While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 165: Chapter 150: The Void Beasts Out for Training

It could be said that during the final moments of this viral natural disaster, the movements of the permanent players actually benefited the ordinary players across every zone.

Many top-tier players in these zones used their idle resources to trade for the labor of ordinary players—for example, having them turn raw fruits and vegetables into delicious dishes. Simultaneously, ordinary players could use their own stock of produce and prepared food to exchange for more useful resources.

In zones without permanent players, people couldn’t get real-time updates through the main chat group of the Sea Survival Shop. However, they could still gauge market trends and dynamics by observing the newly listed items. Upon seeing produce and prepared meals hit the shelves of the Sea Survival Shop as commodities, they took action within their own zones.

This particular demographic primarily consisted of the top-tier players in each zone. The fact that they had clawed their way to the top meant they were exceptionally smart. By following the shifting dynamics of the Sea Survival Game, they quickly figured out what the market needed and began making their own preparations. After all, they had the capital to stockpile goods.

Once they started hoarding, the local ”economy” was stimulated. The ones to benefit were, by Nature, the ordinary players of the same zone.

Watching these developments, Rowan Rhodes felt her mind settle. She knew very well why she hadn’t made any massive moves: she wasn’t sure exactly how many of the other Spatial Beasts would be willing to cooperate.

The resources held by the batch of players she had handpicked could be fully absorbed by her current ”wealth,” which served as her safety net. However, if Void Beast Atticus managed to secure a large number of cooperating beasts, then she would be able to sweep up the resources of not only her handpicked players, but also those who had acted independently.

If it didn’t manage to find that many, the players who had acted on rumors were responsible for their own choices—it would have nothing to do with her. At the very least, she could guarantee that these actions were genuinely beneficial to them. If executed perfectly, this would be a win-win-win situation. As for herself, she bore zero risk.

With these thoughts in mind, Rowan accepted every single batch of produce and prepared food sent over by her cooperating players. Trading Coins and various resources flowed out of her inventory like water—SWISH—but to Rowan, it was completely worth it. In the near future, these items would be exchanged for much more valuable, hard commodities.

While Rowan Rhodes was hard at work on her end, Void Beast Atticus was putting in just as much effort on its side. Although it was innocent, it was by no means stupid.

Mimicking Rowan’s tactics, it forwarded the delicious food she had given it to several of its close Void Beast friends. When it came to food offered by a fellow tribe member, the other Void Beasts accepted it without hesitation, following their Nature.

The moment they took a bite, they sensed how extraordinary these delicacies were. The flavors were completely foreign to them; these were meals unlike anything they had ever tasted.

[Atticus, where did you get this?]

[Atticus, could it be that your mission target has already arrived? That fast?]

[Atticus, the food you gave us is so delicious! Do you have more?]

[Atticus, impressive! You’ve hooked up with a race of Wisdom so quickly?]

[...]

Void Beast Atticus was quickly bombarded with a barrage of messages from its tribal friends. Reading through the chat, Void Beast Atticus replied with a hint of smugness.

[Atticus: Yep! I met my mission target. She’s a human, and she’s super nice! She gave me a ton of delicious food the moment we met, and then she bought all the empty stones I had on hand. I sent the food and Trading Coins back to the tribe, and everyone was so happy! They told me to keep up my training! I might just be the number one Void Beast of the new generation.]

The smugness in Void Beast Atticus’s tone was practically overflowing. After all, it had a competitive streak of its own.

They had all been sent out by the tribe to gain experience. According to the tribe’s philosophy, one couldn’t see a rainbow without weathering the storm. All the younger generation had to venture out to temper themselves and witness the sinister nature of the other races of Wisdom firsthand.

Although they lacked practical experience, they had heard countless stories from the elders of the tribe. Ultimately, the elders wanted them to interact more with the races of Wisdom. Whether those interactions were good or bad, they would serve as nourishment for their growth. Besides, they wouldn’t actually die while carrying out these missions, making it the perfect opportunity to hone themselves.

[So why are you looking for us now? To show off?]

[We’ll meet our own mission targets sooner or later.]

[The family scroll mentioned that there’s a huge number of mission targets. The only thing we need to worry about is whether there are enough to go around.]

[If you have extra food, give me some more.]

[...]

Seeing how many of its friends were asking for more, Void Beast Atticus hurriedly replied.

[Atticus: I wanted to ask if you guys want more of this delicious food, along with the ingredients to make it? The human I know bought my daily quota of Space Stones, but she feels it isn’t enough. She wants to buy more and trade with you guys through me.]

[10,000 Space Stones isn’t enough? You didn’t sell your Space Stones for dirt cheap, did you?!]

[Atticus: How is that possible?! I definitely didn’t sell them cheap! Even the elders in the tribe said I did a great job! Here’s how I sold them...]

[Then this mission target of yours must be pretty formidable to have accumulated so much wealth this quickly.]

[She wants you to collaborate with us? How did she know you could contact us? You didn’t accidentally spill our secrets, did you?!]

[Paying upfront in full is one thing, but does she really have enough resources on hand to trade with us? We don’t offer credit, you know.]

[Atticus: It’s because she’s smart! She guessed it. Either way, I didn’t tell her directly.]

[Isn’t she human? How is she able to communicate with you?]

[Atticus: I think it’s her Skill. She can even chat with her pet! Anyway, she’s a very formidable human.]

[I’m willing to trade, Atticus. Private message me.]

[Atticus: She’s very confident and definitely has her own channels. You’ve all tasted the food, so if you’re interested, come find me.]

Right after sending that message, Atticus found that quite a few tribe members were actually messaging it privately. After confirming that several of them were willing to trade, Void Beast Atticus happily reached out to Rowan Rhodes.

[Human, I have quite a few tribe members who are willing to trade. Are your resources ready?]

Listening to this, Rowan’s eyes lit up slightly. She thought, ”It actually worked!!!”

”I’m ready,” Rowan said, her tone filled with joy. ”Atticus, you’re truly amazing. Meeting you was my Luck.”

It had saved her in her previous life, and in this life, it was helping her immensely once again.

[Human, you sure know how to sweet-talk. Thank you~] Void Beast Atticus was extremely happy to hear her praise.

It truly hadn’t expected the very first mission target it met to be so wonderful. Having such an incredible start was simply fantastic! It was so full of Luck, too!
