Facing an Ancient God for a Year

He didn’t delay any further; after putting away the newly acquired rewards, Fu Qian directly stepped downstairs.

He hadn’t walked far when he spotted the two individuals Grandma Liu had mentioned.

With buzz cuts and sunglasses, dressed identically, two burly men with broad shoulders and stout waists were scanning the area within the residential complex.

Such figures inquiring about someone in the community were truly conspicuous.

Fu Qian didn’t bother to hide himself, and the two men also noticed him. After a moment’s pause, they exchanged glances and quickly followed him.

Fu Qian didn’t care and continued towards his destination.

...Perhaps deeming the area too crowded, those two merely trailed from a distance, without rushing to approach him.

This scene seemed familiar—just like something he’d experienced the day before yesterday.

Fu Qian reflected on it for a moment.

In fact, he suspected these two were here because of that very incident.

His social interactions were so straightforward; upon reflection, the only source of conflict he could think of were those five who abided by the principle of vengeance.

“Friend.”

Just as he was moving away from the residential area, the two men quickened their pace, and one of them stepped directly in front of him.

“Can I have a word?”

“No!”

…

Fu Qian’s response clearly took the man by surprise.

After a few seconds of stunned silence, the henchman’s face grew cold, and he slowly rolled up his sleeve to reveal a large tattoo on his arm.

Onlookers, who had been keen to watch the drama unfold, quickly stepped aside.

“Is it convenient for you now?”

The henchman undoubtedly relished this moment of intimidation. However, before he could finish his sentence, he noticed that his target had already walked away.

Damn!

The man hastened his steps and cut in front of Fu Qian again.

The henchman following behind also caught up and reached out to grab Fu Qian’s arm.

“We don’t want to cause a scene, so you’d better cooperate.”

Before he could finish speaking, he felt a numb pain in his palm as if something had whipped it.

Before he could realize what had just happened, his head thundered, and an uncontrollable flurry of rage surged through him.

In his vision, his companion was standing across from him, looking equally stunned, while their target had once again walked away.

Without thinking, he slapped his companion across the face.

“What are you doing, letting him get away again?”

Huh?

The recipient of the slap snapped out of his daze.

Realizing what had happened, he too was overtaken by fury and swung his fist towards the other’s face.

With fists flying and blood sprayed from their noses, they quickly became entangled in a fight.

For the average person, Tyrant’s Fist had an immediate effect; just then, it was as if they had merely brushed against each other with whips.

Fu Qian didn’t even bother to look back at the intense scuffle behind him.

Such scenes had become somewhat aesthetically exhausting for him.

Even as they lay on the ground, the two men didn’t forget to bite at each other, providing a spectacle for the onlookers.

…

One must maintain a healthy body so that they can fully enjoy unhealthy food.

Finding a seat, Fu Qian took a significant gulp of his cold soda and felt a moment of reflection.

Those two were clearly just lackeys; if things were as expected, their boss would likely show up soon.

Sure enough, about ten minutes later, someone pushed the door open and walked in.

It was a middle-aged man in his forties, not very tall but exuding a strong presence, with a sharp look between his eyebrows—instantly recognizable as someone used to giving orders.

The middle-aged man walked straight over to where Fu Qian was sitting, pulled out a chair, sat down, and fixed a deathly gaze upon him.

Compared to the two brothers earlier, he might have been smaller in stature, but his aura was much stronger.

At that moment, with an aggressive air, he intimidated two girls at the next table to the point where they were burying their heads in their food.

“I am Xu Meng.”

After a long while, this individual finally spoke, his voice deep.

“Two days ago, my son had an accident.”

As Xu Meng spoke, he stared intently into Fu Qian’s eyes.

“Up to now, he can’t speak, can’t communicate, he can’t even feed himself, his self-care ability is even worse than a child’s.”

“I don’t believe any of those nonsensical explanations, and I don’t want to ask for reasons. I only know that if someone hurt him to end up this way, I will make them pay.”

As expected, he had come for revenge.

“This should be you, right?”

Xu Meng pulled out two photos and threw them in front of Fu Qian.

Fu Qian glanced at them, one captured him throwing a Coke can at someone, and the other showed him leaving the supermarket with some items.

The images were somewhat blurry, but still recognizable.

“I want to know, where did you go after that?”

“After buying stuff, naturally, I went home,”

Fu Qian said with a smile, in response to Xu Meng’s questioning.

This person obviously knew his son quite well and deduced from the interactions among the group of five that there could have been a conflict with himself.

However, the fact that he only had these few pictures essentially meant he had nothing else.

Thinking about it, those few deliberately chose to start a fight with him on the bridge, and most likely wouldn’t have left any other records.

Of course, having records wouldn’t matter either.

“In between, did you happen to run into him? What did you do to him? You better tell the truth…”

Xu Meng’s face suddenly turned ferocious.

“You wouldn’t want to experience my methods.”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t want to show off your methods,”

Fu Qian said, taking another sip of his Coke.

…

The fierce light in his eyes almost pierced through the person before him, and for a moment, Xu Meng almost wanted to lash out physically.

His son had suddenly become incapacitated overnight.

This sudden accident filled him with anger, but even more so with frustration.

Because it indeed didn’t seem like something humans could do, and more than one person witnessed the strange flash of light.

But to do nothing was absolutely unacceptable to him.

He needed a target to vent his anger, no matter what.

Fu Qian saw Xu Meng’s reaction and naturally understood his mindset very well.

He also knew that it was pointless to argue at this moment.

No matter whether he was innocent or not, it was highly unlikely that it would change this person’s mind.

Of course, there was no need to argue.

Dealing with those who believe in the law of the jungle has the major advantage of not needing to waste effort reasoning.

And this person had stumbled upon the right target, but clearly had no idea about the real balance of power.

Just then, Fu Qian’s phone suddenly rang.

Tan Ying, what did she want with him?

Fu Qian picked it up and connected the call; Tan Ying’s voice came through, urgent.

“Where are you?”

“Eating,”

“Pei Yanqing had a weird incident today, she just mentioned it to me.”

“Earlier today, someone had a picture of you and asked her about it. She didn’t say much at the time but later felt it was strange and told me, asking if I should warn you. Have you gotten yourself into some trouble?”

From Tan Ying’s tone, the two were clearly quite familiar with each other.

“Thanks for the heads-up, it’s just a small matter.”

“So, did any strange people give you trouble today?”

“Yes, there’s one sitting right across from me.”
