Family Rise by Daily Intelligence

Chapter 432: Chapter 221: Hostages, Nuptials Abound, Living City

On the deck of the treasure ship, two men and one woman dressed in core disciple attire of the Taiyun County Liuu Family were excitedly watching the fertile fields, forests, and rivers passing below the treasure ship one by one.

All three were around twenty years old.

However, the standing positions of the three were distinctly different. At the forefront was Liuu Yunming, holding an Autumn Moon Fan, with an Azure Waves Jade Pendant from the Land of the Far West hanging at his waist. To his left was Liuu Yunting with a Cangling Ring on his right thumb, and to the right was the petite Liuu Yunfeng, though a woman, she wore no accessories at all.

Liuu Yunming gazed at the scenery below the treasure ship, whispering to Liuu Yunting:

”Second brother, I heard that Jingzhou is the land of the Southern Barbarians. It really seems so; you see, as we go further south, the Spiritual Qi becomes increasingly scarce, and Foundation Establishment using Object-Controlling Flight has decreased a lot. This time, father sending us three to the Fu Family is clearly an exile. Even if the Fu Family is Ninth Grade, it’s probably not better than our Taiyun County.”

”Elder brother, mind your words!”

Liuu Yunming is the eldest son of the Taiyun County Liuu Clan Leader, Liuu Mingyun.

He has always spoken without restraint.

Being a concubine’s son, Liuu Yunting was startled, instinctively glancing around, seeing only family around, and slightly relaxed.

Just about to calmly counsel,

but saw Liuu Yunming staring at him with a chilling gaze.

Liuu Yunting’s heart tightened:

”Elder brother, I was just momentarily anxious, which made my tone harsh. But we are now on the Fu Family Treasure Ship, and there’s no guarantee that our words won’t reach our Foundation Establishment aunt’s ears, so I...”

”What about you!”

Liuu Yunming’s eyes sharpened; he disliked being lectured:

”I say, second brother, do you think just because you’re also sent as a hostage to the Fu Family, you can stand equal to me? Don’t forget, your mother is nothing more than a rough maidservant to my mother, just a thing!”

Liuu Yunming snorted coldly.

Turned away,

not looking at Liuu Yunting again.

Rebuked in public, Liuu Yunting showed no anger on his face, as if accustomed to it. Instead, Liuu Yunfeng, who had been silent, cast a concerned look at him.

Liuu Yunting gave a barely perceptible shake of his head.

Their interest was quickly extinguished by this small episode.

After a while,

a guard in disguise quickly stepped forward, saluted the three:

”Young Master, Second Master, Third Miss, the Grand Elder requests your presence.”

Liuu Yunming closed the Autumn Moon Fan, turned around, and bent down to enter the cabin first. Liuu Yunting followed closely, and Liuu Yunfeng walked last, eyes lowered.

The three entered the Grand Elder’s cabin.

The Grand Elder cast a technique into the cabin, and suddenly, an array light curtain rose:

”Don’t just stand there, sit.”

The Grand Elder waved his sleeve.

Three meditation mats descended.

After the three greeted, Liuu Yunming sat naturally on the middle mat.

After they sat,

the Grand Elder solemnly said:

”This time the clan selected you three as hostages; before entering the Fu Family’s territory, the Patriarch has a few words for me to instruct you three.”

Upon hearing this,

Liuu Yunting and Liuu Yunfeng immediately sat upright.

Liuu Yunming grumbled, muttering something inaudible.

The Grand Elder frowned slightly at this.

Continued:

”You three are all from the line of the Clan Leader. Although sent as hostages to the Fu Family, the future Patriarch of the Taiyun County Liuu Family will be chosen from among you three.”

Upon hearing this,

Liuu Yunming’s expression changed slightly.

The position of family head in the Liuu Family has always been inherited by the legitimate line. As the eldest son, the next head would naturally fall to him.

This time bringing along the second and third is just for show.

Liuu Yunming pursed his lips,

feeling that the older the Grand Elder gets, the more long-winded he becomes.

He estimated that these words were what the elder wanted to say himself, borrowing his father’s name, just fearing that the three of them would not heed.

The voice from above continued from the Grand Elder:

”The title of hostage is not pleasant.”

”But entering the Fu Family this time is a great opportunity for you to broaden your horizons and temper your minds.”

”Once you enter the Fu Family’s territory, there are a few key points you must remember.”

Liuu Yunming, hearing that there was a first, second, and third,

felt increasingly impatient,

already starting to fantasize about the days after entering the Fu Family’s territory.

As for what the Grand Elder said, it went in one ear and out the other:

”First: Be cautious and humble. Once at the Fu Family, you are no longer the lofty sons of nobility. You must control your temper and always remember that now you are under someone else’s roof. No matter what you do, you must think thrice before acting. Unlike being in the clan territory, where your elders would bail you out of trouble.”

”Second,”

”Upon reaching the Fu Family, regardless of what you see or hear about the Fu Family, do not disclose anything to outsiders, including us old folks.”

”Finally,”

”Always remember that your veins carry the blood of the Taiyun County Liuu Family.”

.....

The Sound Insulation Technique set by Grand Elder Liuu was naturally unable to block the peeping of a Foundation Establishment Divine Sense. In the second floor cabin of the treasure ship, Ouyang Fei nodded slightly as he listened to Grand Elder Liuu’s instructions:

”Meizhen, the Taiyun County Liuu Family seems quite sensible.”

Liuu Meizhen was studying a newly acquired Pill Recipe, occasionally annotating a few lines on a jade scroll, and replied lightly upon hearing:

”Uncle Fei, what you think is what Grand Elder Liuu intends.”

Ouyang Fei, not being foolish,

immediately realized:

”Meizhen, you mean this Grand Elder Liuu deliberately said it for us to hear?”
