While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Sea Survival Shop Officially Launched

After silently making a mental note of the faction confrontation, Rowan Rhodes noticed the topic in the World Channel had shifted again.

”Speaking of which, the temperature on the Sea Survival Calendar has returned to normal today. At least we can finally get some rest.”

”I’ve already washed up and am lying in bed.”

”I haven’t had a single good night’s sleep these past few days!”

”Me too! The moment I finished washing up, I laid right down.”

”I wouldn’t have dared to relax before, but with the supplies from those ten wooden chests, we don’t have to worry for a while.”

”Wait! Haven’t you noticed that more and more players are discovering the second island? Aren’t you rushing to land?”

”I don’t even know where it is yet! I’m sleeping first. The raft will accelerate on its own anyway.”

”I feel like I’ll drop dead if I don’t sleep.”

”With my raft’s Level, I was going to arrive late anyway. A little extra time won’t make a difference.”

”Exactly. Who knows what we’ll encounter later!”

”...”

The majority of players still chose to rest. After all, it was already late at night, and none of them had slept well over the past five days. Seeing that the temperature had finally normalized, they needed to recover properly. Under these circumstances, the World Channel slowly fell silent.

Even Rowan Rhodes couldn’t help but let out a yawn. Although she had rested enough last night, she had done a lot throughout the day and truly needed to recuperate her energy. This was especially true considering she had just upgraded to a large room and a large bed!

She immediately went up to the Wooden House on the second floor. Seeing the two-by-two-meter bed, Rowan lunged forward and sprawled across it. The mattress was still a bit stiff, but under the circumstances, she was already more than satisfied. Besides, once she harvested wool from the goat tomorrow, she would be able to craft a wool mattress pad and blanket. Aside from increasing the warming Effect, she would also be able to fully enjoy the softness.

Before she knew it, Rowan fell into a deep sleep. That night, some slept peacefully, some desperately searched for the island, some buried themselves in hard work, and others frantically salvaged supplies. Everyone chose their own way to survive and face the unknown future.

[Sea Survival Calendar: January 6th, 6:03 AM. Current temperature: 22°C. Weather: Sunny.]

The very first thing Rowan did upon waking up was check the notification. Stepping out of her room, she was greeted by an azure sky and a vast, boundless ocean. Such a scene had previously always been her nightmare. But now, everything was different, because she had a raft that gave her peace of mind. As her gaze swept over the planting area below, Rowan took in the lush trees and grass, as well as the fruits hanging from the branches. These provided the foundation of her livelihood, allowing her to face everything with much more composure.

”SWISH, SWISH...”

Just as she was admiring the view, two familiar silhouettes appeared around the raft. Seeing the sharks show up once again, Rowan paused. She had to admit that the appearance of the sharks proved one thing, at least: today was a safe day.

At that moment, Seabird One also emerged from its room. The instant it spotted the two sharks, it spread its wings and charged right at them, clearly wanting to help in the fight. Its Speed was so fast that Rowan didn’t even have time to react. However, she didn’t call it back. After all, engaging in more combat would improve Seabird One’s strength. In the Sea Survival Game, being a little stronger was never a bad thing.

Seabird One battled one of them, while the other diligently attacked and gnawed at the raft. However, when it bit into the outer Metal Raft, a health bar actually popped up above the shark’s head.

Seeing this, Rowan descended from the second floor, grabbed her long spear, and swiftly joined the fray. In just a few moves, the two sharks were dealt with. She collected the dropped shark heads and Shark Skin, while tossing all the Shark Meat to Seabird One. The bird happily began to eat.

As for Rowan, she sat down at the table, took out some dumplings and milk, and started her breakfast. At the same time, she opened the World Channel to take a look.

To her surprise, the chat was currently discussing Thesora. Knowing that the second island had already appeared, players had put in the effort, and quite a few had successively made landfall.

”So you can actually use trash to buy shop resources!”

”No wonder the big shot was collecting trash yesterday.”

”So they definitely must have bought a lot of resources.”

”But looking at it now, pure trash trades are rare. You have to pair it with Trading Coins, and Trading Coins require trading in resources. If you calculate it, buying resources you can’t use is just taking a loss.”

”But just because you can’t use many resources now doesn’t mean you won’t need them later. I think we should stockpile them first.”

”Just because this island has a shop doesn’t mean future islands will have one.”

”I just didn’t expect this Sea Survival Game to actually have a currency system!”

”Besides using them in this island’s shop, where else can Trading Coins be used?”

”Our understanding of the Sea Survival Game is way too shallow right now. I feel like we’re all just being led by the nose.”

”I think it’s a good idea to keep some Trading Coins on hand.”

”...”

The chat was almost entirely filled with discussions about the shop. As Rowan read through, her gaze lingered on the mention of Trading Coins. She had obtained the Operating Qualification Certificate yesterday, meaning she now owned her very own shop. Because it hadn’t officially launched yet, she couldn’t fully control its functions. However, she remembered seeing an individual entry for Trading Coins on the shop interface. Didn’t this prove that her online shop transactions wouldn’t just be barter, but would also use Trading Coins to operate?

For her shop to become operational, she would likely need a massive amount of Trading Coins. Aside from exchanging her own resources, couldn’t she also pull other players into it? Through Thesora. Her personal resources were limited, but the collective resources of all the players were incredibly vast. As she calculated this, Rowan’s heartbeat sped up slightly. She had been waiting for a good opportunity to launch her shop, and she now realized that the best time had finally arrived.

She turned her attention to the shop module.

Looking at this prompt, Rowan took down some of the relatively rare resources she had unboxed last night and moved them into a new Storage Box. Once she finished, she directly selected ”Yes.”

”Sea Survival Shop...” Rowan had a hidden motive when choosing this name.

[Do you wish to remain anonymous?]
