Villain's Evolution: Investing in My Minions Yields Crazy Returns!

A notification suddenly appeared on Victor’s identity card.

[Sender: Evelyn Moore.]

[Third Training Ground.]

[Shadow Assault Step has reached Beginner mastery.]

Seeing those two lines, Victor instinctively glanced at the time displayed in the upper right corner, which showed 8:47 PM.

Counting from the moment Evelyn received [Shadow Assault Step] that morning, not even twelve hours had passed, yet that woman had actually done it.

Victor’s lips curled up slightly. To say he was not impressed would be a lie. Without wasting any more time, and because he was already done with his training, he quickly exited the training room.

Ten minutes later, at the Third Training Ground.

Night had completely enveloped Starlight Royal Academy. The public training areas that had been filled with students during the day had already become exceptionally quiet, and aside from several specialized training rooms in the distance that were still illuminated by magical lamps, there was hardly another person anywhere across the enormous Third Training Ground.

However, the instant Victor stepped inside, a figure concealed within the darkness shot toward him from behind and to the side, moving so quickly that only a blurred afterimage could be seen.

If this had happened yesterday, such a completely unexpected attack might genuinely have surprised Victor, but now, he did not even turn his head. The instant the shadow came within three meters of him, his right hand suddenly shot backward.

Smack!

Accompanied by a crisp sound, a slender wrist was caught firmly in his palm. The shadow that had been moving at high speed instantly stopped as though someone had forcibly pressed pause.

Evelyn was standing directly behind him, the dagger in her hand still more than ten centimeters away from the back of Victor’s neck.

Neither of them spoke for several seconds before Evelyn finally blinked, obvious astonishment appearing on her face.

”You saw me?”

”I didn’t.”

”Then how did you...”

”Your presence was all over the place.”

Hearing that answer, Evelyn immediately frowned because it made absolutely no sense. She had only seen Victor that morning, and it was not as though she had never sparred casually with the Young Master before. Of course, she knew Victor had already reached Level 21, but the problem was that the reaction speed he had displayed in the past had definitely never been this fast.

Evelyn pulled her wrist free and retreated several steps, a fierce look appearing on her face.

”Again,” she said. ”Let’s try one more time.”

”I’m not interested,” replied Victor.

”I already trained Shadow Assault Step to Beginner mastery.” Evelyn raised her chin as she looked at him, clearly having not forgotten their agreement from that morning. ”Where’s the thing you promised me?”

”Let me see it first.”

Evelyn did not waste any more words. She bent her legs slightly, and in the next instant, her entire body vanished from where she stood with an almost inaudible sound of displaced air.

Whoosh!

Her speed had not truly reached the point where Victor could no longer track her.

What was genuinely special was that while moving at high speed, Evelyn produced almost no footsteps whatsoever.

And even the disturbance in the air caused by her body cutting through it, along with the fluctuations of her mana, had been suppressed to an extremely low level.

She circled around the training dummy ahead, changed direction twice in rapid succession, then suddenly appeared on Victor’s right side, the dagger in her hand stopping steadily in front of his chest.

”Well?” asked Evelyn with a smug smile on her face.

”Not bad.”

The trace of pride that had just appeared on Evelyn’s face quickly vanished.

”Not bad?”

”You only just reached Beginner mastery, after all.”

”But this morning, you were the one who told me to reach Beginner mastery within a day.”

”Which is why the reward is still yours.”

It was only after hearing those words that Evelyn’s expression finally improved again.

Victor opened the academy equipment warehouse and restricted the search results to Epic grade daggers. The prices appearing before him ranged from slightly over two hundred thousand gold coins all the way to more than a million, an enormous difference.

After briefly filtering through them, his gaze finally stopped on one particular weapon.

[Night Raven]

[Quality: Epic]

[Equipment Level: 18]

[Attack Amplification: +34%]

[Agility: +12]

[Trait: Silent: Further reduces sound and mana fluctuations while the user is moving at high speed.]

[Trait: Dark Assault: Deals an additional 20% damage when attacking an enemy’s weak points.]

[Price: 420,000 Gold Coins.]

For Victor, whose account currently contained only a little over one million gold coins, four hundred and twenty thousand gold coins, was definitely not a small amount. Still, after looking at it for only a few seconds, he made his decision.

”Purchase.”

[Payment Successful.]

Almost the instant the payment was completed, the familiar system notifications appeared before Victor’s eyes.

[Detected: Host is making a second investment in A rank potential target ”Evelyn Moore.”]

[Investment Item: Epic grade Dagger ”Night Raven.”]

[Investment Value: 420,000 Gold Coins.]

[Target currently possesses the skill Shadow Assault Step, which possesses extremely high compatibility with this equipment.]

[Target’s Growth Motivation: Extremely High.]

[This investment will significantly increase the target’s combat ability.]

[Determined to be a Valid Investment.]

’Here it comes.’ Victor’s eyes brightened slightly.

[Calculating Investment Return Multiplier...]

[Congratulations, Host! 145x Return Multiplier triggered!]

[Equivalent Return Value: 60,900,000 Gold Coins!]

Sixty million nine hundred thousand!

The return value was even more outrageous than his previous investment in Noah, but that did not mean Evelyn possessed greater potential than Noah.

Rather, the value of this investment itself was far higher than the previous one, while [Night Raven] and the [Shadow Assault Step] she had just mastered formed an almost perfect combination. Naturally, the resulting return was far more astonishing.

[Please select a return method.]

[1: 60,900,000 Gold Coins.]

[2: Epic Equipment Set: Shadow Walker.]

[3: Permanent Attribute Reward: Strength +35, Constitution +35.]

[4: Special Skill: Shadow Blink.]
