Chapter 252: Chapter 252: One’s Own Pace

After hearing what Ian Chandler had to say, Nina Jacobs understood a few things.

The incident with the activity camp had caught the base’s attention, mostly because the two guards who fainted had spilled everything they knew.

Apparently, besides being a place of pleasure, the activity camp was also secretly gathering detailed information on the base’s Superpower User teams.

It was also an intelligence hub.

”Someone named Eliana Golding was dumped at the base entrance—we don’t know by who.

I heard she’s the one in charge of the activity camp.

But she only admitted to borrowing Hugo Crawford’s men.

When asked about her superiors, she claimed to know nothing.”

Ian Chandler figured it didn’t matter if that Ms. Golding refused to talk.

After all, Sherry Renner had plenty of Talisman Paper.

”Gathering intelligence on the base’s Superpower User teams... what for?”

Nina Jacobs hadn’t expected the activity camp to have this other side to it.

The base kept tabs on the Superpower User teams for better management.

So what was the person behind the activity camp after?

Ian Chandler shook his head. ”No idea. But it can’t be for anything good.”

Fortunately, the activity camp had already been completely wiped out.

The base had now issued a new rule: no one was allowed to establish unauthorized groups outside the base. Any found would be immediately shut down.

The sound of a door closing came from outside.

When Sherry Renner returned and saw Nina Jacobs and Ian Chandler were both there, she couldn’t wait to ask,

”I heard you did something big at the base entrance today. A lot of people in the base now know the name ’Stella’.”

After she got the full story, Sherry Renner couldn’t help but be impressed.

’Nina Jacobs played her cards perfectly.’

’Using someone else’s supplies to win people over.’

No wonder so many people looked like they were gloating whenever Hugo Crawford’s name came up.

”It’s strange, I thought that activity camp belonged to Hugo Crawford alone,” Sherry Renner said.

She had a feeling that someone was secretly plotting something.

But that person was elusive and never showed their face.

”I already used a Talisman Paper on Ms. Golding, but she really doesn’t know anything.

However, she did confess to brutally murdering a lot of people. Even York was furious when he heard.”

Sherry Renner thought the base should thank those ”mysterious people.”

They were the ones who wiped out the activity camp.

Even if those mysterious people seemed to be after Ms. Golding’s supplies, they still did everyone a great service by getting rid of a menace.

”Yeah, they definitely did a good thing,” Nina Jacobs said with a smile.

After the activity camp was taken down, the system had also rewarded her with over two hundred bottles of Healing Potions.

’How could that not be a good thing?’

”Let’s not talk about this for now. Someone might come to question you in the next couple of days, regarding the Nerissa Sutton matter.”

Sherry Renner told her not to worry.

The questioning from the Enforcement Bureau should just be routine, a formality.

”No problem. I’ll cooperate fully.”

Nina Jacobs said she didn’t mind. By then, Leo Hale and Vera Coleman had already cleared out the basement.

Now, Ian Chandler needed to move all the supplies they had collected at the base entrance into the basement.

Vera Coleman had cleaned the family’s basement until it was spotless.

Down the stairs, the first thing you saw were several rows of shelves.

Nina Jacobs had previously asked Yvonne Willow to put these shelves in. They were mainly used to store the family’s daily necessities.

One row was a dedicated shelf for Sabrina Hale and Leontine Hale, filled with baby supplies and formula.

Farther in were several rooms specially for hoarding supplies.

The basement was cool and dark, making it perfect for storing supplies.

Ian Chandler quickly filled one of the empty rooms.

He took the supplies out of his spatial storage while Wayne Warner arranged them.

Seeing the room filled to the brim with supplies, Leo Hale felt absolutely ecstatic.

’All that hard work really wasn’t for nothing,’ he thought. ’As long as you’re willing to go out there and tough it out, you’re bound to get something back.’

Ian Chandler had also agreed to stay for dinner and was even planning to spend the night.

After all, he had his own room here.

At dinner, the family was surprised to find a splash of green among the dishes.

”They’re green onions that Ian Chandler sprouted.

I thought this would make the food look a bit nicer.”

Walsh explained, a little embarrassed.

Without sunlight and soil, vegetables sprouted by a Wood Element Ability User would lose eighty percent of their flavor; some were even completely tasteless.

But even as a garnish, they made his dishes look much more appetizing.

”They look great! I never thought a Wood Element Superpower could be used like this.”

Daniel Hale boomed with a hearty laugh.

”I only have a few seeds on me. I’ll try some others later and bring them to Walsh.”

Ian Chandler was also discovering that Walsh was practically a jack-of-all-trades.

He not only prepared food for Treasure, but there was also more than enough for Wayne Warner and his huge appetite.

”Great, I’ll be waiting. No matter what you sprout, I can make a dish out of it.”

Walsh thought it was about time he got to know some Wood Element Ability Users.

’Even if they don’t taste good, at least they’ll look nice.’

Nina Jacobs ate until she was mostly full, then went next door.

This time, she took out four Mystic Ice Cores, intending for Pascal Paige, Wendy Marshall, Jessica Vance, and Yvonne Willow to absorb them.

All four had been with her since they left City J.

And with Jessica Vance’s Wind Element Superpower improving daily, Nina figured she might as well give them all a boost.

Unexpectedly, however, both Wendy Marshall and Yvonne Willow refused.

”This must be really valuable, right? As a Space Superpower User, I don’t really need it,” Yvonne Willow said, very self-aware, believing it was better to give it to someone who needed it more.

After all, she mostly focused on practicing her escape and evasion skills and rarely participated in killing zombies.

Wendy Marshall, however, had other ideas. ”Instead of the Ice Element, I’d rather focus on improving my Water Element Superpower.”

”You can still use your Water Element abilities after you absorb it,” Nina Jacobs explained.

Wendy Marshall still shook her head. ”I feel the same way as Yvonne. The team needs at least a couple of people in support roles.

Things like this should be prioritized for those who need them most. When they become common someday, it won’t be too late for us to absorb one.”

As a Water Element Superpower User, she was responsible for the team’s daily water supply, and she believed her Water Element abilities had more room for development.

Nina Jacobs didn’t push it. She knew they each had their own ideas.

Following their own pace was what mattered most.

Pascal Paige and Jessica Vance also knew how incredibly rare the Mystic Ice Cores were. Neither had expected Nina Jacobs to offer them up for free.

However, after Nina Jacobs explained the benefits, they decided to absorb them.

”Thank you, Nina. You’ve brought me one step closer to my dream of becoming an Advanced Healer.”

After Pascal Paige finished absorbing it, she truly felt its miraculous effects.

The Superpower she had exhausted at the base hospital during the day was instantly replenished.

She even felt like she could go back and work the night shift.

”I hope you become an Advanced Healer soon,” Nina Jacobs said with a smile.

Jessica Vance seemed to take a little longer to absorb it.

When she opened her eyes, Nina Jacobs was waiting for her in the yard.

”How do you feel?” Nina asked.

”Really good. And I feel like...”

Jessica Vance stared at the ground and lifted her foot. Then, to her own astonishment and that of everyone else in the yard, she found she was hovering in mid-air!
