Fated to My Billionaire Husband

”Mingxi, you’re not getting any younger, and I don’t want you to marry when you’re old. Now that you’ve finally met Xiao Lang, he’s really great in every way. I don’t want you to miss out on him. Since you don’t know how to cherish him, we’ll have to cherish him for you.”

Li Mingxi bit her lip, ”But, I don’t want to get married my whole life.”

Li’s mother didn’t get angry, ”Why? Do you like women?”

Li Mingxi shook her head, ”No, I just like being single.”

”Once you’re married, you’ll enjoy living as a family.”

”Mom, living with you all, isn’t it already family?”

Li’s mother shook her head, ”Your grandmother is getting old, and your dad and I don’t know how many years we have left. Once we’re gone, you’ll be alone. Mingchen will have his own family, at that time, who will be your family?”

Indeed, Li Mingxi couldn’t accept being the only lonely person in the family.

”Xiao Lang is really nice. If you marry him, you’ll definitely be happy. You should seriously consider it.”

”Can I still consider?!”

Li’s mother smiled slightly, ”Of course, but we won’t take your opinion into account.”

”...”

”Oh, I almost forgot, I came to see you because I wanted to get something.”

Li Mingxi was very puzzled, ”What are you looking for?”

Li’s mother didn’t answer her and directly found Li Mingxi’s passport, household registration book, and identification card.

”I’ll keep these things safe for you. I’ll return them once you’re married.”

”Mom—” Li Mingxi was stunned.

With all her documents taken away by her mom, how was she supposed to escape?

Li’s mother’s tone was very firm, ”You don’t need to say anything. It’s set. I’ll keep them for now.”

”Can I at least keep my ID card?”

”No way!” Li’s mother’s tone left no room for negotiation.

Ignoring Li Mingxi’s objections and protests, she took her documents and walked away forcefully.

Li Mingxi grew more troubled. Is she really going to marry Xiao Lang?

After her mother left, Li Mingxi thought alone for a long time.

She admitted, she was moved, softened, and she wanted to marry Xiao Lang too.

But, she still needed more courage.

...

Early the next morning, Li’s mother and the others found a note left by Li Mingxi, saying she wanted to go out for a couple of days to clear her mind and asked them not to look for her.

Li’s mother was annoyed by her behavior, but also relieved that she had seized her documents in advance.

Without an ID, Li Mingxi couldn’t leave A City; at least she was still in A City.

Xiao Lang knew about Li Mingxi running away and felt a bit down, but he was prepared for worse, and this was not the worst outcome.

Xiao Lang said the wedding preparations would continue, and he would go find her.

...

Without an ID, Li Mingxi had nowhere to go.

So, she thickened her skin to mooch food and drink at someone else’s house.

”This is your room. You can stay as long as you like. If you need anything, just let Sister Wang know to buy it.” Li Qian carried Li Mingxi’s luggage into her bedroom, smiling as he spoke to her.

Li Mingxi didn’t have any demands, ”This is fine as it is. Thank you for taking me in.”

”Why did you run away from home?” Li Qian asked.

”I miss my godson, I really do, so I’ve decided to spend a few days with him.”

Li Qian chuckled, ”How fake! If you were acting, you’d win an Oscar!”

Li Mingxi curled her lips into a smile, ”Believe it or not, it’s up to you.”

”You’re not running away to escape marriage, are you?” Li Qian asked, arms crossed, grinning.
