Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 301: Chapter 301 Bottled Prisoner (25)_1

“You can take a guess,”

Facing Fu Qian’s question, Sin Seeker William was clearly reluctant to respond.

“Riddlemaker, huh? Let me think about it.”

Fu Qian stroked his chin.

“I have indeed heard of this kind of death game before.”

“Usually, organizing this kind of thing is either to satisfy the perverse pleasures of those in high positions, or to provide for the legendary demon’s sustenance—the negative emotions generated by people under the threat of death: pain, despair, anger, and the like.”

...“And in this competition, that special concept is exceptionally prominent, directly manifesting in the form of Sinflame.”

“Plus, after obtaining the Sinflame, your strength clearly increases, which I presume is one of your goals.”

“There’s another question, your behavior has been inconsistent.”

“Previously, you indeed looked like a brainless, canned meat soldier. It felt like in that state, you were summoned in some special way as a projection, not the full entity.”

“If it was just to collect Sinflame, you wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble; you could’ve directly chosen to appear in your current state.”

“Is it fair for me to infer that your current form can’t be maintained for very long?”

Fu Qian looked curiously at the Executor of Justice.

“It’s sufficient,”

the latter finally replied after a long silence.

Indeed, the previous form, though weak, had the advantage of stability.

It seems the reason he didn’t want to drag out the fight with me was because of this. He couldn’t maintain this state for much longer.

“So, was it after you first discovered the statue and underwent purification that you found out Sinflame could enhance your strength?”

Fu Qian continued to ask.

“Not until later,”

William, realizing he temporarily could do nothing to Fu Qian, answered honestly.

“For a long time after that, I wasn’t aware of the change, until one day an Exploration Team broke in here.”

“I see,”

Fu Qian understood instantly.

“They happened to intrude during the goddess’s ‘watching’ period, and you found that you were summoned here in a special state?”

“Exactly. From then on, I realized that as long as there was Sinflame, I would feel the summoning. And as long as I accepted it, I could manifest in a special form to answer the call.”

“It was an indescribable state where even my thoughts weren’t under my control. I just needed to follow my instincts to slash and kill.”

“At the same time, the true Immortality; even if I fell, I could respond to the summons once again soon after.”

“And with each killing, I would even grow stronger and stronger?”

“Too much stronger,”

William said with a voice twisted by excitement.

“I was just a normal Middle Tier Transcendent at that time, yet that one event made me feel as though my strength had more than doubled.”

Strength increase…

Fu Qian frowned slightly, sensing that there was something off about his statement.

“But you didn’t feel you advanced a tier?”

“The so-called tiers are just an illusion,”

William snorted, seemingly conceding the point.

“That’s when I realized that my thinking had always been confined.”

“I’m very certain that there’s no need to care about any training methods or tier rituals; as long as I continuously collect Sinflame, I can grow without limit, until I become an unimaginable existence!”

“Therefore, this redemption plan came up, and it makes sense—few can resist such temptation.”

Regarding his self-indulgence, Fu Qian remained unopinionated.

“I’ve tried many methods; this is the most effective,”

“Firstly, the Sinflame can only appear under the Goddess’s gaze, and I have very limited time each year to utilize it.”

“And the fear of death, the desire to survive, will burn the Sinflame at the fastest rate.”

“There will even be people who help you gather it in advance, making it convenient to reap all at once.”

Fu Qian added a sentence.

“Yes, they work very hard for this, hehe…”

It was the first time Fu Qian heard William’s laughter.

To be fair, it sounded quite like a duck that had swallowed a bitter pill.

“Thank you for your honesty, I think I have a clear understanding now.”

Fu Qian let out a sigh of relief.

“Additionally, aside from Patrick, the other final victors, they were killed by you, weren’t they?”

“…Yes.”

“Since you can’t obtain Sinflame by killing outside, there must be another reason.”

Fu Qian continued his analysis.

“You can guess again.”

“That’s too easy, because aside from the Butcher, they all underwent purification, right?”

Fu Qian almost immediately retorted.

“You were worried they would uncover the secret of Sinflame, threatening your status as the First Sinner.”

“Yes, those people aren’t fools; I couldn’t take that risk.”

William readily admitted it.

“It seems your worries were justified.”

Fu Qian pointed to the ground.

“Aside from that bloodthirsty Butcher, the others must have sensed something, like this one, who had a rather quick understanding.”

“He deserved to die even more.”

Looking at Yun’s decapitated corpse, William snorted heavily.

Such resentment, huh?

“If I think about it, this mad Swordsman, relying on his formidable strength and his disregard for life and death, disrupted the entire game’s rhythm, preventing your projection from suppressing the others.”

“Most obviously, the Butcher could collect Sinflame without any worries and grow wildly. If he became the final victor, it would mean a significant loss for you.”

“So, after being eliminated yet again, you could no longer endure it and entered the fray in your true form. Clearly, after being summoned multiple times, you had mastered this form.”

“The effect was significant, the Butcher was directly killed by you.”

“But it was indeed a risky action because in this state, you could no longer die infinitely.”

“All correct!”

William’s voice suddenly turned cold.

“Then why don’t you think about why I would dare to do such a dangerous thing?”

Before his words fell, a dark red line of blood slowly emerged around the neck of the silvery armor, winding around like a snake.

At the same time, countless sharp thorns condensed along the bloodline, extending wildly in all directions.

In just a few seconds, the bloodline transformed into a dark red thorny whip.

And that was not the only one; at every joint of the armor, winding thorns grew out and rapidly covered the entire body.

Even the Silver Greatsword in his hand was instantly entwined with numerous spikes.

Silver and red contrasting against each other was a startling sight.

“What do you think is the reason why I’m wasting time talking to you for so long here?”

William’s voice came again, now brimming with murderous intent.

“The Goddess’s divine gift, I too need some time to assimilate.”
