Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 98: Chapter 86: The Whereabouts of the First Material

Fang Xiu walked across the grasslands, making small talk with the old man beside him.

He wasn’t familiar with Gate World No. 23 and knew little about it, having only done a brief online search the night before.

So he was naturally pleased to have someone who seemed to be a regular in Gate World No. 23 acting as a guide and introducing him to the area.

”Fang Xiu, the place where the Rare Materials are is crawling with Level 35 Demon Beasts. It’s not a place ordinary Awakened can even get close to!”

After a bit of small talk, the old man had learned Fang Xiu’s name. Now, knowing that Fang Xiu was searching for Rare Materials, he offered a kind warning.

”Level 35?”

Fang Xiu feigned surprise.

In Fang Xiu’s eyes, a Level 35 Demon Beast was still very strong.

In fact, many of the Awakened in this Gate World hadn’t even reached Level 30.

Level 35 was even more out of reach for them.

”Yes, Level 35 Demon Beasts. In this Gate World, there are very few Awakened who’ve even reached my level. What talk is there of snatching Rare Materials from Level 35 Demon Beasts?”

The old man warned.

He knew that for Fang Xiu to be able to enter Gate World No. 23, he had to have reached at least Level 15.

But that was a far cry from Level 35.

Besides, who among those who could enter this Gate World hadn’t reached Level 15?

With that kind of strength, trying to snatch Rare Materials?

You wouldn’t even qualify as cannon fodder.

”Don’t worry, sir. I know my own limits.”

Fang Xiu smiled and said, ”But, sir, could you tell me how you know all this?”

”Heh heh!”

The old man chuckled, seemingly satisfied with Fang Xiu’s response.

After all, if Fang Xiu still wanted to go after hearing about the Level 35 Demon Beasts, he would undoubtedly be courting death.

”This arm of mine... I lost it to a Demon Beast while I was gathering Rare Materials.”

The old man pointed to his severed arm. ”Back then, I was arrogant. I’d reached Level 35 and went to seize those Rare Materials. But there were too many of those damn beasts. One Demon Beast took advantage of my focus on the materials, rushed right up, and took a bite.”

”That one bite cost me five Levels of my Cultivation and left me unable to advance for the rest of my life!”

The old man seemed to be recalling a painful memory.

He had been Level 35, but losing an arm had dropped him five Levels.

At least he had managed to keep his life.

However, it left a permanent injury. No matter how he tried to practice Cultivation after that, he could never make the slightest bit of progress.

”Even my son... he got greedy once and went to that place with the Rare Materials. He ended up throwing his life away for nothing!”

As the old man spoke of this, his eyes grew red.

It seemed this was a pain he didn’t want to bring up.

”Sir, my condolences.”

At that moment, Fang Xiu didn’t know how to comfort him.

He was never good at this sort of thing.

”It’s fine. It’s been more than a decade.”

The old man shook his head and said, ”I just got carried away by my feelings.”

”After so many years, I’m afraid someone has probably taken the Rare Materials by now!”

Fang Xiu said helplessly.

Since so much time had passed, he figured the materials would surely be gone, even if he knew the location.

”Heh heh, not necessarily. In more than a decade, I haven’t heard of anyone obtaining Rare Materials in Gate World No. 23. I think they’re still there!”

The old man chuckled.

He had only seen the place with the Rare Materials because he’d stumbled upon it by accident once.

Others, he suspected, hadn’t been so lucky.

”I see!”

Hearing this, Fang Xiu breathed a small sigh of relief.

After all, if they were gone, he would have no more clues about the materials Kajimi needed to advance.

This was the only lead Fang Xiu had managed to get.

”Looks like you haven’t given up, kid!”

The old man seemed to have seen through Fang Xiu’s thoughts.

He gave a helpless chuckle and spoke.

”Sir, don’t worry. I will absolutely not provoke those Level 35 Demon Beasts until my strength is sufficient.”

Fang Xiu promised.

’Although my own strength isn’t enough right now, Kajimi can handle it.’

’In that sense, our strength is sufficient, so I’m not really lying.’

”That’s true. For someone as young as you to have already reached Level 15... I’ve never seen anything like it. Reaching Level 40 is just a matter of time for you!”

The old man nodded slightly.

He seemed to be getting along well with Fang Xiu, so he continued, ”Since that’s the case, I can tell you where the Rare Materials are. But you must remember not to be reckless!”

”Don’t worry, sir. I’m still young; it’s not worth getting myself killed over some Rare Materials!”

Fang Xiu nodded slightly.

’If it were just me, with my Level 15 strength, I would never take such a risk.’

’But then again, don’t I have Kajimi?’

”Sigh. If only my son had your awareness, he wouldn’t have thrown his life away.”

The old man sighed again.

Fang Xiu nodded slightly in understanding.

Then, the old man said, ”Many people look for the Rare Materials on the surface, but they don’t know that the Rare Materials aren’t on the surface at all!”

”Not on the surface?”

Fang Xiu was taken aback for a moment. ”Underground?”

”You could say that.”

The old man nodded. ”Follow this grassland forward, and you’ll find a cliff with a waterfall. Under that waterfall is a natural cave. Inside are Demon Beasts called Cyan Wave Snakes, and their strength reaches Level 35!”

”And on the chest of a Cyan Wave Snake, there is a scale called the Cyan Wave Snake Scale. It’s an extremely rare material. The last time I was there, I saw hundreds of Cyan Wave Snakes in that cave, but only one possessed a Cyan Wave Snake Scale.”

The old man continued, ”And that particular Cyan Wave Snake was already dead. It just seemed to be enshrined by the other Cyan Wave Snakes within the waterfall!”

”Cyan Wave Snakes? Those Demon Beasts are Level 35, and there are hundreds of them? I wouldn’t dare go to a place like that!”

Fang Xiu said with a laugh.

Hearing this, the old man nodded. ”A young man who knows his own strength and limits is a rare sight indeed!”

”You praise me too much, sir.”

Fang Xiu said with a faint smile.

Inwardly, however, he was already feeling a stir of joy.

After all, this Cyan Wave Snake Scale was one of the three materials Fang Xiu needed to find.

He hadn’t expected to get a lead so soon after entering the Gate World.

However, a hundred Level 35 Cyan Wave Snakes would not be easy to deal with.

Fang Xiu didn’t know if Kajimi had a way to handle them.

After all, for a Level 15 like him, killing a Level 35 Cyan Wave Snake was fundamentally impossible.

’My Skill could kill them, but... I can only use it three times at most right now!’

’I’ll go check it out first. If I can’t handle it, I’ll think of a countermeasure!’

”Careful!”

Just then, the old man beside him suddenly became alert!

Fang Xiu frowned slightly. He hadn’t sensed any danger at all.
