After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Chapter 271: Chapter 271: Not as Big as a Cowshed

Holden Shaw had also heard about the Superpower User Alliance around the base these past few days.

Including the fact that Wayne Warner had once been taken away by people from the Superpower User Alliance.

He quickly caught up to Nina Jacobs, saying with some concern, ”That guy, Tyson Hughes, is really strong.”

”Yeah, I know.”

Nina had heard about it from Chase Gallagher before.

Ever since Tyson Hughes entered City D Base, he had been going out alone every day to kill zombies.

His strength must have improved a lot since then.

”Are we training today?

Maybe we could do some targeted training?”

Holden Shaw hesitated, wanting to say more but stopping himself.

”Afraid I’ll lose?”

Nina turned to look at him, a smile playing on her lips.

”No, that’s not it. Our captain will definitely not lose,

but he’s a Dual Element Superpower User...”

Looking at Nina like this, Holden Shaw’s face flushed red.

Tyson Hughes possessed a Dual Element Superpower of Thunder and Speed, but Nina only had the Fire Element...

He was genuinely worried for her.

”Who says he’s the only one with a Dual Element Superpower?”

Nina left him with just that one sentence.

Leaving Holden Shaw standing there, stunned.

’What did Nina just mean?’

’Could it be what I was thinking?!’

...

Stella’s bye in the tournament gave everyone another welcome day off.

But with the finals up next, no one dared to relax.

Business at the small shop was also surprisingly good.

Until a woman carrying a child appeared inside.

”Welcome. What would you like to buy?”

Claire Warner looked at Lana before her.

In her arms was the little girl from yesterday, Eve.

”Here... can you really trade Crystal Cores for supplies?”

Besides Greg Unger, Rohan Calloway, who was with them yesterday, had also come with Lana.

The group had driven over in a beat-up sedan and had even paid a guide fee just to find this so-called small shop.

But when they saw that it was just a sheet-metal shack run by a single woman, they couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

’It’s not even as big as the cattle shed in our clan...’

”Yes, you can. Just tell me what you want.”

Claire Warner guessed that Lana’s group wanted to buy a lot of supplies, but they were also being very wary.

”Let’s start with some flour. Grains and other cereals would be best.”

Lana thought for a moment, then took out a small bag of Crystal Cores.

Grains were the easiest to store and the most suitable for their clan.

Claire Warner nodded. After counting the Crystal Cores, she waved her hand and produced two large bags of flour, along with a small bag of soybeans and brown rice.

When the group saw these supplies, they couldn’t look away.

Heaven knows how long it had been since they had seen actual food grains!

”We’ll take some more.”

Lana swallowed hard, then made several more purchases in the same manner.

Claire Warner’s attitude remained unchanged.

The group exchanged glances and even started discussing in the Bishop Clan’s language off to the side.

They kept glancing at Claire Warner as they talked.

But Claire didn’t rush them, simply waiting patiently.

Finally, Lana walked over and asked, ”We heard this place isn’t open every day?”

Claire Warner nodded. ”That’s right. I probably won’t be back until the afternoon five days from now.”

’In five days, the Superpower User tournament should be over.’

The afternoon five days from now...

Rohan Calloway lowered his voice and leaned in to ask:

”If we buy a large amount of supplies, will there be any security issues on your end?”

Supplies were so precious; they were worried someone might try to fight them for it.

After all, their hundred warriors had all been sacrificed, leaving less than ten of them now.

If they wanted to keep the supplies safe, their only option was secrecy.

”Don’t worry. No matter what we say in here, no one outside can hear.”

Claire Warner pointed to a silk banner on the wall.

Chester Pearson had brought it over early this morning.

The banner had the two words ”Honest Merchant” written on it, with the signature of the City D Base rescue team.

Although she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, she had let Chester hang it up anyway.

”It’s from the base rescue team?”

Greg Unger had only just noticed the signature at the bottom.

’If even the rescue team buys supplies here...’

Lana nodded. She waved her hand and brought out several baskets of Crystal Cores in succession.

The Crystal Cores had all been cleaned and were packed in bamboo baskets. A quick glance revealed many Beast Cores mixed in.

There were more than a dozen such baskets.

The group stared nervously at Claire Warner.

’Does she really have that many supplies?’

Lana was also prepared; if Claire refused, she would immediately take back the Crystal Cores.

Claire Warner raised an eyebrow, stood up, and said, ”Please put those away for now. Let’s find another place to trade.”

A dozen or so baskets of Crystal Cores wasn’t a huge amount.

But she believed Lana and her group had far more than just this.

Staying in the sheet-metal shack for too long would indeed arouse the suspicion of those outside.

Lana and the others agreed to trade somewhere else.

They walked out of the shack like any other customers and got into their car, but they didn’t leave right away.

Only after Claire Warner had finished trading with everyone waiting in line outside did she pack up the shack, get in her car, and signal for them to follow.

After countless turns, just as Greg Unger was starting to think they were being led into a trap, Claire Warner finally stopped in front of an abandoned warehouse.

This was the place Caleb Carter and Fern Spencer had found last time.

The surrounding area was open, so there was no need to worry about ambushes.

And there were few zombies.

After watching Claire get out of the car and deftly kill a few zombies, the others followed her in.

Inside a vast warehouse, Claire Warner had already started taking out supplies.

Rohan Calloway walked in from outside.

He had already scouted the entire area; there was indeed no one else around.

”You’re not from City D, are you?”

Claire Warner asked deliberately.

”You have sharp eyes, Warner. We are indeed not from here.”

Lana thought for a moment before replying.

When it came to supplies, they didn’t want to reveal any information about their clan.

And Claire Warner didn’t press, merely saying, ”

No matter where you’re from, you should know my rules.”

Her rule was mutual secrecy.

This suited the group’s intentions perfectly.

A moment later, seeing Claire Warner really produce so many supplies, their faces lit up with joy.

’So what Nina Jacobs said yesterday was true.’

’You really can trade for supplies at this small shop!’

’If that’s the case, maybe we can bring up that matter with the base!’

”Warner, can we trade for some more?”

Lana had figured it out. Since Claire Warner had so many supplies, logically, she should be the one worried about security, not them.

”Of course you can.”

Claire Warner seemed to trust them. She only counted one basket of Crystal Cores, sweeping the other baskets into her space.

Seeing this, Lana did indeed take out dozens more baskets of Crystal Cores...

After the massive transaction, looking at the warehouse piled high with supplies, Greg Unger, Rohan Calloway, and the others wore expressions of shock.

They had never seen so many supplies before.

This was enough for their clan to live on for quite some time.

Claire Warner saw Lana only collect a symbolic portion of the supplies, but she didn’t ask any questions.

”I’ll wait for you outside. You can continue taking stock.”

She could guess why they were reluctant to do it in front of her.

When they introduced themselves the night before last, the group had hidden Eve’s Superpower. But before saving them, Claire had already used her Five Senses Enhancement to learn that Eve was a Space Superpower User.

To the outside world, Lana was the Space Superpower User.

But in reality, the supplies were all with the inconspicuous little girl, Eve.

This was likely a measure to protect the supplies, and Claire didn’t intend to expose them.
