While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 151: Chapter 140: Praised Again

Rowan Rhodes knew nothing about what had happened late at night. Fully prepared, she woke up at 6 a.m. the next day, still breathing fresh air.

What the air purifiers lacked in quality, they made up for in quantity. As the virus concentration increased, the machines naturally had to filter more air, accelerating their breakdown rate. Rowan simply increased the number of active units. There were five air purifiers in a single room alone. This way, with multiple machines sharing the load, their Durability naturally improved. And it wasn’t just indoors; she had placed a large number of air purifiers on every floor.

The very first thing she did upon waking up was check their Durability. She inspected all of them, indoors and outdoors, from top to bottom, and estimated when they would need replacing. Only then did she wash up and head down to the first floor for breakfast.

The Seagull Family and the Big Turtle immediately gathered around her.

”Master, it’s even worse outside today.”

”You can’t go out. It’s dangerous out there.”

”Master, are you going out?”

”It’s best not to go out today.”

”...”

Staying inside the raft with the air purifiers running made it impossible to sense the air quality outside. However, as natives, the seagulls and the Big Turtle possessed an extremely sharp perception of danger. They could sense the peril outside at a mere glance.

Of course, one didn’t even need special perception—it was visible to the naked eye. The glass windows installed on the raft were originally meant for enjoying the scenery, but now they served as viewports into the viral natural disaster. Outside, the air had turned a bruised, sickly dark green, looking terrifying to the naked eye.

Listening to her little companions’ concern, Rowan smiled. ”Don’t worry, I’m not going out today.”

With the Abyssal Sea Serpent lurking about, and today being the most severe day of the viral disaster, it was better to lay low! She had dared to bravely fight the Abyssal Octopus the day before yesterday only because she had taken advantage of the raft and the Watchtower.

But the Abyssal Sea Serpent was different. She had an instinctive fear of snakes, let alone massive ones with terrifying combat power and a penchant for constriction, giving them a natural advantage. She would have to be an idiot to go out and fight it.

Hearing Rowan’s answer, the Seagull Family and the Big Turtle instantly felt relieved and happily began eating and drinking.

Meanwhile, Rowan ate her breakfast while checking the world channel, private messages, and group chats. What she found surprised her a little. Both District 122 and the main group chat were discussing the lingering aftereffects of the virus on the human body during this disaster.

Looking closer at the chat logs, Rowan realized that Celia Lynch had been the first to discover this. Rowan had known all along that players would eventually figure this out, but she simply hadn’t expected them to notice it so soon. She could only attribute it to Celia’s incredibly sharp sense for crisis. She really was an intellectual player!

Once she could repeatedly invite permanent players in the future, Rowan felt she should definitely reserve a spot for Celia. It just wouldn’t be easy to manage in the short term. A single permanent player represented an entire sub-district and tens of thousands of players. She had to conquer all the sub-districts first before considering multiple permanent players from the same district. As for Celia, Rowan felt that even without the status of a permanent player, she would still thrive.

At this moment in the District 122 world channel, although people were discussing the aftereffects, they already had a solution. The focus had mostly shifted to trading, with many players begging for Antidotes and Eira Grass Seeds. However, they were practically pleading that, since it was the final day, those who already had enough would show some mercy and not compete with them for the supplies.

Perhaps because there really were quite a few players with surplus Eira Grass Seeds and Antidotes, these items occasionally popped up in the trading hall. Air purifiers also appeared quite frequently. The same was true for the Sea Survival Shop, beyond just District 122. However, when they did appear, their prices were marked up compared to yesterday. But no matter how high the prices soared, they were practically snatched up the moment they were listed.

Many players now knew that these items represented Life Value; buying them meant mitigating countless risks.

Rowan subconsciously checked her own reserves. Overnight, her Antidotes had reached 7,200, her Eira Grass hit 2,700, and her Eira Grass Seeds stood at 6,000. Setting aside 2,400 units of Eira Grass as raw materials for upcoming production, Rowan listed the rest in the District 122 trading hall and the Sea Survival Shop.

In the District 122 trading hall alone, she directly dumped 1,000 units of each. The moment they went up, they were sold out in the blink of an eye.

”Ahhh! 1,000 units! Boss Rowan is amazing!”

”This is exclusive love for our district!”

”I snagged some Eira Grass Seeds and Antidotes! I can finally rest easy.”

”Got some too, thank you!”

”I feel like a lot of players purposely didn’t fight us for them!”

”Thank you, fellow compatriots.”

”I also got some. If I have any left over, I’ll give back to everyone.”

”Me too.”

”Thank you, Boss Rowan.”

”Boss Rowan must be harvesting over two thousand Eira Grass and Eira Grass Seeds every two hours. Did she stay up all night?!”

”I highly doubt Boss Rowan ever skips sleep.”

”If she really stayed up all night, she has my utmost respect.”

”She’s already so powerful, yet she’s still working this hard.”

”Compared to her, we’re complete trash.”

”Shouldn’t we just be thanking her for trying her hardest to produce these for us? Think about how many players she’s saving!”

”I knew Boss Rowan was a good person.”

”...”

The District 122 world channel was flooded with praise for Rowan. Similar sentiments echoed in the Sea Survival Shop’s main group chat. After all, the sheer volume of goods Rowan listed was visibly massive. Currently, none of the permanent players, not even those with the Farming Skill, could compare to her output.

”Rowan is truly worthy of being ranked first on the server. She’s incredibly strong.”

”How on earth did she manage to get so many Antidotes and Eira Grass Seeds?”

”I’m a player with the Farming Skill. The more I understand the mechanics, the more I realize how extraordinary Rowan is.”

”If she has the Farming Skill too, her Skill Level must be C-level or above, otherwise this level of output is impossible.”

”Not just that! Her planting area must be absolutely massive.”

”The more you calculate it, the more impressive she becomes.”

”We really owe her for this one.”

”Having a number one player like this is awesome. She sets a great example for all of us.”

”She’s just a bit too soft-hearted.”

”Ha! Soft-hearted? Did you forget the hundred-plus players who died yesterday?”

”We don’t attack unless attacked first. They brought it upon themselves, so how can you blame Rowan?”

”...”

When Rowan saw this, her mouth twitched involuntarily. These players really thought highly of her, didn’t they!

But it was clear that they had already calculated the output of her Medical Table, her crops, and everything else down to a tee. Under these circumstances, other than staying up all night planting and producing, there was probably no other logical explanation they could come up with.

Let them misunderstand. Having them think she was just a hard worker was far better than letting them know she had a ton of cheat-like abilities. Her cheats were her trump cards, and she wouldn’t easily reveal them to others. It was good to maintain an air of mystery.
