While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: What She Wants Is Lasting Triumph

The first day of the extreme heat passed amidst the players’ fighting, building, resting, and dying.

At 6:00 a.m. on the second day of the extreme heat, many players were jolted awake by the sweltering temperature. In fact, most of them hadn’t even managed four hours of sleep. After all, in the dead of night, the Abyssal Wurms had attacked again. This time, four of them appeared, torturing many players mercilessly.

Naturally, quite a few players died.

Only later, after estimating the time and confirming that there wouldn’t be any more Abyssal Wurms, did many exhausted players finally fall asleep. As a result, they were woken up by the heat just a short while later.

Upon seeing the weather forecast on their panels, many players fell silent.

[Sea Survival Game Calendar: January 4th, 6:05 a.m. Current temperature: 58°C, and continuously rising. Extreme heat, danger! Players, please be careful!]

Who ever heard of the temperature rising by one degree every hour, not even sparing the night? And it was still going up? Did it not want people to live?

Fortunately, most players retained some rationality. They knew very well that the Sea Survival Game wouldn’t leave them without a way out. The temperature would definitely stop rising at a certain point; they just didn’t know when the end would be.

They had already endured for this long anyway, so they might as well keep toughing it out!

The players began to organize their resources on their respective rafts.

Sleeve Arrows / Bows and Arrows, sun umbrellas / Heat-resistant Suits, a large amount of mineral water, and food with special Effects. These had become the highly coveted four-piece set for many players.

It was widely accepted that with this four-piece set, surviving the extreme heat disaster would be absolutely no problem. Those who had them were focusing on recovering their condition. Those who didn’t have all of them were working hard to trade for them in the Trading Hall. And those who simply couldn’t trade for them prepared to endure using their own methods.

[District 122: (98603/100000)]

”Celia Lynch: Hang in there, everyone! The novice period back then was two days, so maybe the extreme heat will only last two days as well! Once we survive today, victory is guaranteed.”

”Harold Thompson: @Celia Lynch, easy for you to say. You’re not the one suffering. Over two hundred people died again last night.”

”Celia Lynch: You landed on an island so early and picked plenty of Coconuts, Mangos, and other resources! What suffering could you possibly be going through?”

”Harold Thompson: @Celia Lynch, don’t go too far!”

”Celia Lynch: Who’s the one going too far? You’re truly a bad apple.”

”Harold Thompson: *****”

”Celia Lynch: Ignore the bad apple, everyone, just keep going! There is plenty of Equipment to protect against the extreme heat disaster, and more is continuously being listed. Keep a close eye on the market. If you want to live, don’t give up. Last night was so difficult, yet so many of us survived!”

”Thank you for the encouragement, boss. We really only held on because of you.”

”Yeah, you shared a lot of information before, and we benefited greatly from it.”

”Don’t pay attention to certain bad apples. He was complaining at the start of the game, and he’s still complaining now.”

”He probably really lacks nothing, which is why he has the luxury to do so! The rest of us are just trying to figure out how to stay alive.”

”The death toll from the later wave of Abyssal Wurms last night was only a little over two hundred. That’s actually really good. Everyone’s situation is genuinely improving.”

”@Harold Thompson, speak again and we’ll remember you. Just you wait!”

”...”

The players who had survived until now had gone through the novice period and the extreme heat. It could be said that they were beginning to adapt to this brand-new world. Their mindsets were no longer easily swayed by others.

On the World Channel, separated by a layer of protection, it was impossible to tell who was a friend and who was a foe. However, most of them knew that Celia Lynch’s statements had helped them. Whether out of emotion or reason, they would side with Celia Lynch.

When had Harold Thompson ever come out to share information with them? Under these circumstances, would they really defend Harold Thompson instead of Celia Lynch? That was why this one-sided situation appeared on the World Channel.

It seemed that everyone’s counterattacks and that final threat had taken effect, as Harold Thompson indeed stopped popping up.

Then, someone else jokingly @’d him.

”@Harold Thompson, speaking of which, where did your partner Simon Quinn go? Could he be dead?”

Reading this sentence, Harold Thompson was indeed thinking of Simon Quinn. After all, having someone chime in with him on a regular basis made him feel less lonely.

But right now, where was he?

He wanted to ask, but given that he had provoked public outrage, Harold Thompson held himself back.

Meanwhile, Simon Quinn, who was secretly lurking, was also reading the screen. Seeing these words, his mouth twitched involuntarily.

Who was partners with that idiot Harold Thompson? Couldn’t they see he hadn’t spoken in a long time? He had also benefited from Celia Lynch’s statements, and he fully understood the prestige she was gradually building up.

He’d be a fool to stand out now! He intended to develop silently and act in the shadows when the time came.

This farce on the World Channel soon came to an end because most players had started to salvage resources. Since the temperature would continue to rise, Nature dictated that they should salvage as much as possible before it got even hotter!

Yesterday, there was a massive wave of people collecting all kinds of resources, all trading with mineral water. Basically, any resource could be traded for. Salvaging a bit more meant having a bit more capital to survive.

***

At this moment, Rowan Rhodes was online in the Trading Hall, exchanging mineral water for other resources.

Over the night, both her Freshwater Collector and seawater desalinator had gathered quite a bit of water. She wouldn’t feel it was a pity to trade away the extra water that was beyond her original plans.

Most importantly, the players on the World Channel were all striving to exchange their labor for the capital to live. As long as she had leeway, she didn’t mind satisfying this will to survive. After all, she could gain a lot of benefits from it as well.

In just three short days, due to some butterfly effects she had caused, she felt her own mindset undergoing earth-shattering changes. She knew very well that this change was good; it made her less extreme.

However, her style of doing things would not change. The only person she could trust forever was herself.

After the mineral water trades were completed, Rowan listed Basic Bows and Arrows as well as Watermelon slices. Once she finished clearing things out, Rowan unconsciously began sorting through her resources. Before she knew it, the types of resources in her possession had reached over a hundred.

Over the past two days, the numbers on her Storage Boxes had increased by quite a few.

Storage Box 1 (x5): Garbage, scrap iron, bandages, rope, broken cloth, Seaweed, Palm Leaves, Stone, fragments, Metal Ingots.

Storage Box 2: Sweet potatoes, potatoes, clay, dirt, Pasture Seeds, Grassland, bronze box.

Storage Box 3: Shark Meat, Shark Skin, Shark Oil, Nerve Toxin, Rough Insect Skin, Hot Stone, slime, geothermal core.

Storage Boxes 4-6: Various foods, drinks, and other delicacies obtained from ranking first on the server leaderboard.

Storage Box 7: Coconuts, Mangos, seeds, and other items harvested from Fire Island.

Storage Box 8 (x3): Wooden Boards.

Storage Box 9: Iron Hammer, machete, Basic Bows and Arrows, and other weapons.

Storage Box 10: iron nails.

Storage Box 11: mineral water.

Storage Box 12: Basic waterproof armor set, shark headgear, sun hat, heat-resistant vest, Insect Skin Short Sleeves.

Storage Box 13: Engine parts, batteries.

All the resources were categorized and placed into different Storage Boxes, which were also sorted into different sections. Most of them were completely full.

As for Storage Box 1, she had a total of five. Since they contained basic resources, which were what Rowan traded for the most these past few days, they were all labeled as number 1 so she could grab them at any time.

Among them, Rowan specifically separated out the two basic resources of iron nails and Wooden Boards. Wooden Boards, in particular, had reached a total quantity of over two thousand, requiring three Storage Boxes to store.

It could be said that after organizing her resources, Rowan felt as if a lifetime had passed, because she was simply too rich!

In her past life, when she died, the resources in her hands weren’t even a fraction of this. Her fate had already changed. This was the empire she had built with her own two hands!

Her joy only lasted for a moment. In the next second, Rowan had already adjusted her mindset, ready to continue grinding.

Because there was still a long road ahead in the future!

A moment of pride meant nothing. What she wanted was lasting triumph.
