Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1494: Chapter 1492: Forced Assignment

After all, young people do care about these things.

Riet’s final request as a volunteer was something Fu Qian naturally understood.

Whether it was wearing her sister’s pajamas or selflessly attempting seduction as a sacrifice, these were feats that would keep one tossing and turning, sleepless, even years later.

Young people have a bit less capacity for self-deception, and Riet clearly found it hard to convince herself it was just a dream.

”Alright, but you don’t have to treat it as a blemish to be removed.”

Fu Qian agreed readily.

During the process of growing up, young people often wish certain memories could be forgotten by themselves and everyone else, but growth often manifests upon realizing this point.

Of course, Fu Qian wasn’t particularly interested in moral education work; his casual guidance was just a little payback for Veil’s actions.

Despite not emphasizing it, the other party still chose to keep information related to him confidential, avoiding any negative consequences.

Such meticulousness was truly a delightful trade partner.

...

”Thank you... I will try my best,”

You have to consider who says the chicken soup for the soul. You can tell young Riet, just past the age of rebelliousness, was quite moved at that moment, even if it wasn’t a complete epiphany.

And after a moment’s silence and a solemn acknowledgment, her brows seemed to relax a bit more.

Of course, Fu Qian didn’t give her more time to process, casually snapping his fingers to perfectly conclude this inspection.

Yet, even as the dream shattered and reality returned, the surroundings remained peaceful and serene.

The three waiting outside seemed to hold their breath, straining to catch any sound from within.

Considering there hadn’t been any noise from inside since earlier, this curiosity was quite normal.

”Thank you very much, we can head out now.”

Fu Qian wasn’t someone lacking in subtlety, so he made an extra summary to help the eavesdroppers imagine more vividly.

”Okay... Thanks for the trouble, sir,”

Returning to reality, Riet’s mood instantly shifted, her expression turning cloudy.

Of course, she still responded politely to Fu Qian’s statement.

To her sister, this was enough to slightly ease her mind, judging the interaction had been fairly smooth.

...

”Thank you.”

Ms. Veil’s first response upon entry was a word of gratitude.

As for the second, after inspecting her sister’s face to confirm her emotional index had improved, her face lit up as well.

The inspection had occurred in a dream, which experienced Veil could instantly realize.

Precisely for this reason, she worried her sister might become emotionally triggered and uncooperative.

Of course, she still had confidence in Mr. Fu’s character, and now it was time to verify the test results and proceed to fulfill the promised rewards.

”Upon reflection, there’s nothing much today, so I’ll accompany you,”

Before the sisters could say more, Professor Lanaya, who had just avoided a hassle, spoke up after some hesitation.

”Previously confirmed, both sisters are visiting here for the first time. For safety’s sake, I’ll follow along a bit.”

Curiosity is one of humanity’s finest qualities, indeed.

Professor Lanaya’s conscientiousness earned Fu Qian’s momentary admiration.

Of course, she hadn’t suddenly realized her sacred responsibilities or anything like that.

Her glances bouncing between himself and Riet since re-entering clearly suggested another layer of intrigue, piquing her curiosity.

Accompanying them wasn’t just about preventing mishaps but more about satisfying her curiosity, like what relationship the sisters had with him.

Fu Qian didn’t mind such far-fetched associations, as that was one of the reasons he behaved that way earlier.

Having an additional person from the Punishment Department involved would ensure Professor Lisa, even if only to assert the dignity of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, would pay more serious attention.

Of course, Lanaya wasn’t the only one brimming with curiosity.

...

”What... You want me to help handle her hand?”

”I’m really busy; why don’t you do it yourself? How are they related to you?”

Soon after, in a towering structure radiating internal warmth though commanding outside, Professor Lisa, the academic prodigy unseen for days, widened her eyes at Fu Qian, questioning him thus.

Though claiming she wasn’t in a hurry, once Fu Qian suggested immediate departure, the Veil sisters readily, almost at lightning speed, packed their belongings and embarked on their quest for treatment.

And Professor Lisa, upon whom high hopes were placed, indeed continued her dedicated research in the lab, as Ben confirmed during their breakfast chat with Miss Liushuang, engrossed in the fruits of previous academic expeditions.

The bat-derived bone mask appeared to pose quite a challenge for her.

Although, as a top-class force just shy of a Demigod, she wouldn’t work herself into dark circles, the frustration from lack of progress was overtly clear.

So when Fu Qian disrupted her research, proposing task allocation, the negative emotion was almost instantly released.

”I owe them a personal favor,”

In response, Fu Qian spoke truthfully, neither humble nor arrogant.

Would you owe them a favor?

A regular person and someone almost at Middle Tier—you’re a dignified Demigod of Heaven’s Commencement—what trouble would you need their strength to solve?

Although remaining silent, one could sense this skepticism from Professor Lisa’s expression change.

Under her scrutinizing gaze, the Ver sisters, experiencing the higher educational institution for the first time, clearly appeared slightly flustered.

Especially since Professor Lisa, despite her excessively charming demeanor, wore a serious white lab coat, presenting a very professional appearance.

”And Cass is not here.”

The atmosphere was delicate, but how could it stump a professional adept at breaking the ice? Fu Qian quickly provided further reasoning.

”I know he’s not here, but aren’t you here? Even if you want to slack off, so many people—how does it suddenly fall on me?”

However, Lisa, finally having a moment to vent, seemed not so easily persuaded, still frowning as she raised objections.

”No, no, you misunderstood my point.”

Fu Qian promptly waved his hands.

”What I mean is, as one of only two Demigods at Heaven’s Commencement, with Cass not around, naturally I’m now the leader on this, it’s not your turn but assigned to you.”

...

I...

Clearly, Professor Fu’s response was novel, significantly impacting the audience.

Seeing his arrogant demeanor, even though she wanted to punch something, as the one being tasked, Professor Lisa tried to speak up multiple times but ultimately couldn’t retort.

An air of superiority silences dissent; even within the academy’s scholarly circle, it’s part of the Supernatural Realm’s academic circle.

Though Cass never forces her to do anything she doesn’t want to.

”And I would owe you a favor,”

Amidst internal complaints, Heaven’s Commencement’s temporary leader continued.
