Family Rise by Daily Intelligence

Chapter 436: Chapter 222: Bargain, Gaining Another Son, Marriage Matters (2)

The Hee Clan Leader also made preparations in advance.

The Hee Family does not have as many resources as the Fu Family to build a city, but based on the Fu Family’s longstanding way of doing things, since the Fu Family wants to build a city, it must not be without good reason.

Meizhen nodded slightly:

”Once the Beast Tide breaks out, we of the Human Race must support each other. Brother Hee, on this point, I can promise you right now. What is your second request?”

As for the second request.

Contrarily, Hee Clan Leader’s expression softened and he said with a smile:

”Madam Fu, as for the second request, I hope our Hee Family and the Fu Family can form an alliance through marriage. As long as you, Madam Fu, have your eyes on any of my children, either as a son-in-law or daughter-in-law, I, Hee, would be most delighted.”

Besides binding interests.

Marriage is the main method for alliances between two Noble Families.

Meizhen’s mind raced.

Brother Fan is already married. As for Yaoyao, even without her mentioning it, her husband would certainly not let her marry out. Among the triplets, only Brother Rong remains, but it was discussed with Uncle Fei that Brother Rong’s marriage would only be considered after his Foundation Establishment.

All things considered.

No one is suitable for marriage.

But the Thousand Sun Stone is the cornerstone for city building.

Suddenly.

Meizhen thought of another person and immediately said:

”Brother Hee, in that case, I will choose a suitable day once I return, to bring a formal proposal.”

”Very well, very well!”

The Hee Clan Leader was overjoyed.

The two of them had a pleasant conversation.

After returning from the Hee Family’s territory, Meizhen called Brother Fan over: ”Brother Fan, where is your sworn brother? Help me find him, I have important matters to discuss with him.”

Upon mentioning the sworn brother.

Brother Fan was momentarily taken aback.

After a while, he realized that Meizhen was referring to his father’s previously recognized sworn son, Fu Yongrui, and then he said:

”Reporting to Mother, the sworn brother completed in one go all the family tasks he needed to accomplish in the next ten years. Since returning to the clan, he has remained in seclusion, and I have not seen him for years. I do not know whether he is still in seclusion or has gone out, but I will inquire.”

”Mm, go ahead, I will be waiting for you in the Council Hall.”

Meizhen flipped her right hand.

She took out a jade scroll containing intelligence on the Hee Family members and began to study it carefully.

....

Brother Fan left the Council Hall.

He reached the Daoist Field halfway up the mountain, unlike other family members, Fu Changsheng brought back Fu Yongrui and had Jade Lotus instruct him for a while, but after Yunrui entered Qi Refining, he voluntarily asked for a separate residence from Fu Changsheng.

Fu Changsheng, considering the inhuman torture Fu Yongrui had endured for over a decade.

Agreed to the request.

Originally, he thought that Yongrui could interact more with the family members to open his heart, but some wounds are not humanly healable.

Therefore, he specially approved Fu Yongrui to build a secluded courtyard behind the bamboo forest of the Daoist Field halfway up the mountain, where few people tread, the tall bamboo enveloping the courtyard completely, making it very secretive, and with its back against a mountain, even the sun seldom reaches it.

The whole place had a somewhat eerie feel.

Brother Fan stood outside the bamboo forest courtyard and peeked inside, noticing the courtyard gate Array was closed, with a dusty bell hanging on the courtyard wall.

”Ding ding ding!”

The bell rang.

Yet there was no response from within the bamboo forest courtyard.

Brother Fan patiently waited for a long time, assuming that Fu Yongrui had gone out, when suddenly the Array Light Curtain of the courtyard began to ripple.

The door creaked open.

Fu Yongrui slowly stepped out of the courtyard.

He was wearing a long black robe, the hem lightly fluttering in the wind, like a shadow walking at night. His face was pale, and his deep and cold eyes seemed to see through the darkest corners of the human heart, yet also seemed disinterested in the world’s phenomena. His eyebrows were sharp and slightly furrowed, exuding a sense of aloofness.

Although it wasn’t the first time interacting with Fu Yongrui, Brother Fan couldn’t help but feel a tad nervous, hurriedly bowing and saying:

”I apologize for interrupting your cultivation, sworn brother. Mother has something important to discuss with you and is waiting in the Council Hall if you could please come?”

”Mm.”

Brother Fan only felt a rush of Yin Cold Power pass by, and then Fu Yongrui was nowhere to be seen, causing him to swallow nervously.

After years in seclusion.

This sworn brother had become even more unfathomable.

....

Inside the Council Hall.

Meizhen, who was selecting a candidate for marriage, suddenly sensed something and lifted her head from the jade scroll, only to find someone already standing within the hall in a blink of an eye.

This body technique.

Quick and uncanny.

Even as one who had completed Foundation Establishment, she might easily be taken by surprise.

Meizhen glanced at Fu Yongrui, who merged with the shadows in the hall, and instantly changed her previous thoughts.

She put the jade scroll away.

With a gentle expression, she said:

”Yongrui, I heard from Brother Fan that you’ve completed many family tasks in one go and have been in seclusion ever since. Your father is also busy with his own seclusion, so I was worried and thought to see you. Cultivation is good when done with focus and diligence, but it’s also important to balance work and rest.”

She spoke as if they were merely having a casual chat.

Fu Yongrui clearly was not accustomed.

Typically, Meizhen would say several sentences, and he would reply with just one.

After a while.

Fu Yongrui bowed and said:

”Mother, if there is nothing pressing, I will take my leave now.”

”Mm, mm, go ahead, remember, if you encounter anything you don’t understand in cultivation, don’t get stuck on it alone, feel free to ask me.”
