong and was even more astonished to see that the horse didn’t resist at all.

It was unbelievable. A horse and a bear... theoretically, a horse should be startled by a bear.

But these were system products, and they both had Sentience +1. The abnormal seemed to be the new normal.

”You two, follow me!” Zhang Lin called out to the two animals, then started walking.

He wasn’t sure if they would understand, but when he reached his scooter, he was amazed to find the Little Black Bear leading Bailong, following right behind him.

They were freakishly smart.

He started the scooter and headed out of the core area. The Little Black Bear actually sped up on its rollerblades to chase after him, crying out as it went.

Bailong also picked up its pace, following behind them.

”Not bad at all!” Zhang Lin exclaimed in pleasant surprise.

Intelligent animals were always more delightful. Because of this, he deliberately slowed the scooter down. After all, no matter how good the Little Black Bear was on rollerblades, it couldn’t keep up with two large wheels.

They passed through the partition wall and soon entered the other areas of the farm, heading straight for the office center. The road here was paved, so he wasn’t worried about the Little Black Bear’s rollerblades getting stuck.

The flower wall at the office center had already become a popular photo spot on the farm, with tourists constantly ”checking in” and taking pictures there.

Yuan Bingbing was standing under the flower wall, striking a graceful pose for her best friend to take a picture, when her eyes suddenly went wide. She pointed behind her friend. She had just seen a black bear in a Kasaya, on rollerblades, leading a white horse as it went past.

As for the person riding the scooter, she completely ignored them.

”What’s wrong?” Lin Lele asked, confused by her friend’s sudden reaction.

Yuan Bingbing couldn’t help but gasp, ”The Black Bear Spirit stole the Tang Monk’s Kasaya, and he stole the White Dragon Horse, too!”

??? Lin Lele.
