I'm an Unknown Actress, But Everyone Knows Me

The children around them let out excited squeals.

—The more breathless I get, the louder I’ll shout

The flying squirrel strutted around the stage like it owned the place. Music thundered through the speakers.

The kick drum pounded in a steady four-beat rhythm. It sounded like it was synchronizing with people’s heartbeats. Over it came rough guitar riffs scraping through the air.

—I’m going to become myself, no one else but me!

The flying squirrel spread both arms wide. It felt like the voice itself was exploding outward.

—Failure is only a stepping stone to help me fly even higher

—I’m not perfect

The rabbit beside her charged in together with the next line. The children nearby already seemed deeply familiar with the OST as they shouted excitedly.

“Joy! Joy! Joy!”

The only thing missing was glow sticks. Otherwise, the energy rivaled an idol concert.

The fact that they genuinely sang like real pop stars played a huge role in that.

—But I’ll never give up either! (Try! Jump!)

With a sharp crashing cymbal sound, the rabbit sang as though charging into a frenzy. Even while dragging out impossibly high notes, the voice remained stable.

—Until I reach the edge of the sky! (Try! Jump!)

The flying squirrel followed that voice.

By now, a huge crowd had gathered around them.

People listening from the second and third floors pulled out their phones and began filming the live performance.

“Joy! Joy! Joy!”

The excited cries of the children grew louder and louder. They really looked like residents of Sweet Town itself.

The song ended amid overwhelming frenzy.

Even Eunnyangi’s friends were smiling happily.

Only Eunnyangi silently stared at the flying squirrel.

“Did everyone enjoy Joy and Lala’s amazing performance?!”

Answers erupted from every direction at the MC’s question. The children’s voices dominated overwhelmingly, but even the adults responded while laughing.

“Do you want to hear one more song~?”

“Yeeees!”

“Really?”

“YEEES!”

The decibel level from overexcited children echoed thunderously through the venue.

The flying squirrel even stretched out both hands to hype up the crowd.

“But what should we do? Joy ★ ★ and Lala say they’re soooo tired.”

“Nooo!”

“Then should we let them transform for a bit before singing again?”

“YEEES!”

Like a dark magician controlling children, the MC skillfully drew answers out of them.

“Joy! Lala! Please transform!”

At the MC’s words, the rabbit and flying squirrel briefly turned around.

Then they removed their mascot heads.

“Please welcome Joy and Lala!”

As the sweat-soaked Han Yeoreum turned around, her eyes met Eunnyangi’s.

“...”

Just like before, Han Yeoreum blew a kiss toward Eunnyangi.

At the exact same moment, camera shutters exploded wildly from every direction.

Inside JC ENM’s PR department, Manager Hong seriously monitored reactions while scrolling.

It was currently a weekend in May.

The department stores were more crowded than ever.

Fancams taken on-site were being uploaded everywhere.

Manager Hong smiled while checking the videos.

Right then, one clip currently riding the algorithm caught his eye.

[Exclusive ⎸ Yousta “Rolls” launches in Korea... Is Tintok’s one-top system finally breaking?]

The true one-minute video war has officially begun. Yousta’s newly introduced “short-form” feature, created to compete against Intube — previously Korea’s number-one app in usage — is drawing attention. Any content, shortened. Simplified. Only the most interesting sections viewed through timestamps. Critics and supporters alike are calling it a system perfectly suited to today’s MZ generation...

Right.

This was the age of Rolls.

Han Yeoreum’s live performance clips began spreading across social media through Rolls.

At this point, they barely even needed promotional manipulation anymore. The videos promoted themselves.

The Yousta algorithm heavily affected Intube traffic too.

As a result, viewers began flooding JC ENM’s official Intube channel to watch the full version.

“Starting things off by dominating everyone live really changes things, huh? Right?”

Assistant Manager Shin said while checking comments.

As he said, the negative opinions that occasionally appeared regarding Han Yeoreum’s casting had now completely vanished.

—Whoever cast Han Yeoreum LOLOLOL deserves an award

Instead, most reactions toward Han Yeoreum’s casting had become favorable.

“Right. And after the release, it’ll get even bigger.”

The event had been an enormous success.

Thanks to the buzz generated right before release day, immediately climbed to #1 in ticket reservations.

SweetWatermelon swallowed her tears with an aching heart.

‘Ah... seriously....’

The same thing happened during Han Yeoreum’s birthday café event.

And now again.

SweetWatermelon felt like she was going insane from constantly missing jackpot moments by the tiniest margin.

Han Yeoreum leaving right before SweetWatermelon entered.

And now this time, standing right in front of Han Yeoreum yet failing to recognize her.

SweetWatermelon had contracted an incurable case of “If only I had done something differently back then.”

“Hey, Park Sumin, what are you doing?”

“Uh... Han Taeyang, hi....”

While staggering along in despair, SweetWatermelon ran into a familiar face.

‘...Should I ask him for just one stage greeting ticket...?’

After it was revealed that Han Yeoreum had been inside the flying squirrel mascot suit, the stage greeting ticket war became far too intense for an ordinary person like SweetWatermelon to compete in.

The amount of buzz surrounding , already spread wildly through social media and communities, was enormous.

Even ordinary people had started thinking, “Maybe I should go to a stage greeting too?”

‘It wouldn’t even look suspicious.... It’s literally the hottest movie being talked about right now.... Although maybe stage greetings WOULD look suspicious...?’

SweetWatermelon was overwhelmed by the urge to grab Han Taeyang and demand he let her see his older sister.

The flying squirrel who held her hand and hugged her had been Han Yeoreum.

If she’d known that, she would never have gone to eat back then even if it meant starving.

“What are you doing tomorrow?”

“Why...?”

“If you’re free, wanna go watch a movie?”

SweetWatermelon’s eyes widened.

She’d been deeply struggling between pretending to be a normal person and her accidental position as the close younger-sister-like friend of Han Yeoreum ten years into the future.

“What movie? What movie?”

She had memorized every single theater and stage greeting schedule Han Yeoreum would appear at.

Han Taeyang’s answer suddenly became desperately important.

“.”

“What time? Where?”

“Wangsimni, 2 PM.”

“OFCOURSEIWANNAGOI’MSOFREE!”

The instant Han Taeyang answered, SweetWatermelon practically screamed her response.

People nearby immediately turned to look.

“What’s that?”

“Are they flirting or something?”

“She looks emotionally overwhelmed....”

SweetWatermelon couldn’t hear the surrounding whispers at all.

Trying to act as normal as possible, she quickly changed the topic.

“But the tickets? Did your sister give them to you?”

“? No. I bought them myself during ticketing.”

Aetami packed her flying squirrel lap blanket and camera.

Today was finally the day of the stage greeting.

‘Yeoreum-ah....’

Just thinking about seeing Han Yeoreum made Aetami’s heart pound.

She too had contracted the “If only I had done something differently back then” disease because she’d only focused on stage greetings and never even imagined live events would happen.

Every time she replayed the videos, she regretted over and over that she should’ve been in Yeouido that day.

After briefly becoming emotionally devastated, Aetami decided to attend every single stage greeting for .

‘It’s a genre I like anyway!’

She was already replaying all the OSTs nonstop when she encountered a familiar face while entering the theater.

IP 85.152 wanted to verify the quality of the film supposedly involving a Hollywood music director.

After all, she was a cultured intellectual naturally interested in theater and musicals, so researching the flow of popular music was only logical.

And this was Noah, of all people.

There was no way she could avoid being interested in that dazzling talent crossing between science fiction and animation.

‘It’s hard to focus on the music when multiple languages are mixed together.’

That was why she chose the dubbed version.

Even though it was a weekday, the theater was packed with viewers, which filled her with satisfaction as a contributor to Korean arts and culture.

Of course, this genre itself wasn’t to her taste.

Animation, or animated films, were originally static visual media enhanced with voices to create movement and dynamism. In the past, they had been viewed as something only children watched, but gradually their artistic value had begun receiving recognition...

‘Ah. It’s starting.’

The lights in the theater dimmed.

A beautiful fairy-tale castle appeared onscreen.

Along with the Disney logo came the sound of children laughing.

Music overflowing with the excitement of something magical beginning started to play.
