Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 328: Chapter 328: Cage of Fools (22)_1

Watching Su Gao’s flying figure, Fu Qian actually felt like saying that this scene looked like a trap.

Although he didn’t know how she had locked onto the target inside the tower, the way she took off running as soon as they met really resembled the legendary tactic of luring the enemy deep into one’s territory with the prospect of an easy victory.

Unfortunately, Su Gao obviously hadn’t considered this point, her attention wholly focused on the thing she was chasing, her murderous aura almost materializing.

In this situation, Fu Qian didn’t waste any time and directly followed suit.

After all, a trap also depended on its target.

The figures of the two, one after the other, pursued their quarry up the staircase.

...And soon, Fu Qian realized something was amiss; Su Gao had already been quite high up before and they had ascended about ten more floors.

Even after a burst of speed, they still couldn’t see the end—what was this, a tower that reached the heavens?

Oh no, it turned out to be Lei Feng Pagoda.

The next moment, Fu Qian stopped in his tracks and corrected his earlier simile.

Because after climbing up this level, the path had suddenly leveled out, turning into a horizontal corridor.

From this angle, the view ahead was a veritable range of peaks, as complex as a maze on first sight.

And that hunched figure in the distance had already disappeared around a corner.

Su Gao in front didn’t hesitate at all, silently giving chase.

Such professionalism!

As a grand master of sudden assaults, Fu Qian wasn’t shy either. He lifted his foot to go but felt something sticky underneath.

Looking down, he saw a trail of bloody footprints under his foot.

He hadn’t stepped on a corpse, had he? He was a polite person, after all.

Fu Qian took a closer look and realized he was mistaken; the blood was actually seeping out from the floor.

The thick, dark bloodstains were evenly oozing out from the place he had trodden, as if he had rubbed the floor bare.

This floor could be said to have a full score in seeking compensation.

Fu Qian secretly admired it, and as the blood seemed to come alive, crawling up from the sole of his shoe, he lifted his foot without a sound, glanced in Su Gao’s direction, and bolted.

If he stayed here like this, he wouldn’t be able to take off anymore!

Whoosh!

When Fu Qian arrived, he narrowly avoided being splattered in the face with foul blood.

The sharp long knife in Su Gao’s hand cast off a stream of light as it neatly severed a row of arms that had sprung from the ground.

These arms had all grown out of the floor, were dark red throughout, obviously formed by the coagulated foul blood, trying to grab her legs and trap her on the spot.

Unfortunately, at that moment they were all cut in two, as neatly aligned as chives.

“Nice swordplay!”

Fu Qian watched the scythe—no, the long knife in Su Gao’s hand and after such slaughter, it was still shining without a speck of blood on it.

Amidst his admiration, the liberated Su Gao showed no pride but leaped up, like a deadly ray of light, straight for her target.

Her target at that moment was cowering in a corner of the space, looking thin and withered, yet with limbs surprisingly long, its arms comfortably resting on the ground while hunched over.

At the same time, its head was elongated and oval, wrapped in layer upon layer of cloth, only revealing a spiral-shaped eye socket.

This thing being called human seemed a bit of a stretch.

Fu Qian didn’t rush to follow but kept his hands behind his back, sweeping through the area with ease, fully exuding the air of a big shot.

What was most important now was to find out the reason for Su Gao’s puppet-like state; the mission was just secondary.

Just as the long knife in her hand was about to seal the opponent’s throat, the next moment Su Gao twisted her body and dodged to the side.

At the same time, a gray shadow flashed by in mid-air, missing its target.

Fu Qian, who was at the side, saw it clearly; it was one of Non-human Brother’s arms.

That withered arm shot out rapidly in the blink of an eye, transforming into a spear aimed straight at Su Gao’s face.

If Su Gao had continued on, her head would have been blown open right there.

And the ordeal was far from over.

The unsuccessful strike from Su Gao had not yet reached the ground when another grey shadow flickered.

From the wall behind her, a deformed long claw suddenly shot out, aiming for her back.

It can attack like this too!

Fu Qian looked at Non-human Brother beside him and noticed that one of his feet was deeply embedded into the floor, seemingly fused with it.

Through this method, can it attack from any angle?

Clang!

Suddenly attacked, Su Gao remained composed in the face of danger, her long sword lashing back just in time to strike the long claw.

The blocking sound was like metal clashing with iron, and the angle of the long claw’s ambush was knocked askew, grazing past her body.

Using the recoil, Su Gao leapt back several meters, flashing to the entrance.

Which was right where Fu Qian was.

Very good!

Fu Qian expressed his high admiration for her action.

That’s what you call battle intuition.

The ability to advance or retreat, to cling to powerful coattails, the way to victory could not be more important!

“Mr. Fu, be careful, he’s stronger than before!”

From Su Gao’s tone, one could hear her astonishment.

“Also, he has a power that affects people’s minds; remember to guard against it.”

Affecting people’s minds?

Hearing this, Fu Qian looked up at Non-human Brother’s One-Eyed.

The spiral pattern that sank layer by layer indeed gave off an indescribable sense of illusion.

After forcing Su Gao back earlier, this creature didn’t seem intent on escaping either, but stood still, locking its gaze from afar onto them.

Su Gao’s judgment was not wrong; based on the few moves shown earlier, this creature’s strength was not much less than hers, plus this peculiar home advantage made it really tough for her as an enforcer.

The Night Watchman shouldn’t make such a mistake. According to Su Gao, this creature became increasingly powerful after escaping here. This place seemed very special.

Fu Qian wondered if Su Gao’s transformation into a puppet had anything to do with this place.

While Fu Qian was observing and pondering, Non-human Brother did not give him more time.

A few seconds into the standoff, along with a flash of a grey shadow, two long claws reached out from the wall behind Fu Qian, aiming straight for his back.

At the same time, twice as many blood hands as before emerged from the floor, doing their utmost to prevent him from evading.

Unfortunately, Fu Qian never planned to dodge.

The next moment, he flicked his fingers, and a crimson light flashed by. The upgraded Tyrant’s Fist struck the two claws directly.

In its first actual combat, the performance of Sinflame was quite impressive.

Amidst the flying blood fire, the spikes on the whip tore countless wounds into the two claws, earning Non-human Brother’s acclaim from the corner.

Though the strike was successful, the corner of his eye caught a horrifying scene.

Another withered claw, sharp as a knife, directly pierced through Su Gao’s upper body, protruding in front.

The expanding cracks swiftly covered her entire body, yet not a drop of blood flowed out, as Su Gao stood frozen in place.

Fu Qian tried to give her a tap, and amidst the sound of breaking, her tall body slowly crumbled, white fragments scattering across the ground.

What a powerful illusion, to even affect me!

Nonchalantly pulling away another sneak-attacking claw, Fu Qian shook his head and took a deep breath.

“Begone!”

In the deafening roar, the blood hands on the floor instantly splattered into mist, the entire space struggling and quaking.

When the noise subsided, everything returned to normal.

Amidst the mess, Su Gao stood there gasping for breath, using her long sword as support to barely keep from falling.
