Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1495: Chapter 1493: Temporary Spokesperson

Coercion and enticement have always been the unchallengeable power of those in charge.

Having immersed himself in academia for many years, how could Fu Qian not understand this principle?

Unlike unscrupulous capitalists like Miss Wen, he never intended to exploit President Cass’s trusted protégé.

In fact, he believed that after tirelessly pondering her methods all day, Professor Lisa should take a break and refresh her mind.

”Owing me a debt of gratitude isn’t just lip service, is it... So, how do you plan to repay it?”

Unfortunately, for Professor Lisa, although the demigod in front of her hadn’t been with the Academy for long, he had already shown himself to be as cunning and crafty as Cass, especially after their last academic field study.

So even though the idea of a favor was quite pleasing, she still somewhat skeptically made a request.

”Simple, it seems your project has recently hit a bottleneck?”

Fu Qian glanced into the depths of the tower.

”...Sort of, but I’ve made some progress—what’s your intention? You’re not planning to complete it for me, are you?”

Upon being abruptly confronted with her predicament, Lisa reflexively defended herself but was suddenly startled, lifting her head with a somewhat resistant tone.

...

”Rest assured, how could Fu have so little respect for academia.”

With a wave, signaling Lisa not to worry, Professor Fu laughed heartily.

”Although it was a joint exploration at the time, your dedicated research in recent days must surely make you more authoritative on the matter.”

This was not merely a polite remark; although Professor Lisa faced a bottleneck, Fu Qian never considered it tactful to intrude on someone else’s project impulsively.

As a devoted academic worker willing to devote effort to such matters, Fu Qian absolutely believed that Professor Lisa wouldn’t want this type of help.

”Then you are...”

Relieved yet with a slight hint of disappointment, Lisa didn’t hide her puzzlement.

”It’s very simple, although I and Cass may not have too much energy to focus on academics, we can at least try to create some conditions for you.”

His tone full of emotion, Fu Qian pointed to the bone mask in the corner.

”In my view, your current difficulty is largely due to a lack of comparative material, so I intend to accompany you once more to search the last survey site.”

Ah?

Others didn’t grasp the origins of the mask; apart from finding Fu Qian’s antiquated tone a bit eerie, there wasn’t a particularly strong impression. However, Professor Lisa was startled by the suggestion of material assurance.

”What’s wrong, wasn’t that thing already entrusted to Heaven’s Commencement Institute?”

Fu Qian expressed his confusion at her hesitant demeanor.

”The Divine Ashes Institute cherishes that place dearly; although they lost ownership, they strongly urged against any damage by claiming numerous projects are ongoing there.”

Here, it was Lanaia who explained on the side.

It was easy to guess what Fu Qian was referring to, and as the long-time spectator and head of the Punishment Department, her face was filled with admiration.

The look in her eyes seemed to say, as expected of you, wherever you go, you find innovative ways to create havoc.

And as she deciphered this, knowing that even Lanaia was so well-informed, Fu Qian could fully imagine the ”intensity” from the Divine Ashes Institute.

”Not to destroy easily, this is a key project supervised by a demigod.”

However, a small obstacle was hardly enough to inhibit the resource allocation by those in charge, and Fu Qian calmly said it on the spot.

”If there are any objections, whether from Veron or Professor Yang, let them come directly to me.”

He was referring to the names of the two demigods from the Divine Ashes Institute who attended the last trial conference.

...

Are you truly not planning to be amicable? They also need to have the courage to confront you!

In face of the overbearing style of the temporary person in charge, even Lanaia could only sigh.

During the last masked ball incident, the rising star of trouble from the Divine Ashes Institute, Ian, was directly killed by this guy, not to mention Veron, one of the two demigods, was also clearly afflicted and has yet to fully recover.

Lanaia didn’t think that anyone from the Divine Ashes Institute dared to provoke this reckless guy over such a trivial matter.

”If that’s the case, then it might indeed be helpful...”

And just when she was at a loss on how to comment, she unexpectedly heard Professor Lisa next to her was already lost in thought.

Even Lisa is being influenced? Before, even if she did her own thing, she at least considered the implications.

Lanaia felt for a moment as if she were witnessing the decline of Heaven’s Commencement Institute.

”Then it’s settled. They’re in your hands now.”

And at this moment, the temporary person in charge’s execution ability was manifested, and with Professor Lisa showing slight interest, related matters were settled on the spot.

”Do a good job, Professor Lanaya will also be following up on this matter.”

The next moment, Fu Qian even directly pointed to the side.

”Let her witness the scholarly prowess of our Heaven’s Commencement Institute.”

Prowess indeed, I’ve barely managed to disentangle myself from the ties, and now how am I a project supervisor just by watching a show?

Suddenly becoming the center of attention, the pointed Lanaia was momentarily stunned.

”...Wouldn’t the scholarly prowess of our Heaven’s Commencement Institute be more impactful if demonstrated by Professor Fu himself?”

Even Professor Lisa beside him couldn’t help but cast a sidelong glance at Fu Qian.

Even though the words were spoken with palpable sarcasm, Lanaia nevertheless noticed that the previously hesitant demeanor in her opponent had become resolute in synchronicity.

Based on her understanding of Lisa, bringing up the honor of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, such a stimulus she truly couldn’t resist.

So is this the purpose of my coming?

She couldn’t help but glance at Fu Qian; regrettably, with a severely moral face, Lanaia couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, putting on a similar expression as she had boarded the pirate ship.

”I am very much looking forward to Professor Lisa’s stellar performance. Please feel free to ask for my cooperation if needed.”

Although unwilling to be used as a tool, since it’s happened, it wouldn’t hurt to adopt the stance.

”Thank you, professors.”

And seeing that the overall situation was set, Veil, whose heart was suspended, finally relaxed, and she seriously bowed to express thanks, especially to Lisa, who was about to personally handle the task.

...

”Professor Lisa should put in full effort, correct?”

With the efficient completion of project establishment and the determination of supervisors, the reward collection for the Ver Sisters was promptly arranged.

Unfortunately, before Fu Qian had a chance to boast about management efficiency, he had already been classified as one of the idle and miscellaneous staff and was escorted out by the personnel implementing the project, leaving only Riet inside.

Though not entirely delighted, after some thought, Professor Lanaya still chose to invite Veil to temporarily stay at her place.

And sending off the again grateful Veil and watching her leave with Lanaya, Ji Liushuang, who maintained prudence throughout, couldn’t help but sigh, expressing optimism towards the project’s prospects.

Having been neighbors for some time, she evidently understood Professor Lisa’s character well, knowing that Riet’s issue would most likely be resolved.

Furthermore, despite having curiosity similar to Professor Lanaya regarding the sudden appearance of these two sisters, she seemed more concerned over another matter—

”So, will Professor Fu remain at the Academy until the treatment is complete?”
