After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 213: Chapter 212: Cecilia Caldwell is Captured, the Serial Killer Appears

I sat in the bathtub, phone in hand, trembling.

Because of Howard Finch’s and Victor Quinn’s schemes, I hadn’t dared to leave the house in a long time. I didn’t even dare to go out on the street.

But I was scared, scared that Asher would also be deceived by Erin Whittaker.

I had nothing left...

I didn’t even know who had killed me back then.

BUZZ. My phone rang. It was Asher.

I let out a sigh of relief and frantically answered, but the person who spoke wasn’t Asher.

It was a strange voice, distorted by a voice changer. ”Cecilia...”

He called me Cecilia.

My nerves instantly tensed up, my whole body going rigid.

”I hear you haven’t given up on tracking down the serial killer.” The eerie voice held a hint of a smile.

I clutched my phone nervously, my body starting to tremble uncontrollably. ”Who are you... Where’s Asher? Why do you have his phone?”

”I am the serial killer. I am a god...” The man’s voice was low, and he suddenly started laughing. ”You can call me the Judge.”

I shot to my feet, my vision going black. ”Asher... Where is Asher?”

”For you, he tried to find me... Unfortunately, once a ’god’ develops feelings, he develops flaws and vulnerabilities.” The person on the other end laughed even more eerily. ”He was too desperate to prove himself, too desperate to catch me.”

”What do you want?” I asked, shivering. ”Don’t hurt Asher, I’m begging you.”

”Now, walk out of your house. Don’t tell anyone. Otherwise... he will die.” The person threatened me.

I scrambled out of the bathtub and hurried out, limping quickly.

The wounds on the soles of my feet hadn’t fully healed, but I didn’t have time to think about it. ”I’ll do what you say. Just don’t hurt Asher.”

”He’s already figured out the death list. A pity it’s not complete.” The person was laughing. ”He’s very smart, but... stupid for being so lovesick.”

My fingertips went cold. ”What... what did you do to him?”

”Don’t you want to know how he fell into my hands?” Over the phone, that eerie voice was still laughing. ”Because of you...”

My steps froze. My breathing grew ragged.

”Don’t stop walking. Keep going, or I’ll kill him.” The person on the other end of the line clearly knew I had stopped.

’He’s the killer...’

’He must be the killer I’ve been looking for.’

’The one who killed me back then.’

”Leave the residential complex, walk forward three hundred meters, and there will be a van. Get in.”

’He was ordering me to get into that van.’

”Let me hear Asher’s voice, otherwise... I won’t listen to you.” I held my phone warily. ’I need to hear Asher speak.’

”Ha...” The person laughed. ”Speak? A man as smart as him could escape just by breathing. Do you think I’d let him stay conscious?”

I frowned, my fingers trembling.

PING! A message arrived on my WhatsApp.

The person had sent it to me from Asher’s WhatsApp.

The WhatsApp message showed Asher unconscious, an IV in his wrist connected to a fluid bag hanging above...

Panic seized me, and my whole body began to shake uncontrollably.

’A glass cabinet. That madman put Asher in a glass cabinet that looked like a fish tank.’

”You bastard, don’t hurt him, please...” My voice choked, and my legs felt weak.

’That photo... it was just like the state my body was in when the police found it.’

”Such a perfect person...” The man’s voice was tinged with a strange possessiveness, as if with longing. ”If he were made into a specimen, he would surely be the most perfect work of art.”

”Don’t hurt him... I’ll listen to you...” I scanned my surroundings warily, knowing that person was watching me from somewhere nearby.

’If I made any sudden moves, like calling the police, he would hurt Asher.’

”Don’t hurt him... please,” I begged, my voice trembling.

”Do you care about him? Cecilia... You don’t care about anyone. You’re heartless. Why would you beg me?” The person laughed, a crazed, manic laugh.

’I can be certain now. This person knows me, and knows me very well.’

”Don’t worry, I won’t hurt him like you would... Only by keeping him asleep here will he be obedient...” Although the man’s voice was distorted, I could still detect a trace of longing and attachment in it.

’Who is he...?’

’Charlie?’

’But Charlie is dead.’

”Don’t try anything clever!” Just as I was about to secretly message Zeke Shaw and Lucas Grant, the person on the phone suddenly snapped.

I stopped in a panic and nervously walked forward.

”Don’t go!”

Just as I was about to walk out of the alley and get into the van, Felix Foster suddenly rushed out, grabbing me from behind. He was breathing heavily, as if he’d run a long way.

”Don’t go... He told me to tell you not to go anywhere. To trust him. He’ll come back for you.” Felix Foster said anxiously, letting out a sigh of relief after stopping me.

He snatched my phone and spoke to the person on the other end through gritted teeth. ”I don’t care who you are, cut the crap! If you’ve got the guts, go kill Erin Whittaker. Kill everyone on your stupid death list. Stop acting like some kind of pathetic psycho!”

”...” I looked at Felix Foster, trembling. ’Kids these days... He’s really fearless, isn’t he? This is a serial killer! Asher is still in his hands!’

On the other end of the line, the killer went silent.

I was terrified, shakily trying to grab the phone back. ”Asher is in his hands...”

”Stay out of it.” Felix Foster pointed at me, then barked into the phone again. ”Speak!”

On the other end, the killer was silent for a long time, then suddenly burst out laughing. It was a wild, unhinged laugh, as if he’d gone mad.

”Everyone on the list will die...” Over the phone, the voice grew even more sinister.

”Since Julian Fletcher and Sebastian Lancaster are protecting Erin Whittaker and Cecilia Caldwell so well, let’s change the game. HAHAHAHA...”

’He’s insane.’

’In that moment, I felt that the person on the other end of the phone wasn’t a person, but a demon, a madman.’

”Are you sick in the head? Who the hell do you think you are?” Felix Foster was still yelling. ”If you’ve got the guts, why don’t you take me too...”

’Felix Foster was probably about to say, ”If you’ve got the guts, take me too.”’

He spoke too soon. A person suddenly emerged from the alley, and before Felix Foster could react, they clamped a hand over his mouth and nose.

I tried to scream for help, but someone else covered my mouth and nose and dragged me into the van.

’It’s over...’

’Before I lost consciousness, I had only one thought.’

’Sure enough, that kid is still too green.’

’Felix Foster is just a high school student, after all. How could he be that guarded?’

’Now, not only am I done for, but Felix Foster has been dragged into this as well.’

...

I was in a heavy sleep for a long time. I was surprised by what kind of drug the killer had used on us. It wasn’t like the common, illegal sedatives Howard Finch and his cronies used. This drug was able to knock me completely unconscious.

It was more like... an inhaled anesthetic.

’Even my soul felt like it had been knocked out.’

A few seconds, and then complete loss of consciousness.

It was like one second I was struggling, and the next, everything went black.

I don’t know how long I was out. My head aching, I fumbled around, trying to sit up.

But when I opened my eyes, the blood ran cold in my veins. Where was this place?

I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face. I thought I had gone blind.

There was no light here. Not a single ray.

Where am I?

”Felix Foster...” My voice was hoarse, my throat so dry it felt like it would crack.

’Just how long was I unconscious?’

I lifted my hand and felt something on my wrist. I touched it; there seemed to be an IV needle inserted in the back of my hand.

’That person... was giving me a nutrient drip.’

In that instant, fear shot from my toes to my scalp.
