Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System

Zhai Muchen frowned hard when he heard Han Ruochen’s cries. He wondered what had happened to the girl; after all, every time he had met with her, Han Ruochen had been steady on her feet. She did not even cry when she was pushed off the cliff by the thugs hired by her ex-fiancé. So why was she crying now? Though he was confused, he did not like Han Ruochen’s sobbing. He pursed his lips and softly coaxed, ”Don’t cry. First, tell me what happened; maybe I will be able to help.”

He took a sip of the warm water because at that very moment, he did not know why, but felt really stifled, like something was choking him. He set the cup down on the table and waited for Han Ruochen to respond.

Han Ruochen sniffed a few times before answering, ”I...my dad... my dad had an accident.” Han Ruochen was still sobbing and could hardly talk, causing her speech to turn intermittent. Fortunately, Zhai Muchen was used to listening to such blabbering and was able to understand what she was crying about. He immediately understood what had happened, and the space between his brows furrowed.

”Your dad got into an accident? Is he in the hospital right now?” Zhai Muchen knew that Han Ruochen was very close to her father, and even though the man was quite muddleheaded, she was protective of him. No wonder she was crying as if the world were coming down. After he received a sniffling affirmative response, he continued to ask, ”Do you have a problem with the money matters?”

He did hear about Meng Yunhan wasting all the savings on her maternal family.

Han Yichen was in an accident, which meant that the cost of surgery must be really high.

”Yes... It’s too late, and I cannot withdraw any money at the moment.” Han Ruochen sniffed and answered. ”Brother Muchen, can you help me? I promise that I will return the money as soon as possible.”

”How much money do you want to borrow?” Zhai Muchen asked. It seemed like the sum was quite big, or else Han Ruochen would not be flustered like this.

”Twen... twenty-three thousand yuan.” Han Ruochen was worried that the man would overthink, so she told the truth to him. She hated her mother and did not want to save her face.

When Zhai Muchen heard the good things that Meng Yunhan had done, he did not know what to say. He had to say that he had seen many characters in his life, but he had never seen one as confused and stupid as Meng Yunhan. No matter what her reasons were, was it worth ruining her family like this? He could not understand her actions.

He said to Han Ruochen, ”Go and wait at the hospital. Leave the rest of the matters to me, along with the address of the hospital where your father is admitted.” Zhai Muchen did not ask much, as he knew that Han Ruochen was not in any condition to respond to him. He simply promised to send her the money and then discussed the remaining things before ending the call.

Han Ruochen, who had been crying nonstop, was in a daze and felt a bit relieved. She crashed on the floor of the booth when she realised that her problem had been solved and swore to return the money to Zhai Muchen as soon as possible. After all, even if Zhai Muchen came from the Zhai family, their money did not come from the wind.

She paid fifty cents to the phone booth owner and returned to the hospital. As soon as she returned, Meng Yunhan, who had been crying like some kind of dodder flower, got to her feet and grabbed her by the shoulders. ”How is it? Were you able to borrow money? How much money did you borrow?”

Meng Yunhan was worried that Han Ruochen would only borrow money for Han Yichen’s surgery and leave the matter of her debt aside. If that happened, then she would be in a lot of trouble. So she could not help but shake Han Ruochen when she saw that Han Ruochen was not replying. ”Speak! What is the matter with you?”

”Sister-in-law! What are you doing? No matter how anxious you are, you cannot treat your daughter like that.” The worker saw Meng Yunhan shaking Han Ruochen and could not help but pull her aside. He looked at the woman in shock and could not help but wonder what was going on in her mind. She did not go out to gather money, but she was the first to ask about it. Did she even have the slightest bit of shame?

When Meng Yunhan saw that the worker was looking at her with a hint of contempt, she blushed. ”Isn’t it because I am worried about Old Han?”

The worker did not listen to her; instead, he turned to look at Han Ruochen and said to her, ”Ruochen, you don’t need to run around at such an hour. You are a young woman, and if something happened to you, I would not be able to answer Boss Han. Stay in the hospital; worst comes to worst, I will ask the farmworkers to pitch in.” As he spoke, he glanced at Meng Yunhan dissatisfactorily. Just now, Han Ziyan said that she was going to see if she could borrow money from her colleagues, but Meng Yunhan stopped her. She told Han Ziyan to stay in the hospital and not run around, citing that there were all kinds of elements outside.

But when it came to Han Ruochen, she actually asked her whether she borrowed money or not and did not show an ounce of concern. She was really a good mother!

Meng Yunhan’s face flushed even redder when she heard the words of the farmworker; she wanted to say something, but before she could, Han Ruochen spoke up, ”Thank you, uncle. I am a little tired after running around; I will go and rest.”

Han Ruochen was in a terrible mood and she was unwilling to see Meng Yunhan, this mother of hers, at that point.
