After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 173: Chapter 172: Erin Whittaker Had Been Drugging Julian Fletcher

My steps faltered for a moment, and I looked back at Julian Fletcher.

”I don’t remember ever having a dog...”

I was lying.

Julian Fletcher paused, then changed the subject. ”Cece, if you don’t remember, just let it go. Don’t think about it. It wasn’t a very good memory anyway.”

I entered my room and shut the door just as Julian Fletcher was about to follow me in.

Leaning against the door, I pulled out my phone to log into that account. I knew my parents had always used a social media account to document my childhood.

”Cece...” Outside the door, Julian Fletcher hadn’t left.

He seemed to have a lot he wanted to say.

’But I really don’t want to hear it.’

”Cece... I’m sorry. I know it’s too late to say anything now, but I...”

”Sir, Miss Whittaker fell from the attic. It looks pretty serious.”

Julian Fletcher hadn’t even finished speaking before Erin Whittaker started her act.

’Her method of vying for attention was just so pathetic.’

As expected, Julian Fletcher went to see Erin Whittaker.

’He’s certainly a busy man.’

I was happy to watch him run around for Erin Whittaker, willingly letting her play him for a fool.

I couldn’t wait to see the look on Julian Fletcher’s face when he finally finds out that the person who saved him back then wasn’t Erin Whittaker, but Cecilia Caldwell.

Back when Julian Fletcher was kidnapped, I was the one who lured the kidnappers away. But when he woke up from his coma, the first person he saw was Erin Whittaker.

I was discovered by the kidnappers, knocked unconscious, and hospitalized, remaining in a coma for many days...

When I woke up, I heard that Julian Fletcher and Erin Whittaker were dating.

Heh...

’I was so foolish back then, I was heartbroken over it for a long time.’

After logging into the account, I lay on my bed and scrolled through it.

My parents had started documenting my life from the very day I was born.

”Our little princess has arrived.” On the day I was born, the accompanying picture surprisingly showed four people: me, my parents, and Victor Quinn.

The person holding me was actually Victor Quinn.

He was clearly smiling, but he looked so strange. Seeing him sent a chill down my spine.

”Our little princess is a genius, already walking at such a young age.” Victor Quinn’s figure was in this photo as well.

My mom and dad seemed completely at ease leaving me alone with Victor Quinn.

”Cece doesn’t like to smile. She doesn’t even smile when Daddy tries to make her laugh. The doctor says our little princess might have autistic tendencies. Victor Quinn says there might be something wrong with the child’s personality.”

”No matter what, we’ll face this together. We won’t give up on Cece.”

”Cece is one year old. The treatment is having some effect. Her development isn’t delayed, and her intelligence is normal, but her personality is a bit odd.”

”Cecilia Caldwell is two. Today, she took the goldfish out of the fish tank and fed it to the cat.”

”Cecilia Caldwell’s behavior is getting stranger. In the bathroom today, I saw blood everywhere. She’s only two, and she killed a snake with a fruit knife.” Although the photo for this entry only showed me, I could still see a foot by the doorway. It was Victor Quinn’s, which meant he was there at the time.

I looked through the entries, picking out the ones that seemed problematic.

’Killing a snake at two? I guess I really was a newborn calf that feared no tiger.’

”Victor Quinn came over today. He said he’s very fond of Cece.”

Looking at the records from before I was five, Victor Quinn was present every time a problem occurred. I didn’t know if it was a coincidence.

I wanted to keep scrolling down, but my head suddenly felt dizzy.

There was a strange fragrance in the room that was making me light-headed.

Fortunately, Silvia Lynch’s body had been exposed to so many knockout drugs that it might have developed some resistance.

I forced myself to sit up and stuffed the aromatherapy diffuser on the nightstand with some tissues.

Shaking my head hard, I lay back down on the bed and pretended to be asleep.

”Miss, it’s time for dinner.” Outside, the maid knocked on the door.

I didn’t make a sound.

”Miss?”

There was no more sound from outside the door.

Before long, the maid came back and knocked again. ”Miss, it’s time for dinner.”

I still didn’t make a sound.

The maid left again. Not long after, I heard the sound of a car pulling into the courtyard.

I got up and walked to the window. Sure enough, a car was parked in the Fletcher family’s courtyard, and the person getting out was Victor Quinn.

I instinctively gripped the curtain, hiding behind it.

’Victor Quinn is here again... Did Julian Fletcher ask him to come?’

’On the surface, he seems to be repenting to me, but is he actually planning to erase my memories with Victor Quinn?’

”Miss, it’s time to eat.” The maid knocked on the door again.

I quickly returned to the bed, pulled the covers up, and feigned sleep.

A moment later, I heard the door to my room open.

The person who walked to my bedside wasn’t Julian Fletcher, but Victor Quinn.

I instinctively clenched my fists.

’I tried my best to act natural and not give myself away.’

Victor Quinn stood by the bed for a while, seemingly observing me.

After a long moment, he chuckled softly. ”Only a madman would believe in reincarnation...”

”Dr. Quinn, you don’t believe it either, right?” Erin Whittaker also walked in from outside the door. ”But Julian just has to believe her. She’s clearly a liar. No matter how good her disguise is, she’s still a liar. She can’t be Cecilia Caldwell. Cecilia Caldwell is clearly dead. I went through all that trouble...”

Erin Whittaker’s words came to an abrupt halt.

”Julian Fletcher loves Cecilia Caldwell, so he’s willing to create a fictional stand-in. That person could be Silvia Lynch, or it could be you,” Victor Quinn said faintly.

I breathed a sigh of relief. ’A clever person like Victor Quinn, ironically, doesn’t believe I’m Cecilia Caldwell at all.’

”I was originally planning to... but then Silvia Lynch showed up out of nowhere,” Erin Whittaker said through gritted teeth.

’Looks like she was planning to pretend to be Cecilia Caldwell herself.’

”No need to rush. Having a fake to compare against will only make you seem more real,” Victor Quinn chuckled. ”As long as you do as I say, not only... will Julian Fletcher believe that you are the true Cecilia Caldwell in spirit, but even Sebastian Lancaster... will believe that you are Cecilia Caldwell.”

Erin Whittaker was visibly excited. ”Dr. Quinn, what’s your plan...?”

”Anything Silvia Lynch can do to imitate her, you can do too. Besides, you know Cecilia Caldwell better than she does. With Cecilia’s childhood memory loss, you know more than Cecilia herself,” Victor Quinn said faintly. ”Julian Fletcher is already blinded by guilt. The medicine I gave you, have you been giving it to him every day?”

”Yes, he just took it and is already asleep. Ever since Cecilia Caldwell died, he’s been like a madman, completely oblivious...” Erin Whittaker said in a low voice.

”That medicine is designed to make Julian Fletcher hallucinate. He’s easy to fool. As for Sebastian Lancaster... a madman. After my treatment and psychological suggestions... when he’s discharged, he’ll firmly believe that you are Cecilia Caldwell.”

My heart clenched violently, and I gripped my hands tightly.

’Victor Quinn!’

’What is he going to do to Asher...?’

”What if Silvia Lynch discovers our plan...?” Erin Whittaker asked in a low voice.

”So what if she does? She’s just pretending too... May the best woman win.” Victor Quinn’s fingers lightly brushed across my cheek.

It sent a chill through my entire body.

”Dr. Quinn, you’re right... May the best woman win.” Erin Whittaker sneered, walked over to me, and pinched my chin. ”Silvia Lynch, let’s see how arrogant you can be for much longer. When both Sebastian Lancaster and Julian Fletcher see me as Cecilia Caldwell, I’ll be the one they cherish... As for you, I’ll make you taste what it’s like to be trampled underfoot!”

”Alright, don’t forget what I told you to do,” Victor Quinn said in a deep voice.

Erin Whittaker quickly let go of me and walked over to him. ”The police have been watching me lately... It’s not a good time for me to make a move or meet with contacts...”

”Find a way, and soon. The people on the other side are getting impatient,” Victor Quinn said faintly.

Erin Whittaker and Victor Quinn left.

I knew they were plotting something. From their conversation, I could tell they had been collaborating for a long time.

’What did Victor Quinn mean by ”the people on the other side are getting impatient?”’

No matter what Erin Whittaker and Victor Quinn are planning, I have to get Asher out of there as soon as possible.

What if Victor Quinn really does have the means to make Asher... not recognize me?

’What would I do then?’

After hearing Victor Quinn’s car drive away, I snuck out of my room and slipped into Julian Fletcher’s.

He was, as expected, sleeping very deeply.

’Idiot... He wouldn’t even know if Erin Whittaker killed him in his sleep.’

”Julian Fletcher?” I patted his face.

The dose must have been too strong; Julian Fletcher wouldn’t wake up.

”Cece...”

Julian Fletcher was calling my name.

I tried to leave, but Julian Fletcher suddenly grabbed my wrist.

”Cece... I’m sorry.”

His voice was choked with emotion, as if he were trapped in a nightmare.

I struggled to pull away, but he yanked me onto the bed. ”Cece... please come back, won’t you? I was wrong...”

CLICK! Just as I was trying to break free, the door... suddenly opened.
