After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Maya Warner shook her head. ”No.”

At the time, she had also thought of ”The Celestial’s Prayer Stone,” but recalling the old elder’s words, she kept it to herself.

The old elder had said that the matter of the Prayer Stone could only be told to the Hero who saved the Bishop Clan.

”If it wasn’t Maya, then who could it be?”

Greg Unger trusted his sister, Maya.

Maya was naive, but she wasn’t a fool.

”It might have been those people.”

Trevor suddenly recalled something.

In the past two months, their people had rescued several unconscious individuals while out searching for supplies.

Seeing how badly they were injured, they brought them back to the clan to treat their wounds.

After their injuries healed and they had rested for a while, those people left.

If word about the Bishop Clan had gotten out, Trevor could only imagine it was because of them.

”They didn’t know much. Could it really have been them?”

Shawn mused.

”We need to speed things up,” Adrian Shaw said after hearing this.

Fortunately, not just anyone could barge into the Bishop Clan’s territory. Regardless of whether this was true or not, they had to pick up the pace and get there as soon as possible.

Night fell quickly.

Although there was no need to worry about a zombie attack, Adrian Shaw still arranged for several people to stand watch.

Oceane Sutton also made her move. It seemed a deliberate arrangement, as the guards on duty formed a ring right around the three vehicles.

Every one of them held a gun, looking as if they could attack at any moment.

Inside a second-floor window, Aiden Gordon chuckled smugly. ”Captain Sutton really knows what she’s doing. In a bit, we can have a few ’accidental discharges’ to keep them on edge like startled birds.”

”We’ll wear them down like this for two days. I refuse to believe they’ll have any strength left to resist.”

”Of course. If it weren’t for the supplies and Walter, I would’ve had them taken care of long ago,” Oceane Sutton sneered.

However, no sooner had the words left her mouth than a series of gasps came from outside.

Oceane Sutton rushed to the window, only to see a high wall that had appeared out of nowhere.

The wall encircled her people, and even from the second-story window, she couldn’t see what was happening inside.

Aiden Gordon’s mouth hung open. The wall’s appearance felt like a dream. This was...

”An Earth Element Superpower?!”

”It’s them...”

Only then did Oceane Sutton sense that something was very wrong.

’Do they really have such a powerful Earth Element Superpower User among them?’

’Or rather, can the Earth Element Superpower really be this strong?’

Inside the temporary high wall, Nina Jacobs retracted her hand and said to the others,

”Everyone can rest easy now.”

The feeling of being watched by so many people wasn’t pleasant. Although this wall was temporary, at least bullets couldn’t get through it.

”Finally, we don’t have guns pointed at us anymore,” Adrian Shaw sighed in relief.

If it weren’t for the need to stop for the night and for Wayne Warner, who was in the middle of leveling up, he believed Nina Jacobs would have just torn this place down.

”Haha, awesome!”

Shirley Lucas had even prepared folding beds for everyone.

Realizing they didn’t even have to worry about zombies tonight, Beckett Abbott and the others lay down contentedly within the open-air enclosure, ready to rest.

It had to be said, they hadn’t suffered one bit on this journey.

”I can’t wait to see how strong Wayne will be when he wakes up.”

Leo Hale stood guard at Wayne Warner’s door.

The thing he was most looking forward to right now was Wayne Warner’s successful level-up.

As for the situation here, he wasn’t worried in the slightest.

”Don’t be anxious. The longer the level-up takes, the more beneficial it is for him.”

After saying this, Nina Jacobs climbed into the small bunk bed at the top of the RV.

After reporting that she was safe to Vera Coleman via the Unlimited Communicator, she went back to listening in on Oceane Sutton’s group.

”...I didn’t believe Aiden Gordon before when he said they’d have a large batch of supplies, but now I do. I underestimated them,” Oceane Sutton said.

Aiden Gordon seemed to have left. The person speaking with Oceane Sutton now was Edric Holden.

”That guy Aiden is pretty smart. Since those people said last time that they were going to a base to seek help, it must have been for supplies.”

Edric Holden continued with a laugh, ”It’s called casting a long line to catch a big fish.”

”I just wonder how many supplies the base gave them.”

Oceane Sutton mused, her voice full of anticipation.

”Once we finish this job and have enough supplies, you promised you’d take me away from all this. You haven’t forgotten, have you?”

Oceane Sutton’s words made Nina Jacobs narrow her eyes.

’Finish this job and run away? So all that talk about building a base was just a front?’

’This Oceane Sutton never had any intention of looking after the people here.’

”How could I forget? I keep my promises. But before that, I still need to make a trip to Tamberly.”

’Tamberly?’

’What is Edric Holden going there for?’

Nina Jacobs took out the piece of paper from her storage compartment. This was the one she had gotten from Icarus Golding.

The name ”Tamberly” was indeed written on it.

It was also the place where those people were supposed to pick up supplies.

Icarus Golding had told Vance and his men to go to Tamberly and find someone named Trey Windslow.

’Could it be...?’

Oceane Sutton sounded a little unhappy. ”You’re always so secretive, and you won’t tell me what you’re doing there. What’s so great about some broken-down backwater?”

”It’s for our future, of course. This is something the organization requires me to do. Don’t you want to go to the island?”

”Once I complete this mission, we might be able to go,” Edric Holden replied.

’The island...’

’Tranquilor?’

’It seems this Edric Holden really is a member of the Aegis Conclave.’

’I just don’t know what his relationship is with the ”Trey Windslow” on that piece of paper.’

Tamberly and Veridia were separated by another county.

Nina Jacobs had originally planned to pass through and try her luck, but she hadn’t expected to find a clue here.

”Really? But then again, I’ve never believed a place like that exists.”

”If we’re going to run away together, I’d rather take you back to my hometown. The supplies we’ve gathered these past few months are enough for us to live without a care in the world for the rest of our lives,” Oceane Sutton said.

”Whatever you want. I’ll go wherever you say. My dear wife is the most amazing, after all.”

Edric Holden pulled Oceane Sutton into an embrace and kissed her. Just as Nina Jacobs was about to turn off her Five Senses Enhancement, she heard Edric Holden speak again:

”Once I find that stone for you, you’ll become even more powerful.”

”Who exactly did you hear about that stone from?” Oceane Sutton asked.

”A few passersby. But they’re dead now.”

Edric Holden’s hands started to wander. Oceane Sutton let out a soft cry, her eyes growing hazy.

”Don’t worry... I have a way...”

The sound of panting grew more urgent. Nina Jacobs clicked her tongue in annoyance and turned off her Five Senses Enhancement.

’Edric Holden heard about it from passersby?’

’Perhaps it was those people Trevor mentioned.’

But since he was a member of the Aegis Conclave, she worried about just how many people knew about this now.

Early the next morning, Nina Jacobs dispelled the wall.

Watching the group inside the walls stretching lazily and eating a hearty breakfast, the men under Oceane Sutton’s command nearly had a meltdown.

They had stood guard here all night, yet their breakfast was just a single bowl of thin porridge.

Meanwhile, Trevor’s people even had steamed buns, fried dough sticks, soy milk, and milk-filled pastries...

”Where are Greg and the others?” Nina Jacobs asked as she got out of the vehicle, noticing a few people were missing.

”Maya said she had something to discuss with Elara Thorne. They’ll be back soon,” Adrian Shaw replied.

Aiden Gordon noticed Nina Jacobs as well. He walked over with some of his men and said with a smile,

”You must be the Earth Element Superpower User, right? Our captain wants to have a chat with you.”

”A chat? Tell her to get her ass out here and see me,” Nina Jacobs said.
