72: Section 72But this time.

Even he himself.

Only learned of Pinduoduo’s activity while watching the Spring Festival Gala live broadcast.

Before that.

He had thought Pinduoduo’s sponsorship advertisement for the Spring Festival Gala was like their Taobao advertisement, just a simple slogan and a host’s verbal promotion.

But he never expected.

Pinduoduo would pull such a stunt.

At the same time.

The Taobao Manager on the other end of the phone also noticed Old Ma’s silence and spoke up.

”However, Mr. Ma, you don’t need to worry too much.”

”The effect of this kind of activity might not be very good.”

”You should know, our Taobao advertisements were broadcast during the three highest-rated segments.”

”The number of users that can be increased is at least twenty to thirty million.”

Listening to the Taobao Manager’s words.

Old Ma nodded helplessly.

”I can only hope so.”

”But I still hope you and other Taobao executives prepare yourselves mentally.”

”After this Spring Festival Gala, Pinduoduo’s user growth might catch up to Taobao.”

After Old Ma finished speaking, the Taobao Manager was somewhat silent.

”Mr. Ma, you mean...”

”Through this interactive Red Envelope advertisement, Pinduoduo’s user growth can also reach the level of twenty to thirty million?”

Old Ma took a deep breath.

”That’s right.”

”This time, Taobao probably won’t be able to widen its lead over Pinduoduo.”

Listening to Old Ma’s words, the voice on the other end of the phone fell silent again for a while.

Because the Taobao Manager knew very well that Taobao spent a full 400 million on this chief sponsorship of the Spring Festival Gala.

While Pinduoduo only spent a little over 100 million.

The two had almost a fourfold difference in sponsorship price.

..... ... 0

But now, Old Ma said that Pinduoduo’s user growth could rival Taobao!

This kind of contrast would probably be unacceptable to anyone.

Fortunately, Pinduoduo also distributed two billion in Red Envelopes, which made the Taobao Manager feel a little better.

However.

The Taobao Manager still didn’t quite believe that Pinduoduo’s user growth would catch up to Taobao.

In his opinion.

These users who downloaded Pinduoduo just for the Red Envelope would not be retained by Pinduoduo at all.

They would probably uninstall Pinduoduo after claiming their Red Envelope.

Whereas users who downloaded Taobao to buy New Year’s goods would basically stay on Taobao.

After all, one reason for downloading Pinduoduo was to claim a Red Envelope, while the reason for downloading Taobao was to buy things.

Logically, there should still be a gap between the two.

Subsequently.

The Taobao Manager told Old Ma his inner thoughts.

Old Ma, however, shook his head.

”This Pinduoduo activity is not as simple as it appears on the surface.”

”I just logged into Pinduoduo and saw that although these Red Envelopes can be directly cashed out, their value will increase significantly if used to purchase goods on Pinduoduo.”

”For example, if you receive a ten-yuan Red Envelope, although it can be cashed out, if used within Pinduoduo, you can purchase fifteen yuan worth of items.”

”This kind of temptation is irresistible to most people.”

”You should first instruct your people at Taobao to prepare themselves mentally for Pinduoduo’s user growth during the Spring Festival Gala to be similar to Taobao’s.”

The Taobao Manager was silent for a moment.

”I understand.”

”I will have my employees prepare.”

After hanging up the phone.

Old Ma looked back at the Spring Festival Gala program.

At this moment, in the bottom right corner of the Spring Festival Gala, a reminder for the second Pinduoduo Shake Red Envelope appeared.

Looking at the all-too-familiar Pinduoduo icon, Old Ma slowly took a deep breath.

”Although Taobao can’t expand its lead in user numbers, at least it won’t be closely approached.”

”At most.”

”This Shake Red Envelope will increase Pinduoduo’s user growth by a few million to ten million more than Taobao’s.”

”But that should be all.”

”Every year, there is only one live broadcast program of this caliber.”

”That is to say, as long as I continue with Taobao’s previous strategy of copying Pinduoduo’s activities after the New Year, Pinduoduo will still not be able to catch up to Taobao.”

After murmuring to himself, Old Ma breathed a sigh of relief.

Although Pinduoduo’s activity during the Spring Festival Gala was indeed somewhat unexpected for him.

But once he calmed down, he also understood.

This was probably Pinduoduo’s last struggle.

Thinking of this, Old Ma no longer dwelled on it and continued to watch the Spring Festival Gala.

When the Spring Festival Gala was halfway through, Taobao’s advertisement reappeared, and this time it also included screenshots from Taobao’s New Year’s goods section.

Looking at the Taobao screenshot that occupied most of the screen, and the host’s extremely long verbal promotion time.

Old Ma also felt that his earlier actions might have been overly cautious.

How could the effect of a Shake advertisement that occasionally appeared in a corner compare to the effect of an advertisement that occupied most of the screen?

And for the rest of the time.

Old Ma completely relaxed and began to enjoy the Spring Festival Gala.

As time passed.

This year’s Spring Festival Gala finally reached its final moments.

When the host said Taobao’s advertisement for the last time, the New Year countdown also came to an end.

When the New Year arrived.

The data of the two software on the Spring Festival Gala was finally displayed in front of everyone.

Chapter 68: Three Times User Growth, Taobao Finally Panics!

On the second day of the Spring Festival Gala.

Both software tacitly did not release data immediately.

After all, users who downloaded the software for the activity the day before might uninstall it after the Spring Festival Gala.

So they needed to wait a few days to get more confirmed data before making it public.

However, just as both sides were compiling data, waiting to see how many users the Spring Festival Gala would add to their respective software.

On this first day of the Lunar New Year.

Another matter caught Wang Mo’s attention.

That was.

wolf warrior 2, which Wang Mo had invested in over a year ago, was released on this day.

Wang Mo sent Red Envelopes to all the company’s employees and invited them to watch the movie.

In Wang Mo’s previous life, this movie was originally released during the summer block, but in this world, it was moved up to the Spring Festival block.
