Chapter 697: Chapter 697: Demonic Qi_1

”Alright, no more crying, let’s first figure out what’s going on here.” Ye Luo patted Qin Yuru on the shoulder and walked up to a group of police officers.

”What caused this fire? Where are the people from the Qin Family Manor?”

”And who might you be?” The police officers looked at Ye Luo with a startled expression.

”I am Qin Yuru, the head of the Qin Family, please trouble yourselves to tell me what exactly happened. How did the Qin Family Manor catch fire, and where are the people inside?” Qin Yuru tried to maintain her composure as she spoke to the police officers.

”Oh, so it’s Miss Qin!” Upon realizing the woman in front of them was the helmswoman of the Qin Group, the current head of the Qin Family, the police officers’ demeanor suddenly changed. However, they all cast discreet glances at Ye Luo, wondering if this man was the one who had cuckolded Ji Family’s young master.

”Miss Qin, based on our preliminary investigation at the scene, the fire at the Qin residence appears to have been deliberately set. As for the inhabitants of the Qin Family, not a single one has been spared; they all perished in this fire.”

A police chief said gravely as he looked at Qin Yuru, sighing inwardly at the thought that the Qin Family, one of the five great families of Capital City, could be wiped out in such a fire; it was truly hard to believe.

Upon hearing that everyone from the Qin Family had died, Qin Yuru’s body trembled, nearly losing her balance, if not for Ye Luo’s timely support.

Qin Yuru’s eyes, red with tears, looked at the ruins of the Qin Family Manor, her face filled with sorrow and pain.

”Why? Why did this happen?” Qin Yuru murmured to herself, tears glittering in her eyes, emitting an aura of bleak desolation.

Ye Luo furrowed his brows tightly, stepped into the ruins of the Qin Family Manor, activated his Clairvoyant Eye, and scanned the surroundings. Soon, he found bloodstains in some areas and noticed something unusual about several Qin Family corpses that had not been completely consumed by the fire.

These people had not died from the fire—because if they had been burnt to death, they would have inhaled a significant amount of dust in their mouths and noses, but these bodies had not. Moreover, Ye Luo discovered several inconspicuous knife wounds on their bodies, which though subtle, did not escape his notice.

Clearly, this was not a simple fire incident, but a murder case. The individuals inside the Qin Family had been killed before the fire was set to destroy the evidence.

With this in mind, a cold, murderous intent surged through Ye Luo, his eyes flickering with chilling sharpness.

Now, the only ones who would go so far against the Qin Family, and who also had the capability to do so, were the Ji Family, and all this was very likely a retaliation orchestrated by them against Qin Yuru.

”Ji Lingtian!”

Ye Luo clenched his fists, his face icy.

”What?”

At that moment, a shocked cry from Qin Yuru came from behind him. Ye Luo quickly turned around to see Qin Yuru’s complexion worse than before.

”What happened?” Ye Luo asked hastily.

”There’s trouble at the company. Qin Tianchen and his son have reappeared; they’re plotting to seize control of the company.” Qin Yuru said.

”It seems these two really have a death wish. Come on, let’s go to the company,” Ye Luo said coldly, leading Qin Yuru towards the Qin Group.

The news of the Qin Family’s destruction by fire spread quickly, shocking the entire Capital City once more. No one could have imagined that the Qin Family, one of the five great families of Capital City, would be eradicated overnight by a fire.

For a time, members of the major families in Capital City discussed the matter, speculating whether the fall of the Qin Family was related to the Ji Family. With this thought, they couldn’t help but marvel at the terrifying power of the Ji Family, which managed to obliterate the Qin Family in a single night.

Meanwhile, at the Qin Group, all employees were in disarray, panic-stricken. As the stock market opened today, the Qin Group faced another strong onslaught from the Century Group and many other corporations.

The stock price of the Qin Clan was plummeting, and if this continued, the entire Qin Clan would likely be forced to declare bankruptcy.

This caused many Qin Clan employees to consider whether they should take the opportunity to leave, turning the whole Qin Clan into a house of cards ready to collapse.

In Qin Yuru’s office at the Qin Group, Qin Tianchen sat in the chair that once belonged to Qin Yuru, a cold smile playing across his face.

Qin Yun sat beside him, and standing in the office were two figures shrouded in black robes, exuding a sinister aura that made one incredibly uncomfortable.

The deputy head of the Qin Clan, Xiang Tiandong, lay on the ground covered in blood, with four or five security guards from the Qin Clan lying next to him, all with broken legs, writhing in pain.

Soon, Qin Yuru and Ye Luo arrived, and seeing the scene before them, Qin Yuru’s face darkened with anger, especially at the sight of Xiang Tiandong and the guards’ miserable state, her eyes filled with fury.

”Qin Tianchen, what do you want to do?”

”My dear niece, what I want to do is quite simple, I want you to immediately hand over all the shares of the Qin Clan that you hold and give control of the Qin Clan to me,” Qin Tianchen said with a cold expression, his gaze turning towards Ye Luo, a fierce hatred flashing in his eyes.

”Kid, I didn’t expect you to be here too, which is perfect, for today I can not only take over the Qin Clan but also settle our previous vendetta.”

”With that pathetic look of yours, you’re dreaming if you think you can take over the Qin Clan or settle any score with me!” Ye Luo scoffed disdainfully.

”Kid, don’t get too arrogant.” At this moment, Qin Yun stood up, staring coldly at Ye Luo, and then turned to the two black-robed figures exuding a murderous aura.

”I would ask the two Emissaries to make a move and capture this man; otherwise, it will be difficult for us to take over the Qin Clan.”

Ye Luo’s gaze fell on the two black-robed figures, and he instantly recognized their power, duo practitioners of the second level of the Saint Realm. However, the aura emanating from these two didn’t seem normal, and they didn’t look like ordinary people.

As Qin Yun’s voice trailed off, the two sinister figures in black robes stood up. Beneath their robes, dark, dismal eyes fixed on Ye Luo, one of them swung a hand and a terrifying force surged towards Ye Luo.

Bang!

Ye Luo immediately punched out, shattering the force, his body trembling slightly from the formidable power of the blow.

Whoosh!

The next second, one of the black-robed figures pounced towards Ye Luo, hand transformed into a claw, reaching for Ye Luo’s body with black Qi swirling around its talons.

Bang!

Ye Luo was once again knocked back several steps, but the assailant also retreated several steps, a look of surprise in his eyes.

Boom!

At that moment, the black-robed figure’s body was enveloped in a surging black Qi, spreading an aura of horror that filled the room with a cold and deadly energy, instantly destroying the office’s furnishings.

”Be careful, Master, that’s Demonic Qi!”
