Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 318: Chapter 318 Fool’s Cage (12)_1

This is too exaggerated, right!

The scene before his eyes took Fu Qian a good while to come back to his senses.

In front of him was a fairly small room with red walls all around.

At this moment, four girls were surrounding Violetta in the middle of the room.

Compared to Violetta, the four girls looked older, with the tallest one appearing to be around sixteen or seventeen.

But what was most shocking were their faces.

...Previously, one could say Violetta looked similar to Su Gao, but the faces of these four girls were almost exact replicas of Su Gao’s, and the resemblance proportionally increased with age.

This scene was abnormal, which was why Fu Qian exclaimed about seeing a room full of Su Gaos.

Meanwhile, Fu Qian also discovered a problem—he seemed to be in some sort of omniscient perspective.

Observing everything from an indescribable angle, no shadow could escape his eyes.

So the question arose… where was his own body?

He could see every detail in the room, yet there was no hint of his own body.

Was he in some sort of spiritual state without a physical form?

No sooner had this thought entered his mind than Fu Qian felt his vision whirl and quickly narrow.

When he came to his senses, Fu Qian saw four faces peering down at him.

Was this… Fu Qian instantly realized something—he was now inhabiting Violetta’s body, like a spirit over her shoulder.

The latter was in a muddled state.

Realizing this, Fu Qian’s first instinct was to control himself, refraining from attempting any movement.

“Violetta.”

At that moment, the oldest of the girls whispered.

And as she called out, Violetta’s confused eyes began to clear up and sharpen.

“You’re safe, no need to be afraid.”

The girl continued in a gentle tone.

“It was just a dream, you don’t have to be scared once you’re awake.”

“Are you… Sister Souffle?”

Violetta shook her head, her voice dry, struggling to remember something.

“Hmm, it’s me. Don’t force it. Calm down and take your time, you’ll remember.”

The girl called Souffle spoke softly, comforting her.

“Hmm!”

Violetta nodded subconsciously.

“Where did you go?”

Seeing her regain some sense, one girl couldn’t wait to speak up.

By height, this one seemed to be the third among the sisters, in her teens.

She was also the only one with short hair, which made her look lively and playful.

“Hani…”

Violetta called out the other’s name while recalling details with some agony.

“… Many places, someone was chasing me… I took a car, on my way to find mom, it was raining… then I stayed at a very big place, with lots of tasty food… there were houses made of cookies…”

“Then I kept walking and walking, very far away… until I finally found mom’s room—”

The next moment, Violetta sat up abruptly and looked around the room.

“Where’s mom? Where did mom go?”

“Playing Snow White again?”

The girl named Hani didn’t answer her but instead giggled.

“You always like to dream this. Did you follow the straw man this time?”

Hani pointed to a corner of the room as she spoke.

In that inconspicuous spot, there stood more than one straw man.

They all had round faces and red clothing, identical to the one they’d seen before.

Could these really be for guidance? Were they leading Violetta to “mother’s room”?

And after pushing open that door, would her consciousness arrive here, just like waking up from a dream?

Fu Qian silently contemplated the information he had gathered.

It didn’t feel like a dream; rather, it seemed more like a special world of consciousness.

But one question was now clear—when Violetta was questioned by the Mouth of Truth, why she didn’t claim to be the most beautiful person in the world.

It must be that even though she couldn’t remember the names of her four sisters in the dream, she still had a vague feeling that such people existed.

“Hmm!”

Faced with Hani’s question, Violetta pondered for a moment before finally nodding affirmatively.

“The straw man kept appearing; at first, I was afraid of it, but in the end, I followed the path it marked out… There was a kind friend who had been helping me, I don’t know where he went… and what about mom?”

Theoretically, that friend is currently inside your head, and to call him kind is really more credit than he’s due.

Fu Qian silently replied in his mind.

Mom…

When asked about her mother, the four sisters exchanged glances.

“Violetta, mom has been gone for a long time,”

It was Souffle who spoke up in the end, answering her question.

“Think carefully, you’ve always known.”

“You have to distinguish the fairy tales mom told from reality, otherwise, once you fall asleep, it will become harder and harder to wake up from within!”

Mom has died…

Violetta was visibly shaken by the news; under the strong impact, her gaze once again became lost, and her breathing became rapid.

And as she reacted violently, Fu Qian too felt a strange sensation sweeping over him.

It was as if his own consciousness was rapidly sinking, about to be engulfed in an extraordinary confusion.

How similar was this to the feeling after seeing that painting, the one of the Gridy Family?

Violetta seemed to be taking him back to that fairy-tale world.

Realizing this, Fu Qian immediately concentrated his mind, resisting the odd onslaught.

After a long while, the muddled feeling finally faded, and at the same time, Violetta’s eyes cleared once more.

During this time, all four sisters quietly surrounded her, seemingly afraid to disturb her.

“I remember now… Mom is indeed gone, I know that, but I keep forgetting…”

Violetta, having recovered, hung her head, speaking in a subdued voice.

“It’s good that you remember.”

This time, Souffle didn’t offer comfort, her expression more serious than ever.

“Make sure to remember clearly, otherwise, it’s easy to fall back into it.”

“Yes, yes!”

Before Violetta could respond, Hani hurriedly interjected.

“Your moments of clarity have been getting shorter and shorter lately; you absolutely can’t go on like this, or one day you’ll get lost inside, never to wake up again!”

Right…

“Anyway, it’s good you’re back—after such a long dream, you should rest a bit, but remember, don’t fall asleep.”

Seeing Violetta gradually regain clarity while also looking utterly exhausted, Souffle waved her hand, signaling Hani not to scare her anymore.

“Not just Violetta, but you all must not fall asleep either.”

“If you dream, don’t forget to follow the straw man.”

“Okay.”

Facing Souffle’s admonition, the remaining three answered in unison.
