Villain's Evolution: Investing in My Minions Yields Crazy Returns!

Leah walked over to the silver Spirit Testing Pillar and gently placed her palm against it.

Buzz!

At first, only a faint layer of white light appeared on the testing pillar, but in the next second, the light rapidly climbed upward as the number representing her Spirit attribute started to change.

The numbers didn’t show any sign of stopping, quickly surpassing fifty!

[Spirit: 71]

As they saw this, the previously noisy spectator stands instantly grew much quieter. Those who had been trash talking Leah earlier also swallowed their words.

”This...” The old man’s breathing quickened. He had expected it to be quite high, but this... this wasn’t what he had expected.

Thinking that the testing pillar was broken, he said, ”Test again.”

Leah nodded and placed her hand on it once more.

[Spirit: 71]

Still 71!!!

There was no mistake whatsoever!

Even Instructor Roland’s expression finally changed noticeably because, under normal circumstances, the Spirit attribute of a Level 15 magic profession would usually remain somewhere between thirty and forty five. Only an extremely small number of exceptionally gifted geniuses could surpass fifty points at this level.

But seventy one points of Spirit was no longer something that could simply be described as outstanding. It was abnormal!

Taking in a deep breath, the white haired old man calmed his emotions, as he still needed to conduct this test with a level head.

”Next: Mana!”

Leah took a deep breath. The previous low results had almost affected her mentally. But now, the reaction she had gotten from the old man was a huge confidence boost to her.

Without hesitation, she placed her palm on the pillar again.

As the Astral Core that had only recently condensed within her slowly began to rotate, a stream of silver mana continuously surged from her palm into the pillar.

[100]

[200]

[400]

The numbers skyrocketed. It was like a slap to all those who had mocked her at the beginning!

Even after breaking through 400, it still showed no sign of stopping, while the quiet discussions around them gradually disappeared as the number continued to climb.

Finally, the wildly fluctuating number came to a stop.

[Mana: 1,180]

For a moment, the entire testing ground was so quiet that even the sound of a needle dropping could be heard.

Everyone stared at the number displayed on the testing pillar as though wondering whether they had seen it incorrectly, and only after several full seconds did the spectators finally seem to process what they had just witnessed as the stands erupted into an uproar.

”One thousand one hundred and eighty?!”

”She’s only Level 15!”

”Is the testing device broken?!”

”You’ve got to be kidding! Even some mages above Level 20 might not have that much Mana!”

”How is that possible?” Even Cecilia narrowed her eyes slightly.

Mind you, she was Level 27 and, as a genius possessing both light and darkness attributes, her mana reserves were already far beyond those of professionals of the same level.

But when she had been Level 15, she definitely had not possessed this kind of absurd mana.

’As expected of SSS rank.’ Victor looked at the number, not even surprised in the slightest.

If SSS rank only made her slightly stronger than an ordinary genius, then such a rating would be meaningless.

The white haired old man immediately walked over to the testing pillar and personally examined it.

”The equipment is functioning normally.” His gaze toward Leah grew increasingly bright.

”Skills.” Roland, who had suffered another wave of shock, shouted from the side. ”Test her skills!”

Leah looked confused. ”But I don’t know how to use them.”

”Close your eyes,” the old man said.

”Sense your profession core. After the first awakening of a hidden profession, the user will usually naturally obtain at least one initial skill.”

Leah closed her eyes as instructed.

Thanks to the system, Victor, however, saw the changes in her profession panel first.

[Astral Spirit Envoy initial skills generated.] ℯℯ𝘭.

[Skill 1: Astral Chains]

[Quality: Epic]

[Effect: Condenses astral energy into chains capable of restraining targets and interfering with their mana circulation.]

[Skill 2: Starfall]

[Quality: Epic]

[Effect: Condenses highly concentrated astral energy within a target area, creating a long range impact.]

Seeing both skills at Epic Rank, even Victor could not help raising an eyebrow.

If those instructors found out, they would probably lose their minds all over again.

Several seconds later, Leah opened her eyes.

”I think... I have two.”

”Two?” the white haired old man repeated.

”Mm.”

”Use one first.”

At the center of the testing ground, dozens of meters away, a reinforced puppet designed specifically for skill testing slowly rose.

[Training Puppet]

[Level: 26]

[Defense Standard: Late Tier 1]

”Don’t focus on power,” Instructor Roland reminded her from the side. ”This is your first release. Control your mana.”

Leah nodded. She raised her right hand, her Astral Core rotating once again.

Buzz!

A strand of glowing silver light appeared at her fingertips.

The next second, four silver chains suddenly erupted from beneath the puppet!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The four Astral Chains instantly wrapped around the puppet’s limbs.

Clack!

The training puppet, which had been moving moments earlier, paused. Its internal mana circuits began flashing violently.

The expression of the instructor controlling the puppet changed instantly.

”It’s suppressing the mana circuits!”

Before he could finish speaking, Leah suddenly felt another instinctive response coming from within her Astral Core.

She raised her head. Her right hand instinctively pressed downward.

Buzz!

Above the testing ground, a silver point of light no larger than a fist suddenly appeared. Then it began expanding at a speed visible to the naked eye!

”The second skill,” Cecilia muttered.

Boom!

Under the astonished eyes of the spectators, the silver starlight suddenly descended like a meteor!

BANG!!!

The entire training ground trembled violently as the puppet’s location was instantly swallowed by silver light, sending a shockwave outward.

The instructor overseeing the test did not even have time to stop her.

When the silver light finally dissipated, the Level 26 training puppet’s chest had completely caved in, and its left arm had been torn off. Yet the four silver chains had still not disappeared.

[Test Target Damage: 67%.]

Upon seeing the number, Leah herself appeared shocked, as if she didn’t expect to cause this much damage.

”I... I only used about one tenth of my mana.”

Hearing this, the corner of the instructor’s mouth twitched violently.

Tenth?

You call this tenth?

A Level 15 professional, using this skill for the very first time, had crippled a Level 26 combat puppet with a single attack, and she seriously wanted him to believe it was just one tenth of her mana.

In the spectator stands, Felix was there too. He was the same lightning swordsman who had defeated Leah nine consecutive times in the outdoor training ground not long ago.

Right now, his expression was extraordinarily complicated!

”How... how did she get so strong?”
