Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System

Zhai Muchen glanced at his sister and questioned, ”Why do you want to know? If you want to eat something, then you can just ask the aunty to cook for you.”

When Zhai Mumu heard her brother’s questioning tone, she turned a bit awkward. Rubbing the tip of her nose, she said to her brother, ”Why are you grilling me over this? I just wanted to know if there is a new restaurant in the county. The dishes seem quite delicious, and they are even better than what Aunty cooks. I just wanted to go there and check it out when I need to buy some takeout or something; wouldn’t that be convenient?”

Zhai Mumu had never considered herself a woman. In the army, she was more motivated than any other man. However, when she was at home, as the only woman in the house, she could not discard her obligation as Zhai Muchen and Zhai Heng’s sister. She had to roll her sleeves and cook something for the two of them. Unfortunately, her cooking was barely palatable.

If not for the fact that she could not cook well, it would have never been the turn of that man to date her.

When she thought about that man, even if Zhai Mumu did not want to feel sorry for herself, she could not help but feel angry.

However, her pity party was stopped in the middle because her elder brother actually nodded and agreed with her!

”You are right; it would have been convenient if this place had been accessible a few years ago.”

”What do you mean?” Even though Zhai Mumu knew that her skills in cooking were not really good, hearing her brother agree with her made her furious. She slammed her hands on the table and stood up angrily. Was it easy for her to cook? How dare he look down at her? ”Do you disdain my cooking skills? Don’t forget that if I had not started cooking, then you and Ah Heng would have starved to death.”

Mother Zhai had a very deep relationship with Father Zhai. Thus, she was very dependent on Father Zhai.

Due to the nature of Father Zhai’s job, he was not able to stay at home, and Mother Zhai would follow Father Zhai wherever he went. Then, of course, the children would be left behind. In the early days, it would be dangerous to keep a worker at home, as it would actually promote a landlord mentality. Because of this, the task of cooking often fell on Zhai Mumu.

It was no exaggeration that she was the one who made sure that her two brothers were not starved.

And this was how she was repaid in the end? She couldn’t believe her ears for a moment.

”It might be a bit hurtful to hear, but it is the truth, is it not? It has been hard on my stomach all these years.” Zhai Muchen spoke solemnly. He had no idea about whether Zhai Heng was fine with Zhai Mumu’s cooking, but he was definitely not.

”Scram!” Zhai Mumu was embarrassed to death after being called out by her brother. She raised her leg to kick him, but Zhai Muchen was agile as an eel. He easily dodged her and then shifted to another side. He was so quick that Zhai Mumu did not even get a chance to touch his clothes.

Seeing that Zhai Muchen had become even more agile, Zhai Mumu snorted unhappily. Her elder brother had always surpassed her and Zhai Heng when it came to physical abilities. And it seemed like he had only gotten better with time!

She knew that there was no point in fighting with her brother, so she stopped making a fuss. Each time the two of them exchanged blows, she was the one who was beaten in the end; after all, her brother had never taken in the fact that she was a woman.

She pursed her lips and looked at her brother suspiciously. ”When are you going to go back to the military base?”

”In a few more days.” Zhai Muchen’s slight smile disappeared, and his expression became stiff.

”Hey, it’s really rare.” Zhai Mumu raised her eyebrows. ”Brother, tell me the truth. Is something happening?”

”What do you mean? What is happening?”

”Don’t play dumb in front of me. I can count on my fingers how many times you come back home. Why do I feel that the number of times you return home has suddenly increased in the past few months? I am sure that this year you have returned home more than you did in the last six to seven years.” Her brother joined the army as soon as he finished his education.

”I never knew that you were keeping such a close eye on me?”

”Who is keeping an eye on you!?” Zhai Mumu rolled her eyes and looked at her brother with a look of disgust. ”I just feel that there is something amiss; you have never returned home without a reason. Now that you are coming home for no reason, how can it not be suspicious?”

However, no matter how many times Zhai Mumu questioned her brother, the latter did not respond. Instead, he pretended not to hear a thing that she had said, which made Zhai Mumu even more frustrated. ”Alright, if you don’t want to answer me, then it’s fine, but tell me, why do you want to get involved with Uncle Huo? You know that he is being closely monitored because of his connections with the people abroad. If we are not careful, then we will be dragged into a mess as well.”

”It is better to live well than to get involved with him and his messy affairs.”

Zhai Mumu knew that their family’s situation was very special. It was all because they had been very careful in the last few years and made sure that no one could get anything on them but if Zhai Muchen got close to Master Huo then these people would definitely make a fuss! After all, Master Huo just returned to the city after spending his days in the farm.
