I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 151: Chapter 108: The Ways of the World! A Black Bear Spirit?

Zhao Han asked with a hint of anticipation.

The Night Market Town was a project he’d come up with only after tearing his hair out, and he had already drafted the plan.

In truth, he’d always felt that with so many visitors flocking to Li Yuan Farm, You City hadn’t yet fully capitalized on the benefits.

This would become especially apparent as Li Yuan Farm continued to grow and attract even more tourists.

The problem was that You City was a good twenty- to thirty-minute drive from Li Yuan Farm. On top of that, tourists were completely unfamiliar with the city itself. So, even if they developed a project within You City, there was no guarantee all the visitors would be able to find it.

What’s more, Li Yuan Farm now had its own campsite. After acquiring the one from Kailin Investment, they now had two.

Tourists staying at these campsites weren’t likely to make a special trip back to You City late at night just for shopping and entertainment.

For instance, he had initially wanted to create a food street in You City, but he’d scrapped the idea for this very reason.

This new Night Market Town, however, would solve that problem perfectly.

He was confident that the Night Market Town would one day become one of You City’s economic hubs, because he had faith in Boss Zhang.

Look at how little time Li Yuan Farm had been in development, yet it had already achieved so much.

Anyone else in his place would have been absolutely incapable of this.

As the director of the You City Tourism Bureau, he was keenly aware of this fact. You City had a total of 25 tourist attractions, and he’d lost count of how many different people had been put in charge of them.

After five full years of promotional campaigns, the entire city of You City only received about 20,000 visitors a day.

In contrast, how long had Li Yuan Farm been open? And how many visitors did it receive daily?

No one understood the disparity better than he did.

To put it simply, even if it were the same Li Yuan Farm, without Boss Zhang, he felt the farm would quickly become just like You City’s other attractions—fading into mediocrity.

Fortunately, the county leadership had basically reached a consensus to fully support Li Yuan Farm from now on.

’Give Boss Zhang a few years,’ he thought, ’and he could surely turn Li Yuan Farm into a massive, all-in-one tourist destination, right?’

’How many visitors would that bring in?’

Of course, the primary prerequisite for building this Night Market Town was getting Boss Zhang’s cooperation. After all, the town’s success would depend entirely on the tourist boom he had created.

Seeing Zhao Han’s expectant gaze, Zhang Lin thought for a moment before replying, ”Director Zhao, I support the Night Market Town project and will fully cooperate. As for a joint development venture, my farm has limited funds, so I won’t be participating. When the time comes, just have the county set aside some residential units for me to lease. Our farm is in need of quite a bit of employee housing.”

By giving up on the joint development of this project, he was also giving up a substantial amount of profit.

Limited funds were one issue. After all, he had just paid Kailin Investment 20 million and still owed them another 20 million, leaving him with just over 2 million in his account.

But that wasn’t the main reason.

The main reason was that he had no intention of hogging all the profits, nor did he feel the need to participate in every single project and make all the money himself.

If a person insisted on taking on every project and hoarding all the profits, they would end up a lone wolf, attracting nothing but envy and resentment.

But if you could let others get rich while you were getting rich, you would gain a great many allies.

Take the Night Market Town project proposed by Zhao Han, for example.

The county wanted to build a town. It wouldn’t be a small town, and the project would be massive. How many people, how many vested interests within the county, would get involved?

A great many, that was certain.

He didn’t want to fight for a piece of that pie.

Besides, if the project succeeded without his direct involvement, the intangible benefits would be enormous. At the very least, all the vested interests involved in the town project would never want to see him fail. In fact, they would all prop him up, because the town’s entire existence depended on the tourist traffic from his farm.

These same interests would even want his farm to do better and attract more visitors.

This would, in effect, form an unbreakable shield around him.

Zhao Han hadn’t expected Zhang Lin to offer his support while simultaneously turning down the partnership. The potential profits from this project were, after all, absolutely massive.

He had only just drafted the proposal and submitted it to the Liu County government, and already people were starting to use their connections with both him and Liu County to inquire about it.

”President Zhang, won’t you reconsider? Your involvement would be a great benefit to the project,” Zhao Han pressed. Regardless of how many other interests eventually got involved, he firmly believed that having Boss Zhang on board would make the project run much more smoothly.

”Director Zhao, a person’s energy is finite,” Zhang Lin said, shaking his head. ”I should focus all my efforts on the farm. If I spread myself too thin, I won’t have enough energy left for it. The farm can only attract more visitors if it’s well-developed, don’t you think?”

Hearing this, Zhao Han didn’t press the matter. He smiled and said, ”In that case, I’ll report this to the county leadership exactly as you’ve said. But rest assured, President Zhang, First Construction will be responsible for the roadwork. I guarantee they’ll have the road connecting the two sites finished within three days. We’ll also arrange for a public bus route to operate between them.”

”Then I’ll be counting on you, Director Zhao.”

This would save him a lot of trouble as well.

He also had no doubt that Zhao Han could deliver on his promise to have the connecting road built in three days.

After all, this was First Construction, You City’s official government-owned construction company.

The nation’s official infrastructure capabilities were not to be underestimated.

Just look at the famous Fire God Hospital. An 82-acre site was fully built and operational in just ten days. And the crucial part was, that hastily constructed hospital ran for six straight months without a single issue—a record that even hospitals meticulously built over several years couldn’t match.
