Fated to My Billionaire Husband

Li Mingxi suddenly really wanted to cry.

Fine, if it could make him feel a little better, she would just agree.

”Okay... we’ll do it your way,” Li Mingxi nodded and said.

A lot of the weight in Xiao Lang’s heart lifted; he truly didn’t want to see her body grow thinner by the day.

He had actually guessed it too—she had developed anorexia, and this illness was very serious.

Given time, it would trigger many symptoms.

He was afraid something might happen to Li Mingxi, so he had no choice but to bow his head first and give her this promise.

”Then I’ll get going. Remember to eat on time.”

”I will.” Li Mingxi answered very earnestly, just to put his mind at ease.

Xiao Lang stood up and added, ”From now on, I’ll have two meals delivered to you every day. Whatever you want to eat, just tell the person who brings it.”

”Okay.”

Xiao Lang wanted to remind her of something more; he opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing.

”Then I’m leaving.”

He turned and strode away. The door opened, then closed again...

Li Mingxi couldn’t hold it together anymore; her tears came pouring down.

She hurriedly pulled out a tissue to wipe away her tears, then got up to eat.

She opened the stainless steel thermal containers one by one, and a rich aroma rushed up to her.

Li Mingxi picked up a spoon and started with the soup.

The soup was chicken broth with the fat skimmed off; it smelled wonderful, but in her mouth it had no taste at all.

But she knew this chicken soup had been made by Xiao Lang, not by anyone else.

She knew his cooking; this was his...

Li Mingxi blinked, and two drops of tears fell into the chicken soup.

After a few spoonfuls of soup, Li Mingxi went on to eat the meal.

In truth she couldn’t eat anything at all, but for Xiao Lang’s sake she forced the food into her mouth—whether she could eat or not, she had to!

”Director?!” Xiaohan pushed the door open and came in; seeing her like that, she was stunned.

But Li Mingxi didn’t hear her voice; she ate while crying, and seeing her so full of sorrow, Xiaohan’s eyes turned red as well.

Xiao Lang knew that Li Mingxi couldn’t eat much, so he hadn’t dared to bring too much food.

There was only a small portion of each dish; based on her former appetite, it was just enough to get her seven or eight tenths full.

She finished everything, forcing it down.

But not long after she finished, Li Mingxi clapped a hand over her mouth and rushed to the bathroom to throw up.

Everything she had eaten came back up.

All of Xiao Lang’s effort had gone to waste.

Leaning on the sink, Li Mingxi cried as if the sky had collapsed, and only when she was exhausted from crying did she go out and lie down on the sofa, where she fell asleep.

Li Mingxi had never been the sentimental type.

This level of grief and heartache was already her limit.

After crying, she felt much better and decided to pull herself together.

In the afternoon, sure enough, Xiao Lang sent someone over with food.

Li Mingxi didn’t dare finish everything; she ate what she could, but she drank all of the soup that was sent.

......

The days passed in this quiet, uneventful way.

In the blink of an eye, two days had gone by. Li Mingxi’s appetite hadn’t improved at all; each time she only ate a little bit.

But she drank soup every day; at least her body wasn’t deteriorating further.

Li Mingxi would also seize any chance to eat a little something— even a single orange segment was better than nothing.

While Li Mingxi was working hard to nurse her body, her mother was busy lining up blind dates for her.

”The guy you’re meeting today is three years younger than you, but he seems very steady. Spend a bit more time with him; you might find you like him more the longer you look,” her mother said to her over the phone.

Li Mingxi answered with a smile, ”Mom, I got it.”

”Then get there a little early. I’m hanging up.”

”Okay.”
