Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1486: Chapter 1484: True Purity

Interesting speculation.

The will born of a miracle, and even its form of existence, may have been shaped by such a special power.

Although it seems limited to the realm of conjecture, the ideas provided by Professor Ah Kai instantly triggered numerous associations for Fu Qian.

Choosing to engage in this cross-boundary communication was indeed meaningful.

As mentioned before, as an academic worker, Fu Qian has always been curious about the nature of miraculous power.

And if the speculation about miracle creatures is true, then the act of shaping souls almost out of thin air reflects an increasingly astonishing authority behind it.

The form of existence exhibited by Jianxin and Huo might also have more significant symbolic meanings.

”Following this train of thought, why aren’t transcendental creatures the ones triggering miracles, transforming into such special forms of existence?”

However, as a rigorous instructor at the Heaven’s Commencement Institute, Fu Qian did not blindly agree but continued this honest tone of cross-boundary exchange, presenting his own reasoning.

”Not pure enough.”

From Professor Ah Kai’s response, one can see that on the one hand, he had this concept for some time, and on the other, he was not averse to questioning.

”Some special transcendental creatures can indeed trigger miracles, something that has long been confirmed.”

”Even because their forms of existence differ from humans, the way they manifest is different, sometimes much simpler.”

”But they are still not pure enough, as independent individuals, they hold no fundamental differences from humans in the concept of miracles.”

Ah Kai pointed at himself.

”And perhaps one can use miracles to enhance oneself, but all these years, no one at the Benevolence Institute has ever managed to turn themselves into such a pure conceptual existence.”

...

”It sounds somewhat reasonable, but as for the transcendental trait you mentioned, I suppose it’s not merely material taken from transcendental creatures?”

Contemplating Ah Kai’s words, Fu Qian extended his thoughts along the other person’s train of thought.

”Of course not.”

Ah Kai continued shaking his head.

”According to the Benevolence Institute’s philosophy, no matter how pure they seem, they are still not pure enough. The imprint of their previous transcendental life is still one of their foundations of existence.”

”You can hardly find a truly independently existing transcendental being, unless its ranking is high enough.”

”Divine trait?”

Fu Qian blinked, seemingly understanding Ah Kai’s point.

”Exactly.”

A flicker of surprise passed through Ah Kai’s eyes.

The other’s sharpness is one thing; such an overly abstract conceptual distinction, to some degree, almost belongs to the Benevolence Institute’s self-indulgence, especially being incompatible with the practical style of Heaven’s Commencement.

Being able to immediately think of this indicates no bias in this area usually.

The enviable promotion efficiency surely isn’t achieved by mere luck.

”Only with a sufficiently high ranking is there the possibility of independent existence without relying on any form.”

Sighing aside, Ah Kai quickly confirmed the other’s conjecture.

”Although rare and precious, with your achievements, you should have encountered this high-ranking trait, shouldn’t you?”

Not just encountered.

Ah Kai’s question momentarily brought to Fu Qian’s mind the many ”rare and precious” things destroyed by his own hands.

The most direct example being that cup of Abyssal Mist beneath the small island in the Rotten Forest.

And of course, the Holy Grail Sect that excavated and collected them.

...

”Encountered, just as you said, a very pure form of existence, including its influence on the surroundings.”

Nodding slightly, Fu Qian acknowledged Ah Kai’s view.

”Are you suggesting that even such unconscious influence can meet the requirements of a miracle?”

”Impossible for us, but not necessarily for the trait.”

Ah Kai sighed.

”As mentioned earlier, the ways transcendental creatures trigger miracles might even be simpler, so it might be possible for a purer divine trait to simplify this process again.”

”Of course, until today, it’s only been a conjecture and deduction circulated over the years.”

”But it is indeed a reasonable deduction.”

Fu Qian rubbed his chin, indicating there was no need for undue modesty.

”The divine trait unintentionally meets the requirements of a miracle, appears with self-will after being inversely influenced, while maintaining purity and concept, like a living miracle...and this makes them ultimately more difficult than some so-called mythical creatures.”

”Living miracle, I have to say this term is quite accurate.”

Although it seems no tangible benefits were gained, the mere acquisition of ”knowledge” appears to have made Professor Ah Kai quite pleased, reminiscing nostalgically.

”Though just a conjecture over the years, witnessing such an existence firsthand has been one of the things everyone at the Benevolence Institute most desires, so the Dragon of Decay you mentioned—”

”Dead.”

Unfortunately, Ah Kai’s burgeoning sense of anticipation was mercilessly dashed the next moment.

Without empty promises, Fu Qian straightforwardly revealed the current state of Huo.

”Regrettably, you can’t realize that wish for the moment, but if you have any other information you want to know, feel free to ask next.”

...

Didn’t you just mention that miracle creature possessed authority-level control...and then it died?

At that instant, the look of disappointment on Brother Ah Kai’s face was akin to being told that his tickets were for the previous day while carrying large bags past the ticket gate.

However, the other’s calm and composed tone made him incapable of raising any suspicion.

Wait a moment...could it possibly have been you who killed it?

Quite the opposite, a terrifying thought suddenly surged forth the next moment.

Not only due to the demigod-level power, but this Professor Fu also has a history.

As a core member of the Punishment Department, he had recently executed an Academy instructor—a teacher widely recognized as having the potential to ascend to demigod.

The battle prowess and decisiveness displayed in that act need no understanding of details to be appreciated.

Of course, though shocked, Ah Kai was clearly not someone unable to distinguish good from bad.

The other party’s provision of such vital information had already enriched him greatly, how could he harbor resentment for not gaining more?

Not to mention the secrets concerning such a level of power, Professor Fu not knowing to be secretive, but even displaying a gentle and honest demeanor, even this trust is enough to be honored by one.

”That’s really unfortunate, but simply knowing that they might really exist is already a great harvest for me.”

Without hiding his disappointment, Ah Kai then expressed his stance with a serious face.

”And rest assured, I will absolutely keep this matter confidential...after all, I might gain something from it, can’t have others getting ahead.”

After a self-deprecating remark, he hesitated for a few seconds.

”Although I can’t see it with my own eyes...would it be convenient for you to use a special miracle to recreate the image of the Dragon of Decay?”

”Oh? What’s special about it?”

Facing Ah Kai’s cautious demeanor, Fu Qian did not dismiss it, casually inquiring.
