While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: There Is a Kind of Trouble Called—Too Many Resources

After finishing washing up, Rowan Rhodes stepped out of the shower room, feeling entirely refreshed.

Wearing new clothes and feeling the breeze, she felt an indescribable sense of relaxation. No wonder everyone wanted to upgrade! Even in the same Sea Survival Game, the quality of life varied drastically from person to person.

Approaching the Workbench, Rowan noticed the Basic Bow and Arrow sets stacked nearby by the Seagull. Each set consisted of a Basic Bow equipped with ten Arrows.

The Seagull was still pulling resources like Wooden Boards and rope out of the Storage Box and tossing them onto the Workbench for crafting. It bustled back and forth, painting a picture of sheer busyness.

Watching this scene, Rowan suddenly felt a twinge of guilt. However, the Seagull clearly noticed her presence. It tilted its head, looked at her, and then pointed a wing at the Equipment it had crafted on the raft, as if showing off.

Rowan gave the Seagull a thumbs-up. ”You’re amazing! You’ve really been a huge help.”

Hearing this, the Seagull raised its head a little higher before resuming its crafting on the Workbench.

Rowan was speechless.

She thought, ”Suddenly, my conscience doesn’t hurt as much.

”Just keep working!”

The next moment, Rowan continued listing the Basic Bow and Arrow sets crafted by the Seagull in the trading hall. As soon as they were listed, the quantity rapidly decreased. Clearly, there were many players in urgent need of them.

Just as Rowan finished listing everything, she suddenly spotted a new trade message.

[Homemade Sleeve Arrow, Trade: scrap iron*10, Wooden Board*4, rope*5, broken cloth*5]

The moment she saw it, Rowan immediately completed the trade.

She thought, ”I have to buy Equipment from a future weapons master!”

After the transaction, the homemade Sleeve Arrow appeared in her backpack. Upon taking it out, she found it to be incredibly compact, equipped with five small arrows. Rowan strapped it onto her right hand. Perfect. She would test its power later when the Abyssal Wurms arrived.

Indeed, even though Rowan now had Hot Stones on hand and could craft simple torches to repel marine creatures, including the Abyssal Wurms, she was still unwilling to use them. It wasn’t about saving resources; she simply didn’t want to give up any opportunity to gather resources.

Taking advantage of the gap before the Abyssal Wurms arrived, Rowan first went to the planting area to harvest the potatoes and Watermelons, then replanted them.

Normally, once Watermelon Seeds were used, the grown Watermelons could not be used for replanting. But luckily, Rowan possessed the C-level Collection Skill! From the six pots of Watermelons, in addition to collecting six Watermelons, she miraculously managed to collect six seeds as well, giving her the abilities needed to replant them.

In her past life, she hadn’t had the abilities to plant anything on her raft during the early stages, making the Collection Skill seem somewhat useless. Later, she continuously practiced the Collection Skill, leveling the Skill up step by step until it reached C-level, which finally allowed her to experience the true power of Collection.

Unfortunately, she had died before she could even embark on her new development path. But looking at it now, it was a blessing in disguise. She would let the C-level Collection continue to shine for her.

She gathered her harvest and placed each item into the corresponding Storage Box. Following that, Rowan went to collect the resources caught in the fishing nets. Because she had been battling the Abyssal Wurms, she hadn’t had time to salvage resources, but the fishing nets could do it for her. Furthermore, because the fishing nets had been upgraded, they managed to salvage quite a lot of resources.

Different fishing nets yielded different harvests. The various resources she obtained totaled over ninety pieces, which was far more than what she could have salvaged manually with all her effort.

Rowan happily collected the items. However, by the time she finished storing everything, a considerable amount of time had passed, and even her condition had taken quite a hit. After finishing this round of chores, she suddenly realized that she was terribly short-handed.

She thought, ”I really need more good helpers like the Seagull.”

”Seagull, do you have any family? It would be great if they could all come work for me,” Rowan casually mentioned to the bird.

She didn’t dwell on it, though. Instead, she grabbed her Sleeve Arrow and stood at the bow of the raft, waiting for the Abyssal Wurms to arrive. She wanted to test just how great the Damage Value of this Sleeve Arrow truly was.

Under the silent night sky, any subtle movement was exceptionally noticeable. When Rowan heard the sound of rushing water, she knew the Abyssal Wurms had arrived. However, under the hazy moonlight, Rowan couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth when she saw four Abyssal Wurms approaching.

She thought, ”Double wasn’t enough, so now it’s jumped straight to quadruple???

”This Sea Survival Game really thinks highly of me!”

But the same rule applied: when one had sufficient strength, these extra beasts were nothing but resources.

Raising her hand, she aimed the Sleeve Arrow at the Abyssal Wurms. As a Wurm charged toward her, the first Sleeve Arrow flew from Rowan’s hand, aimed straight at its abdomen.

[Obtained: Rough Insect Skin*1]

Seeing the direct material drop, Rowan was stunned.

She thought, ”A one-hit kill???

”The Damage Value of this Sleeve Arrow is incredibly high!

”Did this top-tier player already master such superb Equipment crafting techniques during the novice period? Or perhaps they already possessed these abilities before entering the Sea Survival Game. Just like the tailor and pastry chef who appeared earlier?”

While she pondered this, the Sleeve Arrow in Rowan’s hand fired repeatedly—SWISH, SWISH, SWISH—eliminating the remaining three Abyssal Wurms. The last one died right on top of Rowan’s raft, leaving behind a charred scorch mark.

Obviously, with the Sleeve Arrow capable of quickly dispatching the Abyssal Wurms, they were entirely unable to inflict damage on Rowan like before.

[Obtained: Rough Insect Skin]

[Obtained: Hot Stone]

[Obtained: Slime]

[Obtained: geothermal core]

This time, the harvest unexpectedly included one of every type of resource, especially the geothermal core. Its drop rate was particularly low. She knew it. As long as she had the strength to take them down, more marine creatures meant massive benefits.

Rowan quickly gathered these resources and opened the trading hall to take a look. Sure enough, she found an option to purchase small arrows separately. After buying enough to restock a full set of ten, Rowan turned her attention to the world channel.

”Boohoo, thanks to the Bow and Arrow provided by the bigshots, I managed to survive.”

”The homemade Sleeve Arrow is super effective!”

”Yeah, the Sleeve Arrow can kill an Abyssal Wurm in just one shot.”

”Wow, our District 122 is really full of talents!”

”Hehe, I used a Hot Stone. I saw the Abyssal Wurms, but they didn’t dare to get close.”

”But if you don’t kill the Abyssal Wurms, how do you get a Hot Stone? I feel like the resources dropped from killing the Abyssal Wurms will definitely be useful later.”

”I’m still very weak right now, so I’m playing it safe. I’ll salvage basic materials first and trade resources with others when the time comes! Self-preservation is the most important.”

”Makes sense.”

”But how many waves of Abyssal Wurm attacks do we have to survive?”

”I got a heatstroke debuff. Luckily, I had a Watermelon, otherwise I really wouldn’t have made it just now.”

”Bad news, the temperature is still rising.”

”At this rate, it won’t just be high temperatures, but extreme heat.”

”With this temperature, it’s already extreme heat, isn’t it!”

”Hurry up and recover your condition during this gap! Fighting in extreme heat makes your stats drop incredibly fast.”

”...”

Clearly, the players had all realized that their environment was becoming increasingly harsh. Unable to avoid it, they chose to face it and endure.

Rowan looked at the world channel, which was now visibly filled with a fighting spirit, and soon retracted her gaze. She remained silent and focused solely on trading. She continued converting her abundant water resources into other materials, occasionally mixing in resources with special Effects, like Watermelons and Coconut water.

Soon, many players instantly grew excited when they saw they could actually trade their resources for mineral water to maintain their Thirst Value.

They still had a chance to save themselves.

Time to grind!
